Pete Gutierrez and Kathy Scures-Gutierrez came to Sebastian in 1985 after graduating from dental school at Emory University. They have studied at the internationally renowned LD Pankey Institute and Dawson Center. They are both from Florida, Miami and Winter Park, respectively and were attracted to the small town appeal of Sebastian and the proximity to the ocean. They have two children, Chase and Zoey who after graduating from Florida State University are pursuing their own careers in aviation and orthodontics. Pete enjoys surfing, kite boarding and guitar when the weather isnt cooperating for his sports! Kathy plays some tennis, runs, and likes to do art projects. The family loves to travel together, usually looking for surf in remote destinations. In the future the doctors foresee combining their love for travel with their desire to serve those without access to care in undeveloped areas.

Jen is the first person to greet and welcome you to our office. Jen will help coordinate all the care you receive in our office. She started with us as a clinical assistant in 1989 and became our patient care coordinator in 2006. She can help you to find comfortable solutions to finance a beautiful smile or just help you with routine dental care. Jen can help answer your questions and loves to see you smiling when you walk out the door. Jen is married to Bill a Licensed General Contractor in the area and they have one son, Liam. Liam will start college in the Fall at UCF and is going to pursue a medical career.

Teresa started her career as a dental assistant in 1985, graduating from Indian River Community College. She has been with our practice since 1994. As a very talented assistant, she creates beautiful temporaries and is a wiz when it comes to anything in the lab. No matter what, Teresa is sure to put a smile on your face. Teresa also enjoys spending time with her family boating and scuba diving. In her off time she can sometimes be found around town shopping with Jennifer and Valerie!

Janel was first introduced to us while interning in the 2011 Dental assisting Program at Indian River State College. In the office you may catch Janel chair side helping patients during treatment with her calm demeanor. Outside the office you will most likely catch Janel along the beach accompanied by her husband Josh, little girl Breeah and their son Emmitt.

Marcela is originally from Chile. She became a team member after graduating from IRCC Dental Hygiene program in 1991. She is well known for her communication skills and bright beautiful smile. She prides herself in devoting time to patient education and comfort. When Marcela is not working, she can be found spending time with her children and grandchildren. Granddaughter Emma lives close by in Vero Beach and Marcela flies to Cape Cod often to play with granddaughters Lydia and Vivian and grandson Weston.

Valerie received her degree in dental hygiene in 1995, graduating with the golden scaler award. Prior to dental hygiene school she worked as a certified dental assistant for 6 years. She became part of our dental family in 1996. She is still the newest hygienist all these years later. Valerie is most recognized for her outgoing personality and gentle hands. She enjoys time with her patients and being a part of keeping their smiles healthy & bright. Valerie stays busy keeping up with her husband Carlin and their UPS store in Palm Bay. She has two grown children Colton & Sydney that keep her entertained and make her very proud. The newest addition to Vals life is Ollie, her puppy who has as big a personality as the rest of her family!

Joana is the newest member of our practice. She also came to us as an intern from Indian River State College in the spring of 2015 and we hired her on full time in July. In the office, you will find Joana assisting the dentists chairside or helping in the front office. She is invested in helping patients have a wonderful experience while they are here. Outside of the office, Joana loves spending time with her family. Be on the lookout for this family and all their fun at any local restaurant! You may also see her while she is running as this is another of Joanas passions.
