Dr. Shivali Gohel is a Board Certified periodontist who is passionate about helping her patients achieve optimal oral health. In doing so, she is able to improve their overall well-being, since periodontal disease is linked to heart disease and other serious health problems. Providing an attentive, personalized treatment approach, and always aware of each persons unique concerns, Dr. Gohel caters to each patients needs. Dr. Gohels interest in dentistry started when she was nine years old and she fractured her two front teeth. When her teeth were restored, she was amazed at the difference in her life. Restoration of her teeth not only gave her back her smile, but also restored her self-confidence. She loves helping her patients regain their oral health and confidence in the same way. Dr. Gohel is committed to providing the best possible periodontal care. She is ethical, compassionate, understanding, and loves to help others.
Dr. Sinks is a native of San Diego, attending Clairemont High School and UCSD. He completed his undergraduate degree at UCLA and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Having practiced general dentistry in San Diego for four years before leaving for his residency in Periodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Dr. Sinks brings a unique perspective to his periodontal practice.
To keep up with the many changes in periodontics and implant dentistry, Dr. Sinks is continuously taking courses and seminars. The emphasis of his continuing education has been on regeneration of lost supporting tissues, placement of dental implants and aesthetic periodontal procedures.
I handle our patients treatment plans and oversee all day-to-day operations. My goal is to make sure our patients are taken care of, have a good understanding of why they are here and that their questions are answered. I try to make their periodontal visit as pleasant as possible. I have been a part of the office team here for over 22 years. Dr. Gohel is an extremely skilled doctor who truly loves what she does and is wonderful to work with. I also have the pleasure of working with Dr. Sinks. Both doctors have an amazing chairside manner and you can see they really love what they do!
With over 30 years of dental management experience, I am honored and excited to work with such an amazing team!! Each of us are caring, friendly andknowledgeable, and webring our unique personalities and love of dentistry into the office to make each patients experience a wonderful one.
My first interaction with new patients is to make them feel comfortable and make sure they have all the information that is available to them. I assist Dr. Gohel and Dr. Sinks in surgical procedures focusing on the job to make sure we achieve a safe and successful outcome. Following up with post-op patients gives me a chance to see how they are recovering and if there is anything I can do to help them along the way.
We all care so much for each other and our patients that it really doesnt feel like the typical office environment; we are all friends. Dr. Gohel and Dr. Sinks are very generous, making sure to thank everyone around them, both patients and staff and go out of their way to show their appreciation for the staff.
My career as a dental health professional began in 1989 in Flagstaff, AZ where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. As a native Californian, I chose to begin my career in San Diego in General Dentistry. After 10 years I realized my passion was in Periodontal Dentistry so I concentrated my practice in this area. I am thrilled to be working with Dr. Gohel and Dr. Sinks.
In 28 years of practice, I enjoy most of the relationships I share with my patients. My ultimate goal is to guide my patients with education. Together we will achieve your dental goals, no matter what they may be.
Providing excellent dental care, educating patients on their periodontal condition to achieve optimum oral health as well as listening to the concerns and individual needs of patients have been my professional philosophies for over 27 years.
I was born and raised in San Diego and have been working in dentistry for 39 years, starting as a dental assistant and then moving to the front office. I have enjoyed working with wonderful doctors and caring for patients. The field of dentistry has evolved over the years, especially on the insurance front. I have worked to educate myself on the continually changing insurance policies and regulations to ensure the patients are maximizing what their insurance offers. In my free time, I enjoy hiking some of San Diegos abundant trails, working in my yard and playing with my dog Link. I am also involved with my church Pathways.
I love coming to work everyday. The environment here is conducive to learning and growing. Were all willing to help each other. Dr. Gohel and Dr. Sinks are amazing. They treat us and their patients with the same love and respect.
I have been assisting in surgery for over 20 years. I love helping people develop great oral health and making patients smile. I understand people are often anxious coming to the periodontist, so I reassure them with a warm smile and positive attitude. I assist Dr. Gohel and Dr. Sinks during surgical procedures while supporting our patients. Both doctors are wonderful to work with. I have been working with Dr. Gohel since she graduated from her residency program, moving with her when she relocated to her current Clairemont office.
My career in dentistry has been 34 years in Americas Finest City. Twenty of those years were spent in general dentistry, as well as in other specialties. I had the opportunity 14 years ago to work in periodontics, and I have enjoyed it ever since. I enjoy the precision and delicateness of the art of periodontal surgery. It is a beauty in itself to appreciate. Being a surgical assistant, I am able to be side by side with the doctors to help patients understand their treatment and make sure they are comfortable. I know that Dr. Gohel and Dr. Sinks provide care and concern for their patients, which is very important to me as well. With that understanding, I know that I am part of a great team, that puts patients first and helps them every step of the way.
On beautiful days when the sun is warm and bright I try to spend time with my toes in the sand playing in the waves. The beach is the ultimate! I also enjoy fun road trips, thrifting, and antiquing.The joy of all joys is spending time with my grandchildren.

I had to have tori (excess bone) removed from my upper jaw. No surgery is pleasant, but Dr Gohel was phenomenal. I had no pain during and a rapid recovery. Can't recommend enough.

I went in for a consultation, Dr.Gohel was amazing, She answered all my questions patiently and was very kind to ease my anxieties about the procedure. I have decided to see Dr. Gohel for all my gum issues. I have already recommended her to my friends and family! :)

I love this office. There is always parking, first of all. Second I have to give a major shoutout to Amanda who works on the administrative team. She is so kind and collaborative. Her approach takes the stress out of scheduling and payment processes, which have been a little complicated for me as a grad student. I also want to acknowledge Dr. Gohel. She is the perfect balance of caring and competent as a periodontist. I had a tissue graft recently and felt confident I was in great hands, despite my usual anxiety about dental procedures. Really appreciate this office's compassion and professionalism.

Dr.gohel is amazing. She was gentle as she could considering I had some tenderness. Incredibly thoroughly, kind, knowledgeable and turned an unpleasant situation into a comfortable situation. The plan of care of clearly outlined. I would highly recommend her... I hope you don't need her but if you do. She'll definitely take care of you and get your teeth/gums back on the path to healthiness.

Gums by Gohel. I was referred by my dentist . He said that this periodontist was the best in the business. He also said that Dr. Gohel and him(my dentist) regularly keep in contact with each other regarding their patients. HE WAS RIGHT! I received excellent care, was well informed and treated with delightful employees and made to feel comfortable and respected. My procedure went very well and I could not be more pleased and appreciative. Don't waste your time with shopping around. Go directly to Dr. Gohel. EILEEN

I highly recommend seeing Dr. Shivali Gohel for all your gum needs. Her staff is very friendly and welcoming. I was nervous about the gum surgery but it was a lot easier than I expected. They took great care of me and explained everything. The recovery time was simpler than I expected. It was the prefect experience for a stressful situation.

Dr Gohel is amazing and does incredible work. She clearly explains the procedure and talks you through each step. The dental hygienists are wonderful. Everyone in the office is so welcoming and caring. I have referred her to my friends and family.

I had 5 1/2 hours of perio surgery with Dr. Gohel and as these experiences go, I'm sure it was as pleasant as possible. All of the follow up was similarly impeccable.

I have been seeing Dr Sinks, primarily for periodontal work, for the last two years and have been very satisfied with every aspect of his services. I have complete confidence in his work and in the staff at the office. In particular, Dr Sinks is an excellent communicator so I never experience any confusion regarding what's to be done in my mouth, nor do I ever have need to question his competence or honesty.

Had an absolutely perfect experience with Dr Gohel. I chose to go with a local anesthetic instead of IV sedation. The operation took about an hour and half, felt no pain throughout besides the initial pinch of the needle when the anesthetic was administered. Her and her assistants had an incredible bedside manner and made the 90mins pass in no time. After the procedure I was warned that the pain would increase over the next 4 days, and to stay on top of the Motrin I was prescribed (extra strength over the counter meds were suggested as an alternative if I didn't want the prescription). I ended up not needing any meds, felt no pain at all the next day or anytime after. This is not suggesting you should avoid the painkillers, just that for me it felt unnecessary. The healing process was quick. All this makes me think the operation was a fantastic success and Dr Gohel did amazing work. We only operated on the gum line for 2 out of the 3 teeth I was advised to due to hitting my insurance maximums for the year. And after this experience I have absolutely no concerns about returning to Dr Gohel to complete the work. I've already suggested her to several friends and family members who have mentioned that their dentist suggested they get similar work done.

I have just finished a yearlong process to have an implant done, and I have been seriously impressed the whole way through. Everyone in the office is friendly, they explain exactly what they are doing and then they do exactly that. I am extremely happy with Dr. Sinks & staff and I highly recommend them.

I am a dentist myself and I had been putting off some necessary gum grafting forever. When I finally was ready to get it done, I knew I wanted an excellent surgeon and so the only choice was Dr. Shivali Gohel. She is an precise and gentle surgeon and she got a terrific result on a tough case. I did not have any pain during the procedure or post operatively. The whole office is professional, kind, and takes excellent care of their patients. I highly recommend Dr. Gohel for all of your gum surgery and implant needs

Dr. Gohel recently performed a gum recession procedure on me. She was excellent in explaining the whole procedure to me, and her expertise made everything go smoothly. She takes a true interest in her patients, and Dr.. Gohel personally called me to follow up after the procedure!! I highly recommend Dr. Gohel for any periodontal needs!!
