My favorite part of working in orthodontics is seeing my patients at the end of their treatment. Whensomeone seestheir new smile for the first time, the joy on their face isunforgettable. I have been in the exclusive practice of orthodontics in the Springfield community for more than 30 years, and each dayI still look forward tocoming into the office and seeing patients.
I am a graduate of Springfield College, where I earned my Associate's degree, and the University of Illinois, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Dentistry as well as my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Ireceived my Master of Science degree in Dentistry and Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics at St. Louis University.
My wife, Lu Ann, and I enjoy traveling, outdoor activities, sports, and spending time with our family, especially our two grandchildren. We are actively involved in our church, and I am a board member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
My career in orthodontics has always been an incredible and exciting experience. I truly enjoy helping patients transform their smiles into something that will give them more confidence and self- esteem. It is a very rewarding feeling to know that, at the end of each workday, you have made a positive difference in the life of a patient.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree and Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Southern Illinois University and was elected into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor and Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Societies. During my formal education, I also received the American Academy of Oral Medicine Award. I underwent my specialty training and received my Master of Science degree in Orthodontics from St. Louis University.I was awarded theKenneth J. Marshall Merit Awardbeing the class valedictorian in1991. I complete continuing education courses regularly to stay informed of the latest in techniques and procedure innovations to provide my patients the highest quality of orthodontic care.
I am an active church member and am passionate about the sports of tennis and golf. I am an avid St. Louis Blues hockey fan as well. I enjoy boating and love spending time on the water with my children and friends. I am especiallyblessed to sharelifes adventures with my wife Cathy and our two sons James and Thomas.
I am an Illinois native and graduate of Carthage High School. I went on to attend Greenville College, in Greenville, Illinois and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. I received my Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, Illinois. It was at SIU where I developed an interest in the specialty of orthodontics. I attended Seton Hill University Center for Orthodontics in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and earned my Master of Science in Orthodontics and a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2013.
I was trained in evidence-based decision-making and maintain great confidence knowing that all of my clinical decisions are backed by the highest quality of orthodontic research available. I believe this practice allows me to give patients the most effective treatment in the most efficient manner. My patients have a variety of treatment options available to them, such as metal braces, clear braces, Invisalign, and more.
I met my husband Zach at Greenville College, where we were members of the cross country and track teams. He is currently finishing his final semester of dental school at Southern Illinois University, and plans to practice general dentistry in the Springfield area. In my free time, I love the outdoors, running, spending time with my family, and playing with our two dogs, Cali and Kona. I am an avid traveler, enjoy cooking, and am actively involved in my home church.

Our orthodontic assistants will help you prepare for your visit with the doctor. They ask if you have any concerns regarding your treatment, check to see if there are any loose or broken appliances, and assist the doctor with the treatment process.

What an inviting space! Recently I had to bring younger siblings along to our appointment. The kids reading nook kept them busy and entertained. They really do seek to make the experience comfortable for everyone!

Wonderful, super knowledgeable staff! They've walked us through every step of the process and never hesitate to answer questions. Our daughter had a bracket come off and they got us in immediately. We are so pleased we chose Dr. Middleton!

Friendly office. Dr. Longos and staff were so warm and welcoming and made my daughter feel at ease. We had a great consultation. No pressure to get anything done, rather, was very conservative with our situation which was great!

DO NOT ATTEND THIS PRACTICE! The Doctors, especially Doctor Tom, is highly unprofessional and rude to his clients. I went to get an internship for the summer in Chicago, and he told me that was fine. Being a busy college student, I could not go into the office on Thursday when he was there and was only able to go on Wednesday. I was also trying to get my teeth straighten out for jaw surgery. When I found out I wasn't ready for surgery, He blamed me for the late deadline because of my internship and said that I can't run off and get other ones. Excuse me!?! Your team deserves the blame for not working as a team on this and not be accommodating. Charges a lot of money, takes forever and blames the clients entirely. I was doing everything he recommended, but blamed me because I was trying to build my future. Unless you want to be harassed and unprofessionally be treated, you are better off taking your time and money else where.

I paid for my sons braces in full before treatment started. We had an unexpected move in the middle of our treatment plan. I approached the office about getting a refund amount for the amount of work and services that my son would not be finishing up at this office. The office was unfair and unreasonable in the amount of money that they gave me back for the work that was left to do on my sons braces. The lady I talked to was rude and hung up on me and they were very unfair with the amount of money they refunded me. I would not recommend this office to anyone looking for braces treatment in the Springfield, IL area.

The absolute best staff around. You're always welcomed with a smile. I enjoy the personal aspect of their care. The staff are always asking how my little girl is doing. Central Illinois couldn't ask for a better orthodontics staff and company.
