While working with today's advanced techniques, Dr. Shain maintains the values of the country practice where he worked for 15 years. Because there were no specialists, he practiced all disciplines of dentistry to the benefit of the community.
Dr. Greg Shain is highly experienced in providing superior dental care. For fourteen years, Dr. Shain provided patients with care in Carlsbad, California, before moving to Apple Valley in 2010. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in South Africa, in 1972, at the University of Johannesburg Oral and Dental Hospital - a school accredited by the American Dental Association, The California Dental Association, and the California Board of Examiners.
Studying in South Africa prepared Dr. Shain to take the California State Board Exams when he arrived here in the United States in 1985. Luke Iwata, D.D.S., the head of the International Student Exchange Program at Loma Linda University at the time, mentored Dr. Shain. Under his guidance, Dr. Shain passed his exams on his first try in the top tenth percentile.
In 2010, Dr. Shain purchased a well-established dental practice from retiring founder, Dr. Sandoval. Dr. Sandoval took great care in choosing a patient-oriented, highly qualified dentist to take over his practice, and he was highly confident in his decision to pass the torch to Dr. Shain. Many of Dr. Sandoval's family members still visit Dr. Shain for their dental needs!
You could say Dr. Shain is a sort of superhero of dental care. His degree, certificates, and continuing education courses provide him with the skills and the know-how to perform everything from general and cosmetic dentistry to root canal therapy to orthodontics, dental implants and dentures. He is also a member of Tri County Dental Society, American Dental Association, and California Dental Association.

Laura is our Dental Hygienist. She has been working in the dental field for 30 years, enjoying 25 years as a Registered Dental Hygienist. She graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry with a Bachelor of Science. In her spare time you might find Laura spending time with her husband of 21 years and her 3 beautiful children or cuddled up with a great book!
Jen is our office manager. She has been working in the dental field for over 17 years. Jen loves spending time with her two boys and her husband/ high school sweetheart. Jen enjoys camping, going off road, and hanging out with family and friends.

I have in the past had a very bad experience at the dentist after researching I found Dr. Shain. I read all of his reviews and decided to make an appointment. I was very pleased with my experience the staff and Dr. Shain are very friendly and made me feel comfortable. He really understood my fear and anxiety and never pushed me or got angry. I don't usually do reviews but felt this office really deserves it.

This place is amazing. First, I am TERRIFIED of the dentist. On my first and second visit the ladies at the front desk help put me at ease. I was seen as soon as I filled out my paperwork. The dental tech was sweet and also put me at ease. Dr. Shain came in and again like his staff , made me feel at ease. Dr. Shain was helpful, never made me feel rushed, answered all my questions and was informative not forceful about my care plan. On my third visit Dr. Shain prescribed me medication that helped me with my anxiety (for which I'm thankful). The dental tech who helped with the procedure was new. I can tell Dr. Shain takes care in hiring new techs. The tech was knowledgeable and very empathetic. I never felt pain during the procedure. For the results so far I am very pleased. As for the final results I will have to put an update to my review but I'm sure will be amazing.

Having a Mom who worked in the dental field, I am very picky about who I trust and I fully trust Dr Shain. I also very much appreciate that his office is well run and timely with a super friendly, competent staff! Even though it might not always be under the best circumstances that I need to visit, Dr Shain and his staff always make my visits as positive and pleasant as possible. So glad they were recommended to me and I highly recommend them to anyone wanting the best dental care and experience.

I have extreme anxiety about going to the dentist. Dr. Shain is so patient and kind and answers all my questions. I never feel rushed in his office. He is very gentle during procedures and is okay with giving options to ease my anxiety. Jen and Yoli are so nice, too. I need a lot of work done on my teeth because I've avoided the dentist so much and they never make me feel embarrassed by it. I tried other dentists in between my visits with Dr. Shain, but his office is the BEST. Thank you Dr. Shain and staff!
