Dr. Phillips is a native Hoosier, growing up in Northwest Indiana. After attending Indiana University in Bloomington and graduating from Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD), he practiced restorative dentistry for 5 years. With the support of his loving family, he returned to IUSD to complete a residency in periodontics with a minor in oral pathology. After graduating in 1992 with a Masters of Science in Dentistry and Certificate in Periodontics, he opened his current practice in Columbus, Indiana.
In addition to The Columbus Center for Periodontics and Dental Implants, Dr. Phillips is involved in dental education holding the position of Clinical Professor of Periodontics at IUSD and is involved with Spear Education in Scottsdale, Arizona. He maintains the Columbus Dental Forum, a study club for dentists in and around the Columbus area. He has presented at local, state and national meetings.
Dr. Phillips is a Past President of the Indiana Dental Association and has authored several scientific articles on periodontics and dental Implantology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and has been awarded Fellowships in The American College of Dentists, The International College of Dentists, The International Team for Implantology and The Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Maria has been with Dr. Phillips' office since March of 2017. She graduated from the Indiana Dental Academy in Indianapolis in 2012. She is a dedicated team member and takes pride in providing quality dental care to every patient. In her spare time, Maria likes to travel, work out at the gym and spend quality time with her family.
Syd is a brand new Dental Assistant and has quickly become a valuable member of our team. This is her first assisting position since graduating from the Dental Careers Foundation in Indianapolis in November 2022. Syd is all that she learned in school and molding it to become the best dental assistant for our patients. In her free time, Syd enjoys reading, traveling, writing and watching movies. She has an orange cat named Mochi and a tiny black dog named Frosty.
Lyndsey has been a dental hygienist since 2010 and has been a part of our team since January 2018. She graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry hygiene program. She has experience working in general dentistry settings as well as periodontal practices. Lyndsey loves singing and dancing so don't be surprised if you hear her singing throughout the office. In her free-time, Lyndsey enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband, Ryan, have four children and two dogs.
Stephanie has been a dental hygienist for 40 years. She graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry hygiene program. Stephanie has practiced not only in periodontal offices but in pediatric and general dentistry offices as well. She has a vast knowledge of the field she works in and is very compassionate and caring to her patients. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family and dogs. Stephanie is a very active member in her church and the Resident Encounter Christ (REC) program through the Bartholomew County Jail.
Michelle has been with Dr. Phillips' office since 2009. She graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with a Technical Certificate in Dental Assisting. She began working with Dr. Phillips as a dental assistant and then as the Financial Coordinator. Michelle recently transitioned to a new position in our practice called the Office Ambassador. In this role, Michelle acts as a liaison between the restorative dentistry practices we work with and our practice. She ensures seamless communication between the practices and shares relevant information to enhance patient care. Michelle also coordinates the Spear Study Club meetings for Dr. Phillips. Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband, Aarik, and their daughter, Quinn. They have a dog, Maree, and two cats, Indie and Chewi.
