Appearance is not the only benefit of wearing Invisalign for straighter teeth, since straighter teeth can also benefit one's oral health. In fact crooked teeth can trap food between them and lead to infection or bite issues. At Guy Mangia, DDS, we offer Invisalign as a treatment for patients interested in discreetly straightening their teeth.

Invisalign is a series of clear aligner trays that cover the teeth, similar to a retainer or mouth guard, but are much more discreet. At least every two weeks or so, the patient will switch to the next set in the series of Invisalign trays. With the custom aligners for each patient, Invisalign will gradually push the teeth into the right position without causing significant amounts of pain.

After creating the trays, we will then meet with the patient to ensure that they fit and that the patient understands all of the steps in the straightening process. It is important that the patient understand a few key factors about wearing Invisalign on a regular basis.

While the patient can remove Invisalign trays when necessary, the patient will want to keep them in as much as possible. The longer the patient does not wear the trays for, the longer the entire process will take. Patients need to remove the aligner trays when eating and to brush the teeth.

Patients can also remove the aligner trays to play in a sports game, give a presentation, go on a date, or while taking a photo. It is important to at least rinse the mouth after eating to keep food from getting caught in the teeth.

The patient will be able to continue through each aligner tray and follow a schedule with no surprises. By following the schedule, the patient's teeth will continue to move into the proper position without pain.

While wearing Invisalign, patients will not have to brush and floss between brackets with difficulty. In fact, the patient will be able to brush and floss as normal by just removing the aligner trays. However, it is crucial that the patient brush after each meal to keep food from sticking between the teeth.

Food that is stuck in the teeth can also damage the aligners. It is important that patients do not wear the aligners while drinking soda or other beverages while wearing Invisalign aligners. We recommend that patients only keep the aligners in when drinking water.

We customize the Invisalign aligners to fit the patient's teeth and then use programming technology to digitally map out the projected rate of movement for the patient. We will then build the rest of the clear aligners in the series. Each new set of aligners will be a bit closer to the correct position for straight teeth.

With a customized straightening treatment, patients do not need to worry about the aligners falling out or being loose. Since there is no one-size-fits-all treatment, we make sure that the trays are the right fit for each patient.

Invisalign aligner trays are nearly invisible to the point that few people will notice them unless the individual mentions wearing them. Patients will not have to feel embarrassed by wearing traditional metal braces or a mess of wires in their mouth on a regular basis. Invisalign allows for the patient to receive the straight smile they desire without the maintenance of going through braces treatment.

Understanding the good, as well as the bad, of Invisalign allows those who are considering this teeth-straightening option to know more about whether or not this is the right choice for them. Straight teeth are important not only because they make for a great-looking smile, but they also make for a healthier mouth. Ready to

Wondering if you should choose invisalign clear aligners as your teeth straightening option? Gone are the days when people had to choose traditional metal braces when wanting straighter teeth. This was the worse experience that I have ever had at a dental practice in over five decades. I saw Dr. Mangia after being referred by an endodontist who had done a prior root canal. I needed a new dentist because the last time that I had a crown made by another dentist, a nerve was irritated while adjusting the crown which resulted in me needing the root canal. Since then, I have had no crowns put in and have had no problem with my teeth. When I went to Dr. Mangia, we discussed placing crowns on certain teeth although, as stated, I was having no pain, etc. I told Dr. Mangia that, due my prior experience, I feared needing a root canal as a result of putting in a crown . Dr.Mangia and his assistant said that what I went through sounded terrible and assured me that it would not happen with him. After Dr. Mangia made and placed a new crown in my mouth, the crown needed adjustment. After coming to his office several time for adjustments, the tooth became painful and sensitive to cold. I suggested that I go back to the endodontist. The endodontist stated that I needed a another root canal. I was extremely distressed. This was my concern and after seeing Dr. Mangia, my nightmare came true. Dr. Mangia had written a referral to refer me back to the endodontist who referred me to Dr. Mangia which was obviously unnecessary. This allowed him to communicate with the endodontist about my dental health. Unfortunately, in my opinion, he seemed to be most concerned about whether he would have to do re-do work than my dental health. Allegedly, Dr. Mangia botched my crown which led to my need for a root canal which doubled the cost of the dental work that I had consented to, in addition to causing pain and distress. The worst part is that after I was informed that I needed a root canal, I contacted Dr. Mangia and asked him about replacing the crown. He did not agree to do it and communicated that I would have to pay again for another crown which would TRIPLE THE PRICE of the work that I originally agreed to for that ONE TOOTH. As it turns out , the first dentist wasn't so bad. He actually had a conscience and took pride in his work. He did not want a patient, who just had paid for a new crown, to have a new crown with a whole drilled in it. Dr. Mangia had no concern about this. The endodontist had said that it was acceptable to drill through a crown. When I asked for my records, Dr. Mangia made sure to send me the email from the endodontist saying that I did not need a new crown. The issue wasn't whether the endodontist thought he could drill through a crown. The issue is that a crown with a hole drilled into it does not have the structural integrity of a new crown with no drilling. This is common sense but it was also confirmed to me by two other dentists. Plus, no one wants to pay for a new crown which has a hole with filling in it. Note also that phone calls are recorded. What kind of small dental practice needs to record their patients? It concerns me that a health care provider needs to record patients because it suggests that he saving the recording in case he needs them for defense in a legal action. Dr. Mangia's day will come and I hope he is treated the way that he treated me.

I have been going to this dental practice for over fifty years and to Dr. Mangia for close to 40 years. I was just there for an hour and a half having a crown replaced the first hour and then having my teeth cleaned after. These are all the kindest people and everyone there will take care of you. Adriana answers the phone, Evelyn runs the office, Carrie assists the doctor and so much more! Then there is Dr. Mangia who is just one of a kind. Caring, gentle, concerned and a complete perfectionist. Believe me you want that in a doctor when he is putting new teeth into your mouth. They are all the best including Ovsanna and Naz who clean my teeth!

Dr Mangia came in on his day off to take care of me when I had a terrible toothache. I had just moved to Los Angeles and didn't even have a dentist, so he was a referral from a great friend of mine back home. I cannot say enough good things about him and his practice!
