Dr. Shamik S. Vakil, also called Dr. V, was born in Houston, TX and grew up in Cleveland, TN where he graduated from Cleveland High School. Dr. V went to college at Samford University where he completed dual undergraduate degrees, earning a bachelors degree in biology and in political science. He then served on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC and abroad as a Congressional Fellow working with the International Foundation. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
While completing a two-year post-doctoral residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Dentistry, he also earned a Specialty Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and a Master of Science (MS). His residency training gave him the opportunity to gain additional skills in pediatric medicine, sedation, anesthesia, orthodontics, and behavior management.
Outside of the office, Dr. V enjoys traveling, scuba diving, hiking, concerts, cooking, and is an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast! He is also a proud supporter of all Charlotte sports teams, especially the Carolina Panthers!
Dr. Allison McMahon is a Chicago native who moved to the Charlotte area in the fall of 2020. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating cum laude with distinction in cell and structural biology. Dr. Allison received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) where she graduated with honors before continuing on at UIC for her specialty training in pediatric dentistry alongside Dr. Vakil. She enjoys working with children and strongly believes in early childhood dental care to build a lasting foundation of lifelong oral health.
I love being a pediatric dentist because I have the opportunity to really empower these kids to take care of their smiles, setting a solid foundation for a healthy smile for life. Its awesome to get to know my patients and see them grow up and accomplish such amazing things with confident smiles!
Dr. Ojas Parikh was born in Washington, DC and raised in Maryland where he earned his BS in Biology at the University of Maryland, College Park. Go Terps! He then had the privilege of living in Mumbai, India for two years studying comparative philosophy prior to dental school. Following his adventure in India, Dr. Parikh received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry earning three different awards for his leadership and service to the school and community. He then completed his postdoctoral specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the Virginia Commonwealth University, where he also earned his Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) for his research in moderate oral sedation drug regimens for pediatric dentistry patients.
Dr. Parikh is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He currently holds hospital privileges at Carolinas Healthcare System at University and Main Charlotte Hospitals, as well as the Valleygate Surgery Center.
Dr. Parikh and his wife Maitry, who is also a dentist, have a baby girl, Kaavya. Outside of the office, Dr. Parikh loves spending quality time with his family, exploring new restaurants, traveling, playing the Tabla (an Indian percussion instrument), and reading and listening to audiobooks.

We just had our first visit at this practice for my 7 year old and 4 year old. It was such a positive experience my. The kids loved the TV on the ceiling, the kind and gentle approach of the doctor and hygienist, and of course the prize at the end. The cherry on top was being able to leave by taking the slide downstairs! They are not nervous to go back in 6 months, they are actually looking forward to it!

Absolutely love this place the atmosphere is so kid friendly my daughter loves her dentist he is so patient and so kind to her he was made to work with children he never loses his cool or gets flustered if my daughter gets a little upset considering she's only 3 I love that he works with her and makes her feel comfortable and gives me tips on how I can better prepare her for dentist their nurses and staff are even more amazing I don't have to worry about losing a appointment card I get emails and text updates regarding her appointments which is 10X better and the cherry on top of it all is the nice big blue slide going from the second floor back down to the entrance she can slide down to top off the rewards of going to the dentist (they have a treat box your child can pick from as well) 10 out of 10 recommend

Amazing staff. Took my daughter for her first ever dentist appointment and they were really good and patient with her. She even had fun playing pac man and got a surprise after for being good. Highly recommend

They exceeded my expectations. They are clean, friendly and patient with kids. They looked out for my daughters interest and didn't force her to do something she didn't want to. Compared to other places I've been. I also want to mention the front desk are 100% . I highly recommend them!

Dr. Parikh is always so kind! My boys love going here. My daughter is just not a fan of the dentist at all, but the staff there helped keep her calm and kept assuring her she would be fine. Everyone there is friendly and caring. Great office and staff.

I never leave reviews but I had to. WOW what a great experience - from the fall, to fitting me in as a new patient as an emergency and complete focus when I was getting my 3 year old treatment. I am switching dentists to this practice immediately.

If you're looking for an amazing dental office for your kiddos, stop looking because you've found it! Best team, very clean and always on time, they never make you wait and are super patient with your kids of all ages and they especially know how to be around special needs children. Definitely give this place a plus! My kids love this place!

My first time ever visiting, took my 1.5 year old for her first time visit. The staff from front to back were all friendly, nice and kind to her. They made her feel super comfortable which is a PLUS bc she doesn't really like anyone. I will be switching my oldest over to growing smiles as well. Thank you Growing smiles!

Everyone was wonderful and helpful. They made my younger 2 kids want to floss, after they eat something sweet they tell me they need to go floss-that has never happened. The office is fun for the kids; Pac-Man game in the lobby, TV on the ceiling and the kids get to control the remote, cool glasses, cupcake flavored toothpaste and there is a huge tube slide going down from the 2nd floor to the first!! We drive further to this location (passing another 2 mins from our home) because it's so great. Glad we found this gem!

Staff is excellent! Both my sons really liked it. We have some cavities to fill which is a bummer- but we never felt like it was unwarranted! Highly recommend! Not to mention it is literally right next door to their Orthodontist... major win in my book.
