Our dental team is pleased to make our services available to you based on prevention, education, and treatment of the whole person. We provide comprehensive care in all phases of Cosmetic, Restorative, and Reconstructive Dentistry, and in the prevention of periodontal disease. We are certified in the delivery of conscious sedation techniques (Nitrous Oxide, gas) which along with the use of suggestion and relaxation techniques are an excellent way for anxious patients to become more comfortable about receiving treatment.
We have been privileged to provide full family care and treatment of children for 40 years here in Coconut Grove. In 1978, we opened our practice on Mary Street in Coconut Grove. Since then, our practice has blossomed and our staff has grown accordingly. We have enjoyed many wonderful relationships with clients that make up our diverse community.
The dress is casual, but our professional attitudes are not. Prevention and the holistic model are the foundation of all we do in our quest for optimum oral health. Our teeth and related structures play multiple roles beyond nourishment. Teeth hold our faces up literally and figuratively. Without Dental Support, we experience collapse, not just skeletal and facial, but in the way, we feel about ourselves. Optimum oral health promotes a feeling of confidence, vigor, and psychological well being. Our mouths are instruments of our verbal and non-verbal communications. The integrity and appearance of our teeth have much to do with our feelings of security and health. Tension and relaxation are reflected in how we hold our jaws. Dr. Parr graduated from Columbia School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1975, and received post-graduate education at the Mount Sinai Hospital General Practice Residency, gaining advanced training in all disciplines of Dentistry. In 1978, Dr. Parr opened the practice on Mary Street in Coconut Grove, free to develop a practice dedicated to delivering dentistry in an atmosphere as free from patient anxiety as possible.
Dr. Parr returned to Mount Sinai as an attending for the Dental Interns in the Restorative Department in the Dental Practice Residency for over ten years. Dr. Parr has also been involved in the Dade County Dental Research Clinic since 1980 for continuing education and treatment of indigents. In 1986, the practice moved to its present location on Bird Avenue with the acquisition of our building and more space to provide treatment for our growing practice. Dr. Parr has also completed 5 levels of exceptional training at the prestigious Pankey Institute.
Recognized as one of South Floridas leading family, cosmetic and reconstructive dentists, Dr. Rita Dargham has over a decade of experience in the art and science of creating healthy and beautiful smiles. Dr. Dargham completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Miami, later proceeding to the University of Florida where she graduated with honors, earning her Doctorate in Medical Dentistry in May of 1997. Furthering her studies, she completed her post-graduate training at the Miami Veterans Administration Hospital, concentrating on Implant and Reconstructive Dentistry.
Respected for her expertise in Smile Reconstruction and Enhancement, Dr. Darghams philosophy is centered in achieving the balance between health and natural beauty when designing her patients smile image. Customized technology utilizing porcelain veneers, crowns, bondings, tooth-colored restorations, and dental implants assists her and her team in providing her patients with long-lasting dentistry they would be proud to smile about for many years to come. Whether with Invisalign Orthodontics, Teeth Whitening, or Dental Dermal Fillers, Dr. Darghams experience has enabled beautiful and healthy smiles.
Dr. Dargham is an active member of numerous and well-respected dental organizations and educational institutes that serve to continuously enhance her ability to provide her patients with successful treatment in all facets of dentistry. She serves as a participant in the Florida Dental Association, the American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the LD Pankey Institute, and the Seattle Study Club Organization, among others.
Through Operation Smile, a nonprofit medical organization, Dr. Dargham has discovered an invaluable way to see the world while simultaneously donating her time and expertise to treat children and young adults suffering from the ill-effects of a congenital defect known as cleft lip and palate. While visiting numerous underdeveloped countries, she has offered education, treatment and support to these underprivileged societies. The experience of watching a child enjoy the new-found ability to function and smile has served as a life-altering and rewarding gift.

Maria has been practicing Hygiene therapy in our practice since 1986. She is very skilled in motivation, education, prevention, and Soft Tissue Management (Healthy gums). We are proud to have such a talented, personable, and caring professional on our Preventive Team.

Luisa is a certified dental assistant working with Dr. Parr since 1986. In addition to assisting Dr. Parr, she has become the clinical coordinator without whom our therapists would be lost. Luisa is a caring and empathetic facilitator, there for you with a smile, explanation, and encouragement.

their amazing reviews, but I have had a very disappointing experience. They mentioned to me at 3 different times that my insurance will cover 100% of my visit, which ended being not true. I had to be 50% of it, even though they assured that I would have to pay nothing so they had tripled checked with my insurance. When I received the bill, I mentioned it to them, and they didn't care at all. Communication with this clinic is terrible, whenever they examine your xrays they will just send you a quote by email, no explanations given. I am not sure where all those positive reviews come from. My experience is that this dentist, the same as many others, only cares about getting your money from your wallet. They will have to even promise you a neighbors discount, preventing care and treatments and so. Please be careful, they won't promise what they offer to you. They have to be more transparent, honest, improve their communication and deliver what they promised. Not an option. Not to mention that while doctor was examining me, he received 4 different phone calls so he had to reply to all of those

The entire team at Grove Smiles is amazing. Maria, the hygienist is simply the most wonderful human being on earth. Kind, gentle and thorough, she is by far the best hygienist I ever had. Dr. Parr just did some major work on my teeth, fixing a loose crown with decay underneath plus 2 pretty significant fillings and did an awesome job. I also did Invisalign work with Dr. Dargham who is so sweet, caring and excellent at deciding the right plan for you. Just make sure to bring a jacket because the office is freezing and enjoy the oldies tunes! Thanks for your care and attention today and always!

A dental office like no other! Dr. Parr and team are amazing! Needed help with a cracked tooth while on vacation and they fit me in right away, then went out of their way to refer me to and coordinate an appointment that same day with a great oral surgeon for a root canal. Excellent team providing fabulous care in a fun and relaxing space that makes you smile as soon as you walk in. So grateful for such a great experience and result!

Since 1996, Maria has been my hygienist - she is the BEST. Gentle, thorough, reassuring, super-professional - I cannot say how much of a positive influence she's had on my home-care practices. She completely removes the stress of going to the dentist. Dr Parr is a seasoned pro, and he and his team provide outstanding dental care. After 25 years I am moving away from Miami and I am so sad to leave them behind!

This is an excellent dentist office. Maria is an outstanding hygienist to whom I have been going to for over 10 years. Dr Parr is equally outstanding and they have a welcoming professional and fun environment. Its odd for someone to look forward to their cleanings and dentist visits but I truly do. They deserve a sixth star.

I have enjoyed 23 years of incomparable treatment by Dr. Parr and his staff. Maria is truly the Michelangelo of hygienists. She is nothing short of extraordinary. I have never been able to get my teeth cleaned as well anywhere else. I moved back to CT 8 years ago and I make the trip to Miami every year to see these amazingly gifted professionals. Dr. Parr's dental work has always been perfect. You'll never want another dental team. And the best part is that they really care about you and treat you accordingly.

They did a good job of cleaning my teeth and office was very clean with friendly staff & Maria the hygienist. However, the wait time was quite long and I ended up being there for over 2 hours in between cleanings and check ups. I unfortunately received some insensitive comments regarding my background & backhanded compliments during my experience with the dentist, so for these reasons I will be choosing to go elsewhere.

My husband and I have been going to Grove Smiles since 1990. My son started two years later at the age of two. We have been under the outstanding care of Dr. Stephen Parr and Dental Hygienist, Maria Michelena for 30 years. Dr. Parr has a unique mastery and technique when performing any procedure. His recommendation to wear a mouth guard while sleeping eliminated permanent neck pain and morning headaches. Ms. Michelena's dedication to proper dental health is evident in the detailed way she carries out her cleaning, as is her genuine interest in educating patients. The office has implemented all the safeguards and adjustments to ensure the safety of patients during this pandemic. Where most medical practices today have a tag-team set-up, Grove Smiles continues to provide personal and knowledgeable care to every patient.
