Growing Grins Pediatric Dentistry - Pediatric dentist in Zelienople, PA

Dr. Jessie was a graduate of North Allegheny High School in Wexford, PA. She knew at a young age she wanted a career in healthcare, particularly a pediatric field. The focus of Dr. Jessies dental education from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine was that oral health is a part of overall health. That viewpoint is reflected in the unparalleled medical training graduates from the dental school receive as they are enrolled in the Harvard Medical School for the first two years with the medical students (Except the dental students also have extra dental classes, too!). This extensive medical knowledge has been particularly important for Dr. Jessie as a pediatric dentist to enable her to consider all aspects of a childs health when providing treatment, as well as being a preferred provider for patients with special healthcare needs. During her time in dental school, Dr. Jessie co-founded a dental student-run free pediatric dental clinic for underserved youth, as well as performed research published in the journal Pediatric Dentistry, investigating access to care issues for children with special healthcare needs. These experiences helped create the foundation for Dr. Jessie to further develop her skills and passion for pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Jessie continued her education at Nationwide Childrens Hospital in Columbus, OH, one of the top childrens hospitals in the country, where she earned her certificate in pediatric dentistry under the instruction of world-renowned leaders in the specialty. While in residency, Dr. Jessie acted as a Chief resident and also earned a Masters of Science in Dentistry from The Ohio State University. Dr. Jessie continues to practice evidence-based dentistry demonstrated through completion of the rigorous board certification process and maintenance of diplomate status, yearly continuing education courses, and membership in local journal clubs as well as the American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

After residency, Dr. Jessie and her husband returned home to Pittsburgh to raise their family. She has spent the last nine years in private practice as well as acting as a part-time Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. In 2020, Dr. Jessie decided it was the perfect time to start building her own dental practice, then COVID-19 hit. While plans were delayed a few months, she is excited to be providing the type of dental home for all children that she would want for her own family.

As a military family with 15 years active duty, we've seen a lot of Pediatric Dentist throughout the years in many different states. Our experience with Dr Hoffman and her staff/clinic has been the absolute WORST!! From care, communication, staff - I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone, military or civilian. After our first initial visit, my son then had to wait 3 months to get 2 cavities filled. When I called to reschedule due to a SNOW STORM, I was told he would have wait another 2 months (5 months total) if I rescheduled or I would have to risk the weather, and safety of myself and my child an DRIVE IN A SNOW STORM to make the appointment. Which I did. And when I arrived there was no where to park as the parking lots had not even been plowed. Dr Hoffman nor her staff did anything to work with me or my child. I again, am met with the same situation with my oldest child having an 8am appointment and also needing to be at school for PSSA testing starting at 915am. Called to try and reschedule and the next appointment is afternoon, to which I can not make since my husband is deployed and I can not be in two places at one time. At the dentist at 3pm with one child and picking up another at 320pm when the office is 20 mins away from the school and the appointment is "scheduled for 45 mins" give or take - it depends on Dr Hoffman (insert eyeroll). AND then next appointment after that is JULY! I was told this morning by the lady who answered the phone "she doesn't have a crystal ball" ... being raised in the south, I have manners and clearly this clinic and the staff DO NOT! I canceled both of my kids appointments and will not be back EVER and I will make sure to spread the word on social media to civilian and military families that this clinic is not the place you want to spend your time, money or energy on.

They are beyond words great!! They put my kids on the emergency cancelation list and got son in a week later instead of waiting 2 months till his next appointment. The staff and Dr was great with my kids and making the experience easy and calming as possible with a kid that doesn't understand what it takes to get their teeth fixed. The office is very clean and nice. Very bright and fun colors for the kids. I highly recommend this office

Had to get my 6 year old in for an emergency apt due to an infected tooth. They got her in right away, were straight and to the point regarding treatment, and are very good with my daughter. Her first appointment there was very traumatic because she had to have 2 molars pulled. Her second apt for a cleaning was still scary for her, but they do great keeping calm and not giving attention to the "scary stuff". We will be back in May for more work & sedation since she is so scared. Would recommend Dr. Hoffman to anyone!! She was great and not judgemental at all.

This is the a GREAT pediatric dentistry. I took my 4 year old here as the guinea pig because my 8 year old is more picky and sensitive when it comes to doctors etc etc and let me just say everything was above expectations. The wait is a little bit once you're in the back but honestly the care and patience they ALL give is worth it. The receptionist is soo sweet and funny too. Granted I'm not the patient but my kids are WILLING to come here without fighting me. We travel 30 minutes to get here but for quality treatment we will absolutely go with this place!

I could not be happier with our experience here. It was my son's first dental appt and on top of that, he has a dental injury. When I called, I was given an appt the next morning for the trauma injury. Other places I called were offering 4-6 weeks out. The office atmosphere was great and everyone was thorough and helpful. Dr Hoffman was fantastic too. This makes me want to bring my kids to the dentist more often!

My daughter was referred here. Worst experience ever. The receptionist was rude. He spelled my name wrong and I corrected him he said that doesn't particularly matter right now. Yes actually it does beings I am the parent. Then I was informed I would not be allowed in the room as my daughter would be sedated. I'll be looking elsewhere to get a second opinion as well as exercise my rights as a parent. I'll never recommend anyone to go here.

Took my 4 year old in for an emergency visit when she knocked out her front tooth playing! They got her in right away and were very caring and understanding. They also were very gentle and amazing with her! I know have my 3 kids go here as they are very polite and helpful! the biggest thing to me is that they are amazing with my kids! I recommend to everyone I can!

We were seeking a second opinion on the dental work needing done for my daughters- Dr. Jesse was thorough, understanding & patient as I asked numerous questions and voiced my concerns. She explained everything in detail to my kids and I before and during both the exams and dental work. Her office staff also went above and beyond in assisting with coverage review and making sure I was comfortable with treatment options. I cannot say enough good things, would highly recommend Dr. Jesse to anyone!

We drive 40 minutes just to see Dr.Jessie since she opened her own practice. She is absolutely amazing with my kids, they feel so comfortable with her and so do I. She is very through and makes sure to show me everything she is talking about and answers any and all questions my kids or I have. Everyone at the office is very friendly and accommodating. I refer all my friends with kids to her!

Excellent care and concern for my child. This was her first visit and Dr Jesse and staff simply explained what we needed to do to care for my daughter's teeth now and as she develops. She explained the need for brushing flossing and fluoride. If Dr Jesse provided care for adults I would be a patient.

I went in for one problem tooth and was told my child had several cavities. Dr. Jessie Hoffman insisted the use of Stainless Steel Crowns. After doing some research I asked what other composite we could use. That was the ONLY option she gave. Stainless is an alloy which contains Nickel, a metal that is toxic to humans. She could not tell me the % of Nickel in the compound so in between visits, I got a second opinion. She questioned as to why i felt i needed a second opinion. I did opt to have her extract the initial problem tooth and after the extraction she scolded me for refusing her fluoride treatment. I do not want fluoride on my child's teeth. She also told me that "just so I know" she has the power to report anything SHE deems dental neglect to authorities. She then said, "not that I'm saying you're are being neglectful." Dr. Hoffman was very condescending and dismissive of anything that did not involve her procedure$. I prefer Informed Consent as it should be. At no point was I given any of the negatives involving Stainless Crowns of which there are many. UPDATE...after going somewhere else I was told there were not 7 cavities. There were 3.

My daughter has sensory disorder and slight autism. I was recommended to take her here, due to her conditions. I am very cautious with dentists, due to past negative experiences. However, everyone was so patient and kind with my daughter. The receptionist and other staff were polite and listened to anything we said or asked. Usually doctors get frustrated when my daughter starts to panic. Instead, the staff helped us keep her calm. Also, they let us stay with her until the procedure, and let us see her as soon as she started to wake up. The next day I missed their call, but they called again the next day, to check on how my daughter was doing. They even took my phone call, after hours, for a concern I had. I'm happy to have Growing Grins Pediatric Dentistry as my daughter's dentist team. Thank you all so much!

Had a great first experience taking my 6 month old to the dentist the first time! Decided on a whim to try and schedule a first appointment now that my son had teeth coming in to get him use to the dentist early and Dr. Jessie and her staff were able to fit us in on a Friday afternoon! He only had a few teeth and I knew this appointment was more for me than anything else but Dr. Jessie was great with him and walked through everything she was doing and was very gentle with him. I held him on my lap while she did the examination. It was a great first experience for my son and informative for the parent as well!
