Dr. Colene Grecian was born in Iowa City, Iowa and she grew up south of Iowa City. She has lived in Iowa all her life. She grew up on a farm and knows the values of hard work and family life. She graduated from Lone Tree Community School (1974) and later attended dental hygiene school at Hawkeye Institute of Technology, graduating in 1979. During her time as a hygienist, she worked for several periodontists (1979-1991), University of Iowa Hospital, and also the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in the periodontal department.

Dr. Grecian is married to Paul (Skip) Anderson. Dr. Grecians daughter, Erika, is currently attending the University of Iowa, in the College of Pharmacy, where she will receive her Doctorate in Pharmacy. Skip also has two sons and five grandchildren, whom they are all very proud. Dr. Grecian and her husband live on a farm just south of Marshalltown, near Laurel. They enjoy riding their two horses and spending time with their two dogs, and four barn cats. They also like to travel and spend time with friends when time allows.
