The way I see the practice of dentistry is the wonderful opportunity it is to support the health of the community. As I work to make others stronger, I am made stronger in the process. Partnering with my skilled and friendly team, we see lives transformed by bringing healthy, attractive smiles to our patients.

After completing my dental training at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1977, I was invited to teach in the pre-clinical and clinical settings. It was only a year and a half into teaching that I was invited to enter the prosthodontics residency at the V.A. where I completed the 2 years post-doctoral program in 1981. I returned to teaching for 20 years and built a private practice in Dentistry. I love to learn, teach and care for others.

Staying informed of new information is very important for providing my patients with the greatest level of care. To keep on the cutting edge of restorative dentistry, I attend continuing education courses annually. Staying involved with the greater dental community is also a great asset, and I am currently a member of the American Dental Association, the American College of Prosthodontics, the Tennessee Dental Association, the Memphis Dental Society, and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation.

I was born in eastern Tennessee and raised in a medical family. I am one of seven children, and six of us are involved in some aspect of the field of medicine. I currently reside in Memphis with my wife, Rene. We have three grown children, Brandon, Anna, and Stuart, a daughter-in-law, Ashley, a son-in-law, Larry, and a daughter-in-law, Nina. When I'm not in the office I enjoy grilling and gardening.

My name is Angela Olita. I am a Christian and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, TN. My husband and I reside in Collierville, TN with our two children, Beau and Naomi. I graduated from UTHSC with a Bachelors of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 2010. I became a Dental Hygienist because I find so much joy in helping people discover confidence in themselves through their smile. It is a blessing to serve others. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to serve you.

Jamie was raised in Atoka, TN. She has been a part of Great Southern Smiles since May of 2019. She is very passionate about helping others and strives to do her best daily. She graduated from Concorde Career College in 2016 as a Registered Dental Assistant. She is married with 3 wonderful children. In her spare time, she enjoys her childrens sports and going to the Tennessee River.

I tend to answer to several different names, some are fun and cute for my more playful side, and some not so energetic or unique. But all have some pretty cool memories attached to them. Loving life could be my lifes motto, because I love how life has endless opportunities on who you can be; in one lifetime, it is just impossible to experience everything, so I enjoy meeting people of all walks of life.

Hi, Im Mary Marx. Ive been a Dental Assistant for over 30 years. The dental field is constantly changing and Ive been blessed to be a part of it. Ive met many wonderful people from patients, to dentists, and my co-workers who have all been a big part of my life.

At the beginning of my career, I took some time off to take care of my family. I have a wonderful husband of almost 40 years and 3 beautiful children, two songs and one daughter and 7 awesome grandchildren. God has truly blessed our family and we praise Him every day.

I began my career in the medical field as a Certified Medical Assistant for a Gynecologist. Then after 8 years, I switched over to Dentistry where I have worked as a Business Assistant and now also as the Hygiene Schedule Coordinator. In 2018, I made Great Southern Smiles my home.

Born and raised in Memphis, TN but for the past 25 years, I have lived in Mississippi. I enjoy reading and visiting Colorado but my favorite thing is spending time at home with my husband, Paul, and our Chocolate Labrador, Milo.

Ive been a Dental Assistant for three years. My career goal is to become a dentist. I am very passionate about dentistry and serving people. Im also a husband, father, and Sunday school teacher. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, watch/play sports, practice playing my guitar, and socialize.

Sonya wears a few hats at Great Southern Smiles. She helps maintain our technology, equipment and computer needs. When she is not welcoming patients into the practice, Sonya loves to travel to the beach and the lake, entertain family and friends, home dcor and enjoys many different music genres.

i was so impressed with dr. smith as he was sympathetic to a serious dental tragedy... explained everything in a wonderful and kind manner .. what could and couldn't be done... this was my first appointment.. looking forward to hopefully ( insurance) to work with him and his welcoming staff .. who were considerate of myself esteem issues... i would give 10 * just for how much hope i felt as i walked out the door... which hasn't been apart of my journey to find a caring dentist... the dental assistant was sweet and helpful.. worked around my wheelchair... she was encouraging and supportive.... THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY FIRST STATEMENT.... I WOULDN'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! thanks personally dr. smith .. for simply caring when no other dentist did... thanks again god's blessings

Great Southern Smiles represent a meticulous Denistry team., including the administrative department. They provide quality care with state of art equipment in the most safe setting. I would not dream of getting any dental services anywhere else. Dr. Smith and team is orchestrated to Not just treat you as a patient but like family! If you are seeking quality and thorough care plan for your individual need at a very reasonable price from a trustworthy team; you will definitely find it at this Germantown site! Thank you!

5 Star when it comes to service and people, but this was the second time that I was told one price before paying and another price when I went to pay. I am blessed that I can afford the difference, but to happen once is an isolated incident but twice is a bit of a concern. Neither was malicious, just communication and not knowing all the facts...but for someone else an increase of $90 to $500 could be a life changer...especially for an optional treatment.

On 10/11/2022 I went to Great Southern Smile for a standard cleaning. I had perfect teeth and no complaints going In. The hygienist or assistant then proceeded to take X-rays and a exam. I wasn't told of anything major with my teeth only praise. She then started cleaning my teeth with three instruments. After the cleaning she told me I had a fracture to my front big tooth in the middle going across. I was distraught and still am. The clinic manager then tell me I came in for gum disease treatment and not a cleaning. If a mishap happens they will not take responsibility. I guess this is the way of the world!!

I was very pleased with the professionalism and courtesy of Dr.Smith and the staff at Great Southern Smiles.Dr. Smith was very thorough and detailed in his assessment and recommendations. Dr. Smith made some very helpful adjustments. I have been able to chew far more efficiently! After a few adjustments Dr. Smith made a crucial recommendation that I needed new dentures. We decided to have him make me new dentures and I have had much greater success and enjoyment eating, every since. I can now bite and chew just about any kind and type of foods and my issues with digestion are basically ended. ****I WANT TO REITERATE MY PREVIOUS REVIEW! Dr. Smith has continued to provide very needed professional services and adjustments whenever required. Including remaking my dentures, due to some Laboratory inadequacies!
