At the age of seventeen I knocked out my upper front teeth while playing basketball. This accident hurt like heck, but worse was the thought of being toothless for the rest of my life. Little did I know then about the science and innovation that dentistry offered. In just a short time my teeth were saved and my smile restored.

I 've often told my staff, 'I could never be a general dentist!' Why? Because it is so much more exciting and fun interacting with kids. No two days are ever the same and there is never a dull moment. Kids are witty and keep me on my toes. They are innocent and help me be a better person.

All of this is why I'd like to invite and welcome you to Growing Smiles Dentistry. Here we treat each child like our own. Our mission is to provide quality oral healthcare and to make dentistry fun and inviting. Whether a routine check-up, fillings, or a visit to fix a knocked-out tooth, our hope is that your child feels welcome, has a good experience, and leaves with a smile!

I love hiking, fishing, camping and am also a Zumba fitness instructor with two beautiful daughters. I enjoy meeting all our wonderful patients and getting to know so many great families in our community. It's a pleasure to help make it possible for them to get the dental care they need. Ensuring each child has a warm and inviting experience with every visit is top priority for our Doctor and Staff. We want each child to feel comfortable and excited about coming to see us and leave with a sparkling smile (and a ballon).

Here at Growing Smiles we strive to be prepared for any emergency situation. All of our staff are CPR certified and up to date with all OSHA rules and regulations. We periodically have emergency procedure reviews and Dr. Heckert is PALS certified.

All of our assistants have gone through Dental Assisting School and earned their Registered Dental Assistant Certificate. We also attend continuing education throughout the year to insure we provide the best standard of care avaliable.

As others have mentioned. They are a great dentist, but their ethics are not so great. Our children were patients there for several years and we would pay our balance at the end of each appointment. After a visit we were mistakenly told there was no balance due. Lo and behold we take our children in a month later and are told we have an outstanding balance we need to pay before our children can be seen. I asked the receptionist if we could pay now and be seen that day for our scheduled appointment. Nope, it has been sent to collections. The receptionist told us we could reschedule the appointment for the next week after we had payed our bill. So I go home and pay our balance due. The following week I go in for our scheduled appointment and am told my children are no longer patients because we had been sent to collections. They wasted my time by rescheduling an appointment that was never going to happen, which for a place claiming to be professional was a very childish and immature way to handle the situation. Their ethics are horrible. Being one of the only pediatric dentists in our area that accepted our insurance we were left without a dentist for our children. Knowing this is how they operate makes me glad we don't see them anymore.

I recently called this office to make an appointment for my son, a patient there already. We had an appointment scheduled early March and we never received a confirmation call, I wrongfully assumed I had the date wrong. I called yesterday to find they have take my FOUR YEAR OLD SON off their patient list and REFUSE TO SEE HIM AGAIN. Why you ask??? A TWELVE DOLLAR outstanding payment, that I was not aware of. They said they had called. They left a voicemail from a random number on a Saturday. I called back and no one answered. They said they had mailed us something but to the wrong address, which I admit, I did not update. But did they ask? And why not call me to confirm my son's appointment and say, " however, we will not see him unless you pay your outstanding balance of $12". Instead they took us off their patient list without even letting us know. I offered to pay as this was just a miscommunication and the woman told me " no, your son can no longer be seen here" My son is four, he had become comfortable with that office. Now we have to find a new one, in a small town where there is a health and dental care shortage. GROWING SMILES IS NOT ABOUT THE CHILDREN. THEY ARE AWARE THAT THEY HAVE THE UPPER HAND IN REGARD TO DEMAND BUT GIVE TWO SH!TS ABOUT HOW THEY AFFECT THE CHILDREN BUY RIGIDLY CUTTING THEM OFF FOR A MEASLY $12. To the DENTAL STAFF's ( not office) defense they have always been kind.

Not what it used to be. I watched the changed happen. First it was negative statements about co-workers and dentist while they cleaned my child's teeth, then demanding calls about copays that they had forgotten to charge. I over looked this as disgruntled employees, until they started becoming easily frustrated and unkind to my son. We moved to Humboldt Smiles and love it!

Get a anesthesiologist with bed side manner. Someone who isn't going to raise their voice at the patients parents because of their concern. Tell them that their daughters heart rate jumping up is irrelevant while she still hadn't woke up from anesthesia . & for the Dentist to not say a WORD! Not even to apologize for the way his worker has acted is beyond me. Also not to mention my child's cap fell off 2 days later while eating CEREAL. I call and they're on vacation. Not a word was mentioned to us, they didn't send us home with any paperwork explaining care either. Just sent us on our way. I could dig further into our nightmare experience but I think you get the point.

I was adamant about finding a pediatric dentist, especially after the experience I had with Redwood Rural (I will never go there again). I found Growing Smiles on the internet, I had an emergency with my 5 yo. They accommodated us so well we were able to see Dr Heckertt within 1 hour. Super professional staff of wonderful women, and Dr Heckertt was amazing. Looking forward to a long relationship!

I've been taking my kids here for quite some time now, before Dr. Heckert took over. My children have always received excellent care. I have found the over-all experience to be warmer and friendlier under Dr. Heckert; though that is not to say it was lacking before. About the only negative is he's a Warriors fan, but hey, nobody is perfect!

I have been taking my children to Growing Smiles Dentistry since 2007. Normally, kids don't like going to the dentist, but this place makes kids always looking forward for their next appointment. The reception gals are always nice and friendly, the Dental Hygienists in the back are just wonderful and very good with the kids. Dr. Heckert is amazing and very caring.
