Over a period of time, the jaw bone associated with missing teeth atrophies and is reabsorbed. This often leaves a condition in which there is poor quality and quantity of bone suitable for the placement of dental implants. In these situations, most patients are not candidates for the placement of dental implants.
With bone grafting we now have the opportunity to not only replace bone where it is missing, but we also have the ability to promote new bone growth in that location. This not only gives us the opportunity to place implants of proper length and width, it also gives us a chance to restore functionality and aesthetic appearance.
Autogenous bone grafts, also known as autografts, are made from your own bone, taken from somewhere else in the body. The bone is typically harvested from the chin, jaw, lower leg bone, hip, or the skull. Autogenous bone grafts are advantageous in that the graft material is your own live bone, meaning it contains living cellular elements that enhances bone growth, also eliminating the risk of your body rejecting the graft material since it comes from you.
Allogenic bone, or allograft, is dead bone harvested from a cadaver, then processed using a freeze-dry method to extract the water via a vacuum. Unlike autogenous bone, allogenic bone cannot produce new bone on its own. Rather, it serves as a framework, or scaffold, over which bone from the surrounding bony walls can grow to fill the defect or void.
Xenogenic bone is derived from non-living bone of another species, usually a cow. The bone is processed at very high temperatures to avoid the potential for immune rejection and contamination. Like allogenic grafts, xenogenic grafts serve as a framework for bone from the surrounding area to grow and fill the void.
Both allogenic and xenogenic bone grafting have an advantage of not requiring a second procedure to harvest your own bone, as with autografts. However, because these options lack autografts bone-forming properties, bone regeneration may take longer than with autografts, and have a less predictable outcome.
This product is processed allograft bone, containing collagen, proteins, and growth factors that are extracted from the allograft bone. It is available in the form of powder, putty, chips, or as a gel that can be injected through a syringe.
Graft composites consist of other bone graft materials and growth factors to achieve the benefits of a variety of substances. Some combinations may include: collagen/ceramic composite, which closely resembles the composition of natural bone, DBM combined with bone marrow cells, which aid in the growth of new bone, or a collagen/ceramic/autograft composite.
Synthetic materials also have the advantage of not requiring a second procedure to harvest bone, reducing risk and pain. Each bone grafting option has its own risks and benefits. I got my implant surgery done and the doctors, staff are outstanding. I loved the office, its clean with state of the art of machines. The staff are friendly and amazing - English is my 2nd lanuage so it doesnt come naturally to me but the entire team were all super patient and explained to me the process at the pace that I can follow. The Dr. Shahzad was super nice and explained to me the entire surgery process from start to finish - it was really helpful. I would highly recommend the team and the doctors at the Green Valley Oral Surgery.

I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted yesterday and I was so impressed with how good my experience was. Everyone was friendly. The surgeon, Dr. Pietroski and the assistant, Terryl were amazingly talented. The whole process was so fast and completely painless. Today, the very next day, I woke up feeling refreshed and well-rested for the first time in a long while. I'm already back at work. Thank you.

My son had his wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Petrowski 2 at a time two years apart and both times , he did not experience any pain during the surgery and no complications afterwards. So when I finally decided to have mine extracted, I went back to Green Valley Oral Surgery and had Dr. Petrowski take all 4 out all at once and this happened just last week. I was nervous as heck but I knew I was in expert hands, and sure enough, he did a terrific job and did it in less than 30 minutes. My husband who was my designated driver was so impressed and told me he'll get his done at this place by Dr. Petrowski as well. His surgery assistant was superb as well (wish I could remember her name), very kind and made sure I was comfortable. She took the time explaining everything to me, the procedure and what to do afterwards. I highly recommend this place!!!

I have severe PTSD of dentists from trauma as a child and so I put off having two teeth extracted for almost 6 years and the staff here were amazing and I kind of feel like the fear of getting work done is dissipating. Its the day after my surgery and i feel great, dont even need the pain meds. Dr. Ahn was amazing

Everyone extremely friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking good customer service, however I'm regretting every having the surgery done. I went in for a tooth ache. Had my right lower wisdom tooth pulled. I'm on day 5 after the procedure. After following all of the directions given. My pain is a medication resistant 10 out of 10 pretty much at all times with no relief. It has affected my ability to work, sleep, interact I can barely move my jaw to speak from pain. Because I have a demanding job I can't be at home. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has gone through this but I cannot give a 5 star review when I can barely open my right eye to see the other 2 stars on the screen 5 days after removing a tooth. At this point I regret my decision to have the tooth removed and would have rather medicated the tooth ache til it subsided as it had done many time before. I'm sorry to the staff and doctors that were helpful and friendly. The survey came in at a very bad time.

Got my Wisdom Tooth removed by Dr Kurram Shazad! What an awesome personality and equally delightful person. Removed my wisdom tooth easily and with no pain! Green Valley Oral Surgery and Dr Kurram Shazad were brilliant at my Wisdom Tooth Extraction. Making my Oral Surgery very pleasant and extremely efficient. Julius and Bronson were very nice as well as all the other staff that assisted getting my wisdom tooth extracted. Green Valley Oral for my Oral Surgery and Wisdom Tooth Extraction, was easy to find and located in Fairfield CA, and also very easy to find and best compared to wisdom tooth extraction located elsewhere like Vallejo, Benicia, American Canyon and Napa. Went there for a tooth pulled. They were all very very nice! I actually really like this place. It was my first time ever coming here. And let me tell you, I have had three teeth pulled in my life and this was the fastest I have ever got it pulled. They are amazing they are fast and they are efficient. And super nice which I appreciate. Oh and they squeeze me in to their appointments so when I called I got it in the next few days. This is definitely the spot!

I really like the Dr. DEN J.FEDOROWICZ, when I first arrived at Green Valley Oral Surgery. Was very nervous and scared . The staff members were very professional, knowledgeable, courteous. I also like how clean and clutter free the office is. The Dr. DENIST J.FEDOROWICZ is very professional, knowledgeable, courteous. He also informed me that I may have some swelling from my wisdom tooth being removed. After the wisdom tooth was pulled I did have some bleeding, I followed the instructions that Dr. J. Fedorowicz provided to me, as well turning in the prescription for medication and mouth wash. Unfortunately for the medication part the line at pharmacy was very busy. So I wasn't able to turn the prescription in till the next day. Later on that Dr. J. Fedorowicz. called to check up on me. When I talked with him told him was doing okay . The next day I looked at the mirror to check my face. To see if there was swelling, I was very happy to say, there was no swelling. I also turned in prescription for medication . I was able to get all my medication and mouth wash. The only one that I didn't get was the pain medication with Tylenol. Reason for not getting medication with Tylenol was I'm allergic to it. Other than that I didn't really have any pain problems. I really like how everything worked out and very happy to be patient at Green Valley Oral Surgery. I would recommend Green Valley Oral Surgery. This place is not to far from Travis Air Force Base which is very good. I have already recommended this office to friends and family members. Keep up the very good work . Also take care probably will be back to have other wisdom teeth removed . Yours Truly Juan

Was able to get me in immediately after-hours for an extraction, which meant I only had to have discomfort for a minimum amount of time. Plus they were able to get me a bone graft and start an implant the same day. After procedure care has been stellar as well. Wholly satisfied and very thankful for their service.
