The rewards of being an orthodontist are many. Not only do I get to enhance my patients dental health and appearance, but I also help them to grow up with more self-esteem and confidence. Relationships and friendships are developed over the course of treatment, and I have learned much from the many people Ive had the pleasure to meet. I have a staff that is not only professional, but fun as well. They care about our patients and are as excited about orthodontics as I am.
After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science, I was accepted into the University of Texas Dental School in Houston. After receiving my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1976, I decided to go into private dental practice to determine whichfield I would like to specialize in.
I was fascinated by orthodontics and all that could be accomplished by straightening teeth. I applied to and was accepted into the orthodontic program at the University of Texas Dental School in Houston, from whichI graduated with my certificate in orthodontics in 1985. The field of orthodontics is always changing. I keep up with the latest advances viacontinuing education courses throughout the year. In addition, I teach new residents inthe dental schools orthodontic department as a clinical professor.
I was born in a small town in West Texas called Hamlin. My family moved to Houston in 1956 and Ive been here ever since. My older son Matthew, who graduated from Texas A&M in 2004, is now married to Layla and living here in Houston. I am a proud grandfather of their daughter, Zoe. My youngerson, Nicholas, currently attends Texas A&M. My wifeLisais also a fan of Texas A&M, and we often get together with the family to go to A&M football games.
I enjoy playing golf with my sons and traveling, particularly to the Jackson, Wyoming area for hiking and wildlife photography. I have always had a fondness for animals and volunteer at the wildlife division of the SPCA, and helpto rehabilitate and release animals back into the wild. I also have many pets, some of which are dogs, cats, sugar gliders, flying squirrels, cows anddonkeys.
Dr. Allison Piazza Batarse, a native Houstonian, is thrilled to be joining Dr. Gullicks orthodontic practice. As a former patient of Dr. Gullicks she knows firsthand the excellence and personal care provided by this practice and is excited to assist her patients in improving their oral health by creating beautiful smiles and stable bite relationships. Dr. Batarse has a longstanding love of dentistry that started in the seventh grade after working at her father, Dr. Joe M. Piazzas, dental practice in Cypress and Bear Creek. There she learned many valuable lessons, including the importance of placing patients well-being first, the value of teamwork, and how compassionate care is delivered.
Dr. Batarse completed her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University with a major in Medicine, Health, and Society and minors in Biology and Chemistry. Having missed her beloved hometown, she returned to The University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, TX. She graduated in the top of her class with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. She then completed a twenty-six month orthodontic residency at one of the most prestigious orthodontic residency programs, The UT school of Dentistry, serving as chief resident. Upon graduation, she earned a Master of Science in Dentistry degree and a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Allie and her husbandmet in high school at St. Agnes Academy and Strake Jesuit and were married in 2014. The couple just welcomed their first son in October. In their free time, they enjoy spending time with their families, traveling, going to the beach, tryingnew restaurants, and taking their very large dog on walks.
Billie has been in the orthodontic field for nearly20 years. She is currently Gullick Orthodonticsoffice manager. Billie has been working with Dr. Gullick since 1998:taking care of all patient relations and making sure our office runs smoothly. Acertified dental assistant, she also helps in the clinic when needed. Billie enjoys meeting new people, seeing their beautiful smiles when they are finished with treatment and working with the friendliest team around.
Christine assists our patients with the financial aspect of their orthodontic care, and helps create a payment plan that will fit into any budget. She started working with our team in 2006 and is trilingual, which makesher very useful in communicating with our non-English-speaking patients. She treats each patient like family and is always available to answer your questions and concerns!
Nicole was born and raised in Houston, has been in the dental field for 8 years, and is a graduate of Texas A&M University. She enjoys getting to know our patients, greeting them with a friendly smile, helpful attitude, coordinating office contests, and keeping our patients up to date on office events through social media.
Nicole and her husband, Michael, have four awesome children, Tyler, Emily, Ellie, and Joseph, and a dog named Sweetie. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, decorating, and watching Aggie football!
Carla loves working with children and helping them to feel comfortable and welcomed in our office. Carla enjoys the light-hearted atmosphere our office provides, which always includes a lot of laughter. She considers her coworkers her family.
Maribell began her professional career in orthodontics in 2002. Coming across very complicated cases and the rewarding feeling of giving someone a beautiful smile made her fall in love with orthodontics. In 2011 she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Maribell enjoys providing patients with great customer service, has a keen eye for detail, and cares about her patients.
Marisol is a native Houstonian, and has been in the orthodontic field since 2002. Her love for ortho has grown over the past 17 years. Shes committed to providing a pleasant visit for her patients every time, and loves seeing the transformation of a beautiful smile.
Marisol and her husband, Joel, have been married for 17 years and have 4 amazing children, two boys, Isaiah and Jayden, and twin girls, Amaya and Amelia, and two dogs, Mason and Missy. In her free time, Marisol enjoys spending time with her family, working out, and watching the Texans, Rockets, and Astros!
Mandy is originally from the Rio Grande Valley, and has been part of our team since early 2020, after graduating from Cypress Dental Assisting School. Mandy enjoys orthodontics because she is able to assist patients in obtaining their perfect smiles.
Mandy has been married to her husband, Nolan, for five years, they have two daughters, Abigail and Gwyneth, and two dogs, Dori and Hank. In her free time, Mandy enjoys taking her girls to the park, and relaxing with family and friends
