When asked what he enjoys most about life, Marks response is a testament to his eager enthusiasm for life. I love the feeling I get in the morning knowing that every day is going to be a challenge and will be different. You dont know who youre going to meet and what case youre going to treat.

As the big brother of his close-knit family, Mark was drawn to the dental profession for the commitment of working with people and treating all patients as they are family. After practicing as a general dentist, Marks passion for root canal treatment came to fruition. He was intrigued by the intricacy and complexity of the specialty. He sees endodontics as the most technically challenging part of dentistry and realized the satisfaction he found in relieving patients of their pain.

Mark is excited about relocating to Texas, for he finds Pasadena and the greater Houston area to be a sprawling metropolis with warm people and warm weather. Marks mission for his work at Gulf Coast Endodontics is to provide patients with the highest quality endodontic care using the newest and latest technology and to do this as painlessly as possible. He takes pride in the inviting atmosphere of the office as it is paperless, state of the art, and suited to make the patient feel as comfortable as possible in a peaceful environment.

Between the warm weather and the Texas barbeque, its no mystery what about Houston appeals to two Canadian-born and Boston-educated brothers. For Mark and Matthew, who were born and raised in Ontario, the decision of where to establish their dental practiceand their liveswas easy. I love Houston! Mark says. Its new, its easy to get around in, and the people are welcoming and friendly.

Mark the eldest brother by 3 yearsgraduated from the University of Detroit Mercy. He practiced general dentistry for three years before pursuing specialty training at Boston University. He is grateful for the opportunity to study at Boston University, a reputable endodontics school, under Dr. Jeffrey Hutter the Dean of Boston University and a leading figure in the dental community.

Mark enjoys dentistry for the elements in combines: artistry, the opportunity to create something with your hands, to work with and help people, and to own your own business. The biggest challenge he has is calming the patient. Many times people have a preconceived idea of how its going to be, and my job is to persuade them that its not what they expect. Every time, people walk out surprised at how easy it was, he says.

Even though many of his hobbies arent doable in Houstonboating, water sports, and snow skiing for example he doesnt mind. It leaves that much more time for golf, and for eating barbequewhich he now understands is a hobby in itself.

What attracted Matthew to dentistry was his intrigue for the medical profession and his quest to work closely with people in efforts to improve overall health and general well being. When it comes to endodontics, he takes pride in his personal commitment of taking efforts towards preserving the natural dentition. Matthew believes that attempting to remove infection and salvaging teeth are very merciful and difficult aspects of dentistry. But, hes up for this challenge. Matthews passion for his work is apparent, as he states: Knowing that each and every day I come to work I may relieve someone of their pain is very gratifying and motivating.

He takes pride in theGulf Coast Endodonticswelcoming and calming atmosphere. His mission is to facilitate an environment where patients feel comfortable and relaxed while going through a procedure. Hes proud of the inviting and highly technical office, especially television monitors installed overhead so patients may be able to take their mind off the treatment.

When hes not treating patients, Matthew spends his time traveling, exercising, and golfing. He is excited to be living and practicing in the surrounding Houston area, for he sees it as a mecca of opportunity: with a thriving economy, warm weather and genuinely good people.

Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona Jason grew up in a hilly neighborhood nestled up against the beautiful Catalina Mountains where he learned how to hike, swim, bike, and run through the desert landscape, which he loved. As a child and adolescent, one could often find Jason exercising in Sabino Canyon State Park, which his family lived near. His mother (a nurse and artist), step father (a Cornell Anesthesiologist & OB/GYN), and grandparents encouraged little Jason to stay active with sports and to study hard. At the age of 12, Jason decided he wanted to become a dentist, but only if his dream of becoming a professional baseball player did not become reality. Dr. Shroyer stayed focused on that path. After graduating from Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson where he played basketball, football, and baseball, then he attended the University of Arizona, where he was a student athlete playing baseball for the University of Arizona Wildcats for four years, while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. Jasons dream of becoming a professional baseball player was cut short when a professional team didnt draft him. In 2001, he hung up his baseball spikes, and pursued his second passion, dentistry. In 2003, Jason was accepted to Boston University Goldman School of Dentistry where he study and treated patients for seven years earning his dental degree (D.M.D.) with honors and completing two residencies.

After completing the Endodontic program in 2010, Jason entered private practice and partnered with one of the largest, well known Endodontic practices in the Nation, Southern Arizona Endodontics in Tucson, Arizona.

In 2014 Dr. Shroyer decided to move to Texas to live in and serve the Austin Community. Since 2007, Jason had visited Texas often to soak up everything it had to offer from the great BBQ, music festivals, & outdoor activities. In 2014, Dr. Shroyer met with his friend from dental school who had been working in Austin since 2007 treating children and adults in underserved areas. The friend asked Dr. Shroyer to move to Texas to help him grow his practices in Austin. Dr. Shroyer accepted and relocated.

One of the things he likes the most about his career choice is the direct impact it has on patients wellbeing and happiness. In the field of endodontics, many of the patients who come in for treatment are experiencing pain. Alleviating someones pain is the best feeling! he says.

With all of his training and experience Jason is ready for his career in Houston. As a former baseball player with a passion for all things sports, he is eager to once again take advantage of the many athletic opportunities Houston affords, from swimming, kayaking, cycling, running, and golfing.

One of the most pleasant dentists procedures (root canal retreatment) I've had in a while, the staff knew I had anxiety and they did their best to accommodate my nervousness. From start to finish they were all amazing. Highly recommend Dr. Jason and his staff! Thank you once again.

Dr. Jason and his assistant Tasha were outstanding! Tasha thoroughly explained the process before Dr. Jason entered the room and then he reiterated everything and made sure I understood everything. The numbing is usually the worst part but the numbing gel that they use make it less painful. Throughout the whole procedure they both kept making sure I was completely comfortable! I would definitely recommend anyone who need a root canal or root canal treatment to come here!

My tooth was hurting and they could see me the same day. Dr Jason and his assistant Bianca made me feel very comfortable. The root canal procedure went fast and painless. Dr Jason is very professional. He did a perfect job. I expected my tooth to be in pain for a couple of days after the procedure, but to my great surprise it didn't hurt at all! Thank you Dr. Jason!

Terrible office staff. They sounded like robots. No genuine personality, just another payment. I got bumped from the schedule once. I spent a week trying to get a price to specific services and was told, "The dr will have to see u first before we know what services will be needed." Upon checking in at my appt, the front desk person handed me an invoice BEFORE the dr saw me. . . Why couldn't she tell me that over the phone. The assistant also sounded like a robot. The dr is was terrific, he told me exactly what to expect as he was doing it. He kept watching for pain and took care of it as needed. DR Jason did great work.

I had a tooth that another dentist had begun a root canal on, but did not finish. So I set up an appointment at Gulf Coast Dental, and let me tell you, it was the best thing I ever did. The Office is really nice and very clean. The staff are all so friendly and very nice to their customers. The doctor was also just as friendly! He talked me through every step of the procedure as he worked on my tooth, always making sure that I was comfortable. They even called me the day after to make sure I recovering okay and not experiencing any pain. I don't normally leave reviews about anything, but visiting Gulf Coast Endodontics was by far the best dental experience I've ever had. I highly reccomend them for any root canal needs you have!
