Parents are welcome to accompany their child for exams, especially for little ones under 3 years old! At Growing Smiles, we pride ourselves in maintaining the safest environment and that starts with your child learning to focus on our directions. Dr. Meggan believes that most children listen better if they hear directions from one person. Therefore, she welcomes you to accompany your child during dental exams as a silent partner and she will share all of her findings with you after the examination is complete.

We promise to speak candidly with you about your childs dental health and treatment, and we always encourage you to ask questions. If Dr. Meggan feels your child will benefit from your presence during a restorative visit she may ask that you accompany your child during these times as well. Michigan native and Grand Valley State University Laker, Dr. Meggan McCone, proudly brings her skills and expertise in treating children back to West Michigan. Her warm and compassionate demeanor and calm confidence will help to put your child at ease. Grand Rapids Pediatric Dentist Dr. Meggan enjoys educating parents and encourages you to ask questions about your childs oral health. She strives to serve her patients by combining outstanding care with an exceptional and informative experience for your family.

Dr. Meggan received her Bachelors in Science from Grand Valley State University. In her junior and senior year of college she volunteered for Tooth Time at the Grand Rapids Children Museum, where she realized that her passion involved working with children of all ages and backgrounds. She went on to attend the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where she led the Jonathan Taft Society advocating for access to dental care with a focus on community service.

After dental school, she completed her pediatric dental residency at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Naples, Florida where she served as chief resident. While there, she trained to specialize in comprehensive preventive and restorative dentistry for infants, children and adolescents including children who have special health care needs. Dr. Meggan also trained in various behavior guidance techniques, as well as sedation and hospital dentistry for children who may benefit from such services to complete their dental care.

Her approach with each child is unique and she has the ability to adapt for your childs individual success. Dr. Meggan is a diplomate in the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.Informed parents realize the advantages of their children receiving care from pediatric specialists with board certification and membership in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Nina has been working in dentistry for almost seven years and has been with the Growing Smiles team for the last year. Before that, she was an elementary school teacher for six years. Her experience working with young kids makes her a valuable addition to our practice. Nina has a passion for working with children, their families, and our team to help them learn and grow. She is a lifelong learner and loves how her role here that allows her to meet new people and take on new tasks!

Melissa has been with Growing Smiles for almost a year and has been working in pediatric dentistry for four years. Melissa loves seeing and interacting with kids every day. She also loves the atmosphere here as it is a calm and peaceful place to work! Melissa makes sure parents understand treatment plans, pediatric dental needs, and associated investments. She helps ensure a smooth process from start to finish for your child's dental needs.

Erica has been with Growing Smiles for the past year and is one of the first friendly faces youll see when you step into our office. She has been coordinating schedules for seven years and is a rockstar at getting our families checked in and acquainted with the proper paperwork needed for their visit. She loves working with kids and seeing their faces light up when they come out to their parents after a successful visit and get to choose a new toy!

Kelly has been with Growing Smiles for almost three years, and she is our rockstar billing and accounts specialist. In addition to helping you with your account and insurance questions, Kelly is also a dental hygienist. She graduated with a dental hygiene degree from Ferris State University in 2012 and has been a hygienist for nine years. Her dual knowledge makes for excellent customer service as she can address both your clinical needs and billing questions.

Emily has been in pediatric dentistry for 11 years and has been at Growing Smiles for almost three years. She graduated with a bachelors degree in dental hygiene from Northern Arizona University in 2016 and has been a hygienist for five years. She loves working with kids because they tell the best stories and give the greatest learning opportunities. Emily is not only a dental hygienist but also the integrations coordinator at Growing Smiles. She is always looking for ways to learn and grow.

Traci has been working at Growing Smiles for seven years! She graduated with a dental hygiene degree from Ferris State University in 1986 and has been a hygienist for 35 years. She previously worked in general dentistry but found that she had a passion for pediatric dentistry and joined our team. Her extensive experience helps your children maintain good oral health and learn about how to take care of their teeth.

Jenn has been with Growing Smiles for over a year and works with us on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She graduated from Grand Rapids Community College in 2011 and has been a hygienist for ten years. Jenn previously worked in general dentistry and, after subbing with us, decided that pediatrics was her next move! She works to keep your childs teeth and gums clean and healthy. She is an outstanding addition to our Growing Smiles team and does a great job multitasking and helping where needed.

Amanda is our lead dental assistant and has been with Growing Smiles for seven years. She is a Registered Dental Assistant and graduated from Grand Rapids Community College in 2003. Amanda takes care of so much behind the scenes to keep our office running smoothly! She does an extraordinary job helping parents understand the necessary care we recommend for their little ones.

Emma has been with Growing Smiles for three years. She is a Registered Dental Assistant and graduated from Northwestern Michigan College in 2017. Emma has a background in endodontics and moved to Grand Rapids, MI, to work with kids. We are so happy to have her as she is excellent with our young patients. Emma is empathetic, kind, and provides exceptional chairside care. Our little patients love to hear stories about her two dogs!

Emily has been with Growing Smiles for five years. She loves working side by side with our fantastic team every day. She also loves to help kids and parents feel comfortable in the dental care environment. There is nothing more rewarding to her than a successful visit.
