Born and raised in Syracuse, Dr. Gregory Sweeney graduated from West Genesse High School and went on to SUNY Cortland College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1992. Thereafter, he continued his education at the University of Buffalo and graduated from their dental program in 1997 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Sweeney moved back home to Syracuse, with his family and completed his dental residency at University Hospital in Syracuse in 1998.
His late grandfather, Dr. Harry T. Sweeney, was a well recognized and very accomplished dentist in the area. He is the one who sparked the interest of dentistry for Dr. Gregory Sweeney. He has been in private practice since 1998 when he bought the practice from his predecessor, Dr. Loren James, which he established in 1969. Dr. Gregory Sweeney cares about his patients and provides the care that they need and deserve. He puts his patients at ease with his kind demeanor and listens carefully to what his patients have to say. Not only is his demeanor gentle, but his dentistry is extremely gentle and he makes each visit easy to get through.

As a family man, Dr. Sweeney enjoys spending his spare time with his wife and three children. He enjoys going to the gym to stay healthy and active. He also enjoys most sports, the Adirondacks where he likes to vacation with his family, coaching his boys on their hockey teams, and watching his daughter play soccer. He is a very dedicated husband and father.

Dr. Sweeney continues to excel in all areas of his profession. After a complicated re-filling of old fillings he mentioned I would be sore for a day or two after the numbness wore off. There was no soreness at all. I was not surprised. We are blessed as a family to be able to turn to him for all our dental needs. Additionally his staff are also a pleasure to deal with and have to to turn to while the procedure is being performed.

Dr. Sweeney and his staff create the most welcoming atmosphere I've ever experienced at a Dental (or any other Healthcare) Office. Novocaine does not work very well on me and when I had to have a procedure done that required it, Dr Sweeney and his staff went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and pain-free. I always know I am getting the very best care and can not recommend this practice enough to anyone who needs a great dentist. --M.E.

Love my dentist! Dr. Sweeney is awesome. His work is exceptional and they have latest in equipment and technology. His office will always try to accommodate your appointments even in an emergency. I've been going there for years, as has my family, and highly recommend them.

Dr. Sweeney and his staff are second to none, moved to Syracuse last summer and was referred to him by several people. Dr. Sweeney and his staff are very professional, competent and friendly. Transferred often during my work history and have never seen a Dentist or his entire staff as efficient as they are, making a trip to the Dentist a more enjoyable experience!
