I really wanted to leave a 5 star rating but I struggled, due to the lack of superior customer service when the scheduling staff called to confirm my kids appointments. I could hardly understand what she was saying, much less the lack of enthusiasm was insane. When working in that position, specifically a pediatric office, there needs to be a certain amount of bubbly personality and enthusiasm when speaking to patients and/or their parents. Despite this, Dr. Ross and his assistants are phenomenal and they most definitely get a 5 star rating!

Hello, I want to tell you guys that this place saved my son's teeth! We went to Dr. MURPHY and it did not turn out well, they gave us a heart drop and something horrific that YOU WILL NOT WANT YOUR KIDS TO GO THROUGH. I was so stressed out I called every dental that would take Medicaid, this place happened to pick up and helped us out. They were like the light at the end of the tunnel. Even when their schedule is fully booked, they took my sons in to give me a 2nd option, a 2nd opinion. It was a heavy weight lifted off my husband and I. This place is kids friendly and I'm so happy they took us in. I'm so thankful they cared about my son's teeth.

Absolutely amazing team, my kids love coming to the dentist. What 4 year old and 7 year old loves going to the dentist right? Well mine do and only because Growing Smiles of Morganton have been so great with both of my kids. Their prior dentistry was a different story they didn't like going and was skeptical their first time at Growing Smiles but now it's enjoyable to them everytime we come. Thank you Growing Smiles of Morganton!!

Our children have had many many appointments over the years. We have had appointments with pediatric occupational therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physical Therapists, endocrinologist, ophthalmologist, orthodontist and so on.... Never have any of them EVER given our appointment, or in this case all four of our children's appointments to someone else. We were early! We had NEVER missed an appointment! But because I missed a phone call on Friday informing us that if we did not confirm by 1pm on Friday that all four children's appointments would be canceled .. I did however receive a text message with an appointment reminder on Saturday. Imagine how shocked we were that all four appointments had been given to emergencies. This is something that is hard for small children and especially those with special needs to comprehend. We asked to speak to the office manager, but she never came out of her office. The receptionist informed us that we would not be charged a fee because we showed up. SERIOUSLY, we have always shown up! My point is like most families these days we are very very busy. They were indignant. We were told we could reschedule our cleanings several months out. Our six year old had two baby teeth that needed to be looked at as they were causing problems with her adult teeth. We spent the next few hours explaining the situation to our four children and re-explaining it over and over to our child with special needs reassuring him that he did nothing wrong. Luckily, we found another dentist office that could quickly see us. I understand a fee for a missed appointment. I do not understand canceling appointments for those of us that have never missed an appointment. We asked, "when did they start this new policy.. "She said , "it's always been our policy.", Really? Where is this, confirm by a certain hour or be canceled, policy? I could not find it on their website and have never seen it displayed anywhere in the office. In over four years with this practice we have never had this happen. I guess it's their policy when they can fill an appointment with "emergencies". An Emergency is probably more profitable than cleanings and now four children have their preventive cleaning canceled... We have had other offices call/text to reschedule for different reasons. We would have gladly rescheduled our appointments, but they canceled all of them, and I guess never updated the system. I even replied Monday morning to my Saturday text that my COVID form would not go through. They knew we were still coming and said nothing. Once we arrived She smugly informed me we were not going to be seen. Unsympathetic , as if I had broken a rule, that clearly from other reviews, only the office staff knows of its existence. In our experience most offices that work with children actually care about their young patients and are not rudely making an example out of them in front of other families in the lobby. My children and I were caught off guard, truly dumbfounded, by the way we were being talked to. We are involved with several local groups and whenever a parent asks where to take their children. I quickly let them know how we were treated by this practice.

**Edit to add** The owner did reach out and try to make amends. The building was designed beautifully and most of the staff was pleasant. The woman who processes insurance claims is a lazy human being. Over the last ten years and numerous doctors/dentists later this was the only person who REFUSED to look up insurance information. My husband is military so we have been to several places over the years. When I signed up for insurance I called the Tricare dental number and submitted my application, made the payment, and 20 days later we had dental insurance. I did not receive cards and I have always used my dependant ID. This woman required me to have the company name, the adress, and the phone number. Every place I have ever been too would do their job and look it up. I called my regular dentist and got the company name but that wasn't good enough for her. She wanted me to call the insurance company and if you have ever called Tricare before then you know it's a MINIMUM of 15 minutes on hold. I was already stressed out about my daughter who doesn't handle s trangers well, so we just left.

I haven't had a negative experience with this dentist until today. I guess my issue was really just with the office staff and the confirmation policy. My daughter (nearly 4 years old) had an appointment at 9 this morning. Yesterday I thought it was weird that I didn't get a reminder call, and in hindsight my mistake was not calling them about that. In any case, I have a 2 month old as well and we were running a few minutes behind. I called to let them know, and the employee who answered the phone told me her appointment had been cancelled because it wasn't confirmed. I asked her if I had to reschedule because I hadn't confirmed it and she said it had to be confirmed by call or text. The thing is I never got a call or a text, so I told her that. She said they tried but couldn't leave a voicemail and I had opted out of text messages. I have no memory of opting out of text messages or receiving a text over the last few days. However, I KNOW I had no missed calls from them because there is nothing in my phone from them over even the last several weeks. And my voicemail is fine, we tested it after she said that and there was no problem leaving a message. I don't know if the system is automated or up to employees but either no call/text actually happened, or it was not to the right number despite her telling me it was the number I was using. Moreover, my husband called them afterward to get more details about the confirmation policy. She told him I still could have come in today. I don't know if that's true as she never said that to me. And she told him we had made the appointment 6 months in advance. The last time we were there was December 28th and that is when we made this appointment (for March 29th, so 3 months in advance) I don't know if there was confusion or straight up lies, but we won't be back there. My daughter said she was sad her appointment was canceled, but still happy because we were together. So overall she had a better outlook than me - I was furious. Wish I could give less than one star after this.

This place is absolutely wonderful! We've gone there for years now and when we began my oldest was absolutely terrified, my middle wouldn't get off my lap and his head out of my chest to even be examined, my youngest wouldn't lay down either. Now, they all go by theirselves and are so cooperative and excited to go! They love Dr. Matt!

They dismissed my children from coming back saying I missed 2 appointments although I have the appointments which were written on magnets and stated I came on the wrong day that I came on the 31 of august instead of 30th. I was never told anything about coming on the wrong day when I came for the appointment. So when we missed 1 appointment that I knew about they said it was the second and would not reschedule. No communication about fines being sent out I never got any notices even though they say they sent them. They shouldnt penalize children from coming for decisions of their parents I take responsibility for missing the appointment so it shouldn't go against the children in any case.
