Greater Endodontics - Endodontist in Salt Lake City, UT

If you're searching for an apicoectomy specialist, youve come to the right place. Greater Endodontics is recognized as one of the best endodontist offices in Utah and specializes in saving teeth. Our offices see a regular intake of patients who undergo procedures such as root canals, dental implants, apicoectomy procedures and more.

Weve laid out what exactly you need to know about apicoectomies, including the frequently asked questions and a breakdown of the procedure. For any remaining questions, dont hesitate to get in contact with us. We know that dental procedures are scary, but under the care of a skilled apicoectomy specialist, you have nothing to worry about.

The dental procedure of an apicoectomy is also known as a root-end resection. Apicoectomies are a common dental surgical procedure that removes the apex of the tooth, or the very tip of the root of the tooth.

This procedure maintains the integrity and use of your natural tooth while also removing any infection that may have been caused by a root canal. An apicoectomy may also be performed because root canals are an option.

During the procedure, an apicoectomy specialist opens the gum tissue near the infected tooth to reveal underlying bone and tissue. The apex of the tooth and any surrounding infection is removed. Then a filling is used to seal the end of the root canal, and the area is stitched closed.

As with any medical procedure, youll have questions about what it is, how it works and what the recovery period is like. Weve compiled a list of frequently asked questions about apicoectomies and their accompanying answers.

Its likely youll need an apicoectomy if youve had an unsuccessful root canal or the root of your troublesome tooth is very infected. An apicoectomy is the best procedure and alternative to saving and preserving the integrity of your tooth.

The procedure itself is not painful as you are under sedation and the area is numbed. Apicoectomies are meant to alleviate pain, as they remove the infected part of your tooth. After the procedure, however, its normal to feel some pain in the area. This pain can be remedied by taking some ibuprofen when needed. You may feel some soreness in the area for another week or so after the procedure, but it will fade away in time.

At Greater Endodontics, the main goal is to save teeth. Infected teeth are typically treated with root canals, but for some patients this treatment is not successful or possible. So instead, a second root canal is performed to completely remove any lingering infection. However, when the infection is significant or has spread to the root tip of the tooth, an apicoectomy is preferable.

Before and after your procedure, we will go over aftercare instructions so that you can better facilitate healing and minimize pain. You can expect the area to be fully healed within three weeks after the procedure. Some time after the three weeks, youll have a follow up with your apicoectomy specialist.

At Greater Endodontics, theres nothing more that we pride ourselves on than providing superior endodontic and dental care. Everything we do is to preserve and save peoples teeth and procedures like apicoectomies are just a drop in the bucket of the services we perform.

While some general dentists may be qualified to perform oral surgery, they mainly stick to cleanings, fillings and other minor work. Our staff consists of industry-leading, highly experienced dental implant specialists with years of specialty training. With modern dental technology and techniques, Greater Endodontics assures a quick, safe and accurate dental implant procedure.

A dental implant is an advanced dental procedure that involves the manipulation of teeth, gums and bones that requires more than one visit to your dental office. Dental implants require a surgical procedure that fuses bone to a dental prosthesis.

Dental implants have a 98% success rate and the prosthetics can last up to 15 years or more. To achieve this success, precise assessments and careful planning are required. At Greater Endodontics, we are just as concerned for your oral health as you are - thats why we only work with specialists and oral surgeons when completing dental implants.

Your implant should heal within a couple of weeks. Dental implants, when properly cared for, can last up to 15 years. Your dental implant specialist will provide you with any additional aftercare instructions. Should you experience any difficulty breathing after your procedure, please call emergency medical services (911).

  • Brushing - After receiving your dental implant, you can gently brush the tooth/teeth where the treatment was performed. You should refrain from brushing the gums and should use the soft toothbrush that will be provided for you after your procedure. After a week has passed, you can return to your regular brushing habits, but be mindful that you may brush as normal after a week, but still, be gentle in the surgical site for an additional week.
  • During your dental implant procedure, you will be numbed and under sedation. After your procedure, pain is to be expected. Pain and inflammation will peak around day 3 or day 4. After that point, the area should start to improve. The area will be tender to the touch for approximately 1-2 weeks.

  • It is recommended that you take Ibuprofen to aid in the healing of the bone and reduce swelling. Consult your dental implant specialist and primary care physician on what dosage is right for you if any.
  • Unlike other dental offices that allow general dentists to perform complex procedures, at Greater Endodontics you can rest knowing your dental health is in the hands of a qualified professional. With experience and expertise, we are able to bring you the healthy, beautiful smile that you deserve. For the most qualified dental implant specialist in Utah, contact Greater Endodontics today!

At Greater Endodontics, our team provides the best Utah root canal treatments, dental implant treatments and diagnosis available. Nobody likes having a root canal, but if you need one - this is the place to go. I've unfortunately needed several procedures over the years and I've always gone to Dr. Facer. He and the staff are fantastic! Today, due to a small emergency they got me right in and I saw Dr Brockbank - and to no surprise he was also amazing!

Honestly, just for fun I would go and get a root canal from Dr. Matt LeCheminant. I was very nervous going into this procedure, and left with a huge half smile on my face (you know, because the other half was real numb). I was able to watch a a movie on the ceiling, and I truly remember more about the film than I do about any portion of the root canal. I felt very much at ease throughout the whole process. I appreciate the x-rays that were taken before, during, and after, and I greatly appreciate Kimberly who helped out the whole time. Overall, 10/10, would do again I wish they were my daily dentist!

I have to say, I thought root canals were supposed to be painful. Mine was not at all, it was as delicate as a routine cleaning and just as quick - I timed it. Dr Brockbank started to numb me (painless) and had me out of the office within the hour (and it was my back molar, too). He was attentive, professional and efficient and made the experience as pleasant as possible. I can't thank him enough, or his perfect assistant Alma, who was just as professional and an artist at her job. I would 10/10 recommend this office to anyone who wants great care and good company while you get it. Thanks Greater Endodontics, Alma and Dr Brockbank!

This is a great place to go if you don't have easily solvable dental issues. The first visit was good, however, be warned, if problems & you ask questions, beware of the dark side of Dr. Brockbank. Thought maybe he had a bad day the first time, but after 4 visits dealing with a single issue had bad experience each time.

Fifteen months ago I had a root canal at a different endodontist in Salt Lake. Ever since that time, my teeth had been in pain. For the past twelve months I have visited with the team at Greater Endodontics four seperate times, specifically with Dr. Matt LeCheminant. Even though the problem was not readily apparent and the clinical exam was vague, he kept working with me to determine why my teeth kept hurting. He listened to me, even though I must have sounded crazy, and agreed to perform a repeat root canal with their GentleWave technology. As far as root canals go, the process was much better than I expected. This morning I had the pleasure of truly enjoying a hot cup of coffee without any tooth pain. Thank you Dr. LeCheminant and the entire team at Greater Endodontics.

This location deserves no stars. I came here for a root canal, after my insurance paid $1000 I still owe nearly $600 and no that did not include the crown. I was sent back to my actual dentist for a crown, an additional $980. I don't know why this place cost so much after insurance. I will never be going here I didn't find another dentist and got a quote for a root canal and total for everything after insurance would have been $632 after my insurance. This place cast twice as much for half the work... for what?

I had a very easy going time during my procedure. I really enjoyed the TV mounted to ceiling! It made the visit go much faster and I wasn't concerned with what they were doing. Great place!

I was referred to Dr. Facer after sustaining a fractured tooth in a biking accident. The staff was friendly, supportive, and great at communicating everything that was going on. Dr. Facer completed a phenomenal root canal on my tooth, all while dealing with the complicated factor of me having a broken jaw/limited opening of the mouth. The staff really went above and beyond for me and it made a huge difference. I can't recommend this office enough!

I'm so glad I went here. I can't say I enjoyed it or that it was comfortable but I had a tooth with really deep roots and I kept burning through the anesthesia. I think I counted 8 shots before I was done. However, I believe anyone else would have made this uncomfortable experience incredibly painful. Fortunately, the staff here knows what they're doing.

Dr. Brockbank and his assistant could not have been more caring during my emergency root canal, making certain that I felt no pain during the procedure. I was highly impressed with Dr. Brockbank's professionalism and skills as a dental surgeon. I very much appreciate their office working with my dentist to find an appointment for me almost immediately. Their Midvale location is absolutely beautiful, pristine, and the latest surgical technology, tools, and lighting were used by Dr. Brockbank during my procedure. Amazingly, I feel great a day later with no pain, bruising, or after effects.
