Meet our team at RBK Pediatrics! Please take a few moments to learn about our skilled practitioners and our friendly, nurturing staff. A vital part of our service to children begins with our outstanding staff who works hard to manage and maintain a professional, caring and supportive environment for our patients in a timely manner. Our doctors are lifelong learners. Not only have they received advanced medical training in pediatrics, they continually pursue ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest in child health care. Your childs health is as important to us as it is to you. We look forward to providing you with excellent medical care your child deserves.
RBK Pediatrics is a practice devoted to the care of children from birth through the college years. It is our feeling that we should not encourage patients to leave at age 18 years. It is frequently more convenient and efficacious for a young adult during college to continue with us rather than looking for a new physician. Certainly the patients ultimately make this decision on an individual basis.
Exams for newborn infants are performed at 2 week of age, then at 6 weeks of age. Visits will then occur at a frequency of every one-month until 8 months when it slows down to every two months until 12 months of age. After that visits will be every three months until 2 years of age and then it is yearly. Some weight checks may also be done within the first six months. This recommended schedule is designed by the AAP to accommodate the numerous vaccines that need to be administered and to examine the development of the baby. A deviation from this schedule may occur depending on the well care limitation of your insurance company. Please contact them and find out how many well baby check-ups are allowed.
Office laboratory Procedures Our in-office lab is capable of doing throat cultures for strep (including rapid testing), urinalysis, urine cultures, hematocrits (test for anemia), mono screening, testing for occult blood in stools

A pediatrician is a medical doctor who specializes in the care of children. Pediatricians have undergone special training in the health and illnesses of infants, teens and young adults. The majority of pediatricians are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics after passing a comprehensive exam.
Pediatricians provide preventive health care for children in good health and medical care for children who are acutely or chronically ill. They also provide parents with support and advice with issues such as growth and development, safety and prevention, nutrition and emotional wellness to foster a lifetime of good health.
Your child should not only see the pediatrician for an illness, but for checkups as well. It is important to schedule well-child care exams regularly, beginning in infancy. These routine examinations provide the best opportunity for the doctor to observe the progress of your childs physical and mental growth and development; to counsel and teach parents; to detect problems through screening tests; to provide immunizations, and to get to know one another. Well-child care visits are strongly recommended as part of preventive pediatric care.
Vaccinations are a series of shots given to children at different ages to help ward off serious, and potentially fatal, childhood diseases. Making sure your child receives vaccinations when scheduled is the best way to help protect your child from potentially fatal diseases. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, vaccinations have reduced the number of infections from vaccine-preventable diseases by more than 90%. If youre apprehensive about vaccinations, please do not hesitate to contact our office or visit our page on vaccinations.
