Hello! I have found that people have the best experience in my practice when we get to know their situation by listening. When we take the time to understand others it builds the depth and richness of our community. I have been fortunate to live in San Luis Obispo for almost 3 decades and have been practicing dentistry since 2012.
Journey: I went to SLO high and then to UC Davis for engineering school leading to a career launching satellites into orbit with Boeing Space Systems. I decided to combine my passion for solving engineering problems with the art of creating beautiful smiles and entered UCLA in 2008 to study dentistry. There my attention to detail, love for science, and mind for creativity all came together.

By combining quality patient care with up-to-date technology, we are able to treat patients of all ages in a comfortable and relaxing setting. BEST Dental Experiences EVER! Over and over again. Professional. Personable. Kind hearted. Minimally invasive. Dr. Thurston is a He is a master of his craft. He is an artist. I have a lot of dental anxiety from previous dental work when I was a kid (and adult). This is the best place to get dental work done PERIOD. It's the gold standard. I drive 2.5 hours to see Dr Thurston now. A few years ago, I was driving 6.5 hours to see him. It's that good. I will be coming here as long as he chooses to practice. I love Dr. Thurston and his staff They are all very patient, professional, competent, caring, helpful, and kind. Alex Taylor If I lived nearby, I'd ask them over for dinner. I can't say enough. The absolute best practice I have ever been to. I had an emergency with some massive pain, and had been getting pushed aside for 2 days. Dr Thurston got me in within a couple hours of calling in the morning and gave me relief within MINUTES. I was literally in horrifying, agonizing pain until I got to this office and they helped. You can't put a price on that. Dr Thurston and his staff are all very warm and welcoming and go out of their way to make sure you feel taken care of. If you're looking for a new practice, had a bad experience, or just need a second opinion, give these guys a call, you won't regret it. Thank you SO MUCH to you and your staff Dr Thurston

Just had my first appointment with Dr. Thurston and his team, and I have to agree with the other reviewers - this place is great! It's a small practice and they really care for the whole person, not just for your teeth. Dr. Thurston believes in minimally invasive dentistry, so you don't have to worry about him recommending a whole bunch of unnecessary procedures which has happened to me before. The office has a different vibe than most dentists, less clinical and more casual, which I think helped me feel a little bit more at ease. I am new to the area and was relying on reviews to help me find a dentist, so I just wanted to contribute my two cents. If you're considering Dr. Thurston's office, to go for it!

I recently was advised to have a crown placed on a tooth and sought out Dr. Thurston's opinion on the best way to proceed. He presented a plan after an examination with the possibility of filling the tooth with a web and composite filling. Yesterday we proceeded and a crown was not necessary and it was a seamless experience. Today it is as if I never went to the dentist. A relaxing office environment with a friendly and competent staff.

I have had several great experiences at this practice. My routine cleanings have been good, and I just recently needed an old filling replaced. Dr. Thurston listened to my concerns, and was willing to work with me so that I did not get the numbing shots (at my request). I am really grateful and will be returning for all future care. This might seem small -- but with their cleanings they give out a unique toothbrush, and it cleans better than any of the standard ones I have been given before at other dental practices! I now buy them for my family too.

I 100% never thought I'd get to the point where I could say I'm not nervous going to the dentist, yet here I am! Dr. Greg is the nicest guy and makes you feel right at home and like you're part of the Thurston dental family. The office is clean and they are following proper covid-19 procedures. The staff is incredible... I love this place and am thinking about chewing on some rocks so I have an excuse to go in before my next cleaning! Hahaha. Seriously, though... if you don't go here already, it's time to switch!

Dr. Thurston is the most excellent dentist! He thrives on doing your teeth exactly correct. His "chairside manner" is calm and easy to talk with and his staff continues that same vibe throughout the entire office.

Fantastic dental experience! Excellent dexterity when performing procedures.Caring and gentle. I have had quite a bit of dental work done, mainly replacing silver fillings with porcelain crowns with different dentists. I know a good dentist when I encounter one. I can confidently say Dr Thurston is a GREAT dentist. (Excellent staff as well)

Love this dentist office! Everyone there is so friendly and welcoming. They are all helpful and make sure to answer all of your questions. I couldn't recommned it more. I just had some comsmetic work done to my front teeth and Dr. Thurston did an amazing job, I couldn't be more happy. GO HERE IF YOU WANT A GOOD DENTIST!

Dr. Thurston and Taylor and the staff are the nicest people and I couldn't be happier with them as my primary dental care. They have all the new tech equipment and work carefully and quickly while making sure you are comfortable. They also play great music! If you are looking for a new dentist, I would 10/10 recommend Gregory Pearce Thurston, DDS!

I had an abscessed root that occurred over the weekend, Dr. Thurston's staff was willing to work with my short notice and I was in there first thing Monday morning! The office was very clean and welcoming. His wonderful hygienist Taylor was amazing and quickly took an x ray! Dr Thurston explained what was going on and gave me all of the options (and explained the benefits and downsides to each)! He advised me on what would be the best course of action for my particular situation. He was very professional and thorough and addressed the after care and maintenance that I should expect. The whole experience was wonderful and I'll definitely be going back! I have always been terrified of dental visits but Dr. Thurston and his amazing staff made it my first enjoyable visit!!!

I was a patient of Dr. Freburg for years (who has now retired), and I became a patient of Dr. Thurston when he took over the practice. I have been very happy with the care I have received. The communication via text has been great. I loved seeing the digital x-rays of my teeth at my last appointment. I recommend Dr. Thurston if you are looking for a dentist on the Central Coast!
