Dr. Wilson H. Ackerman graduated from Lander University in 2004 and continued his education at College of Charleston before attending the Medical University of South Carolina, where he received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine. Dr. Ackerman excelled at MUSC where he was on the Deans list all 4 years and also received the Senior Esthetic Dentistry Award. Upon graduation, Dr. Ackerman was awarded with The Rural Dentist Incentive Program, due to his commitment in returning to practice in Greenwood, SC which is considered a Health Professional Shortage Area. Dr. Wilson H. Ackerman is the son of Dr. Gray Ackerman and the nephew of Dr. Steve Ackerman, both of who recently retired from over 30 years of practicing dentistry.
Dr. Ackerman is a caring, talented and compassionate professional who believes that each patient should be treated based on their own individual needs. He is dedicated to ensuring that his patients receive the highest quality dental care by gaining additional knowledge through continuing education courses and local study clubs. He recently attended a Zimmer implant restorative course in Carlsbad, California, where he gained additional knowledge in the restoration of dental implants. Dr. Ackerman is an active member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association and the Upper Savannah Dental Society.
Dr. Ackerman is a devoted husband to his wife, Laura Ackerman, who is also a Greenwood native. They are the proud parents of Ellis Kate, Wyatt and Sellars; who are 10 years old, 8 years and 5 years old respectively. Dr. Ackerman enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and anything outdoors.
Katie graduated from Horry Georgetown Technical college in May 2017 and joined our team as a dental hygienist in 2019. She has her anesthesia license which allows her patients to remain comfortable during treatment. Katie is also certified to administer CPR and nitrous oxide sedation.
Katie and her husband, Josh, reside in the Greenwood area and are the proud parents of their 2 children; Blakely and Braxton. If you find Katie on her days off, she will be enjoying the great outdoors with friends and family.
Mary-Grace graduated from Greenville Technical College and joined our team in 2017 as a dental hygienist. She has her anesthesia license which allows her patients to remain comfortable during treatment. Mary-Grace is also certified to administer CPR and nitrous oxide sedation.
Jennifer and her husband, Bill, reside in Hodges and are the proud parents of their three children; Nick, Mason and Kylie. During her free time, she enjoys shopping and spending time with family and friends.
Lauren joined Greenwood Family Dentistry as a dental assistant in 2020. She graduated from Greenville Technical college with an Associates degree in Applied Science and a Dental Assisting certification. Lauren is certified to administer nitrous oxide and perform CPR.
Lauren lives in the Donalds area and has two dogs named Dixie and Daisy. When she is not working with us, you can find Lauren hanging out with her family and friends. She enjoys kayaking, cheering on her Clemson Tigers, and baking sweets.
Dena is a resident of Greenwood. She has over 27 years of dental experience and has been part of our front office team since 2014. She enjoys working in dentistry, meeting new people and making patients feel at home while at our office.
Dena and her husband, Ken, are the proud parents of their two sons, Jake and Tyler. They are actively involved with St. Mark United Methodist Church. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping, reading and going to the beach.

The best dentist I've ever been to for tooth extraction. It didn't hurt, not much swelling, & excellent post care instructions. Staff very friendly & professional! No pressure on decision making future services. Will continue to visit this dental practice.

Please stop reading these 5* reviews and come see the this staff for yourself. When i tell you this is the absolute best staff of people i have ever seen i mean it. I came in for a teeth cleaning i was super nervous but the lady took really good care of me and made me feel comfortable through out the process if i could give them 10 stars i would they are truly amazing at what they do so please dont look any further. Choose the best and they are the absolute best

Absolutely fantastic!! The staff is very friendly and acted as if I had been going there for years! I haven't been to a dentist in awhile and everyone had told me it was hard to find a good, new dentist. Well, I picked the best one! Jason was/is the best hygienist. He was VERY through and I love that! I like to know what's going on. He explained everything that he was doing when he was doing it. He told me about all the newfangled technology that I had no idea about. Dr. Ackerman was super nice and friendly. He answered any and every question that I had. He also explained everything that is going on and I'm looking forward to my next appointment! Ya'll rock!

I started going to Greenwood Family Dentistry when Dr. Ackerman's dad and uncle owned it. I loved Dr. Steve. I was upset when he retired but found out that the business was staying in the family and decided to stay and give him a try. I love Dr. Ackerman and his staff too! Everyone is always very friendly and professional. I never feel anxious about going. I highly recommend Greenwood Family Dentistry!!

If I could give zero I would!! I brought my daughter in there to get cavities filled I mentioned several times that she has anxiety and they said it was fine they deal with it all the time. They call me back and my daughter is numbed up and they say they aren't going to do it bc she was crying, while talking to the dr he looked out of it and almost like he was on something. He just didn't want to deal with it and now I'm beyond mad bc now my daughter thinks she doesn't have to go through with things bc she's a little scared!!

During my recent visit for a routine cleaning, I was very satisfied with everything! The office staff, hygienist, and dentist were very efficient and pleasant. The office and room were cleaned and many precautions were taken so that I felt completely safe. I highly recommend Greenwood Family Dentistry!

As someone that experiences anxiety as it relates to dental visits, suffice it to say that I was LONG overdue for a visit to the dentist. My hygienist was great about explaining what she was doing, was good at doing it and was also a pleasure to talk with when her fingers weren't in my mouth. Dr. Ackerman was equally as pleasant. The entire visit made me feel silly for having such anxiety, because even after so long since my last office visit to a dentist, the entire appointment was easy and now I'm not quite as nervous about going back in six months!
