I have been practicing for 15 years. I am a graduate of the University of Florida College of Dentistry. I practice all scopes of dentistry. My focus is on restorative and preventive dentistry. I have been placing dental implants since 2005 and continue to further my education. I have attained Fellowship status with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and membership in the World Clinical Laser & Imaging (WCLI) Institute. I also continue to further my knowledge in orthodontic and occlusion and50 to 75 hoursof continued education per year.
I was born in Colombia and came to the US in 1982, growing up in Hollywood, FL, before leaving to Gainesville to complete my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I have a bachelors degree in microbiology, a masters degree in nutritional science, and a DMD.
I have four beautiful boys and, when not practicing dentistry, I enjoy spending all my time with my boys and my awesome wife. I am involved in coaching soccer with one of my boys. I also enjoy road cycling and try to do group rides on most weekends.
I enjoy what I do and strive to have a positive outcome on the oral health of my patients. I believe in investing in technology to have better and more efficient equipment for my patients. I have invested in laser dental equipment, CAD/CAM dentistry, and dental cone beam for better planning and diagnosis.
Dr. Shane McTiernan grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He attended Temple University where he received a Bachelors of Science in Biology degree while participating in the honors program. He continued his education by completing his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University.

Dr Mauricio Martinez is an awesome dentist. Moved here from New Jersey, therefore looking for a new dentist. I was treated with a staff of smart caring and devotion I have not seen in a long time. The Dr is an awesome person and so is the staff. I had surgery yesterday and am back on my feet today! If you are looking for a dentist GO you won't regret it. Thank you Dr Martinez and your staff.

Exceptional customer service from the time I arrived until I left. They were thorough and knowledgeable. Took the time to make sure I understood the treatment plan and did not pressure me for anything unnecessary. I feel very confident with their services. The prices were very reasonable. After meeting Dr. Martinez for consultation to extract 1 tooth and perform 2 dental implants, I felt very comfortable moving forward with him and his amazing staff. The procedure was scheduled and is now completed (extraction and placement of 2 implants). During the procedure Dr Martinez and assistants made sure I was comfortable and answered any questions I had. There was no pain at all and only took about an hour and 40 minutes. Today is the day after surgery and still no pain or discomfort at all. They have scheduled follow ups to make sure healing goes well and scheduled the the date of completion whereas the final abutments and crowns will be placed. Amazing professionalism, care and integrity within this dental practice. I highly recommend Gulf Coast Smiles Denistry by Dr. Mauricio Martinez, DMD

Dr. Martinez and his staff are, without a doubt, top notch. I had in depth oral surgery and while I was healing I never had to take any pain meds, I had absolutely 0 pain. He's meticulous, thorough and you can tell he takes his profession and reputation very seriously. It's been a pleasure going there and I will continue to have all my dental work done there. I started my journey to a completely new smile in late June 2021 with Dr Mauricio Martinez DMD in Cape Coral FL. I chose him after comparing his office, location and cost with others within a 3-hour drive of my home. After researching and seeing several competitors, I chose Gulf Coast Smiles based on their close proximity to me and their affordable price for a complete BruxZir Full-Arch Zirconia Implant Prosthesis. I found Dr Martinez and everyone I came in contact with at Gulf Coast Smiles to be very friendly, knowledgeable and competent. From beginning to end I was never in any pain. Quite an accomplishment considering the number of extractions I had. Another nice plus to the whole thing was that, since I paid in full upfront, all dental insurance reimbursements were sent directly to me. Reducing my out-of-pocket expense by about 15% of the total. In conclusion, I am very thankful to Dr. Martinez and all his wonderful staff for the care I received. I am very happy with my new "movie star" smile and strong teeth that allow me to eat anything I want again! I would highly recommend Gulf Coast Smiles to anyone for any type of dental work, in fact, my wife is now a regular patient there too!

I am one that avoids dentist at all costs but my personal experience at Dr. MARTINEZ's office put all my anxieties to rest. The entire team were so accommodating, courteous, professional and made me feel comfortable. Dr. MARTINEZ knew my problem and took care it immediately and with little discomfort. What a joy it was!!
