I chose to become a dentist after having extensive dental work done as a child and orthodontic treatment when I was in high school.The before and after photos blew me away. Seeing and experiencing, firsthand, the way dentistry transformedtheir face and smiles made me want to provide the same experience for others.

Ive been practicing in York, PA since January 1986. The practice was established in 1954 by Dr. Jay Weist and I was fortunate to have worked with and learned from him before his retirement. Its an honor that many of his patients have stayed with our office, and Im now caring for a thirdgeneration of patients, all of whom have placed their trust in me and our team to provide them with dental care thats gentle, compassionate, and effective.

I graduated from William Penn Senior High School, received a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Pittsburgh, and was awarded my Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

Continuing education is a passion of mine. I prefer to learn at meetings and conferences rather than through online courses. Hands-on education is important, because it gives me real-world experience that I can take back to my patients. Some of the topics I pursue are dental implants, crowns, bridges, and oral surgery, all of which I can use every day to benefit my patients.

I was born and raised in York, and have chosen to remain in order to care for my family and friends. My wife Denise and I have a passion for dogs and a love of the outdoors. She owns a medical practice here in town, Kenna Plastic Surgery, and is an accomplished surgeon. If Im not at work, youll most often find me fly fishing, cooking, gardening, or walking the dog. I also enjoy being with family and friends, and believe in living one day at a time.

Its an incredible feeling to be able to help people keep a healthy, beautiful smile for a lifetime. I love that we put the needs of each patient first, and develop treatment plans that are specifically right for their needs, and always emphasize preventive care and the best home oral hygiene practices. My days are spent working one-on-one with our patients, performing dental cleanings and taking X-rays, always talking with each person about their oral health and why its important to keep their mouth healthy and clean between visits. When a patient comes back for a recall visit and I can see the good changes in their mouth, because theyve adopted better habits and home care routines, I know theyre going to be happier and healthier and I cannot help but smile.

Modern dentistry is amazing and I love it when we are able to restore a persons function and smile. Seeing a patient who is happy at the end of a procedure means weve done a good job, and I am glad to be part of a team that makes people happy. I assist Dr. Hagan during patient procedures, and make sure he has everything he needs. At the same time, Im there for our patients, checking in to ensure they are comfortable, and keeping them advised as to what the doctor is doing and how much progress were making. I also set up for procedures, maintain and sterilize our equipment, and order supplies, as well as provide patient education.

Its so rewarding to see a patients response to the excellent treatment and care offered by our team. Our patients really become like family to us and we develop strong relationships with each of them, learning about them as individuals and finding common interests. Among my regular job duties as office administrator are coordinating the schedule, maintaining our accounts receivable, insurance claims, social media, websiteand whatever it takes to provide greatcustomer service.

I have two beautiful children, Kamrin and Landon. My husband Matthew is my best friend. I grew up around dentistry and understand the importance of a beautiful, healthy smile. I love working in a practice where the focus is on delivering that smile to our patients, one person at a time.
