E. Joanne Brown, DDS, PA Dr. Brown is originally from a rural town outside of Little Rock, Arkansas. She pursued her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a Specialty in Athletic Training from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She graduated dental school from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with honors in Pathology in May of 2000. She is a member in good standing with the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, Central District Society; which she is a past representative, the Association of Women Dentists; which she is a past representative, and the dental fraternity, Xi Phi Psi.
While waiting for her practice to be built, Dr. Brown worked in Garden City for almost a year; operating Dr. Parson's practice; after his sudden passing, until it could be sold. Dr. Brown and her husband, Craig Sandlin, started Great Plains Family Dentistry August 9, 2001. They have been residents of Wichita County for over 10 years. Dr. Brown loves reading, spending time with her husband, kitties, family and friends, running, traveling, and shallow water scuba diving in her free time.
Craig Sandlin, Office Manager Craig is originally from Fayetteville, Arkansas. He pursued his degree in Management/Marketing at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Craig is the Co-owner of Great Plains Family Dentistry and works as the Office Manager. He handles all of our insurance and loves to help our patients understand and maximize their dental benefits. He is married to Dr. Joanne Brown and has five wonderful cats, Dickson, Loomis, Moses, Larry, and Samantha. He is an avid fisherman, frequent hunter, loves to scuba dive, and is a serious Razorback Fan.
Shayla Sharkey, RDH Shayla is a local from Tribune, Kansas; where she graduated from Greeley County High School. She received her licensure for Dental Anesthesia from Colby Community College in 2012, and her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from North Central Technical College at Wausau, Wisconsin in 2012. Shayla is the newest member of our team, joining us in June of 2011. Shayla has added a little 'country' to our office. She is fun-loving and sassy. She will greet you with a warm smile and keep you entertained with her funny farm life stories. Shayla is married with an amazing son and adorable dog, Sis. She enjoys horseback riding, hunting, and fishing.
Yadira De La Cruz, RDA, Treatment Coordinator Yadira is originally from Los Angeles, California and has been with our office since the day it opened on August 9, 2001. She received her Registered Dental Assistant degree from the National Education Center in Orange County, California. She received more training, once leaving school, at a large dental complex where she assisted in all aspects of the dental field. Yadira now works as a Dental Assistant and our Treatment Coordinator; where she works with our patients to help them understand their treatment plans and maximize their rental dollars. She is married and has three beautiful daughters. She likes to spend her free time with her family and friends, and enjoys remodeling homes, traveling and scuba diving.

A visit to Great Plains Family Dentist is never a hassle. The folks are pleasant , knowledgeable and personable. Dr Brown tells you , straight, what is needed to maintain great and healthy teeth.

We absolutely love Great Plains Family Dentistry!!! They are amazing and such sweet people. My girls bragged about how friendly they were with them and how they interacted with them. They left with smiles on their faces saying they couldn't wait to go back! Now that's a compliment if there ever was one coming from a kiddo!

These people are awesome they helped me with getting a tooth out that was hurting me. After calling several dentist for help and told no help without money Mr Brown called me and said we want to help you. Their also going to pull another one they were really busy and still got me in. For that I want to say THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

My family and I have been going to Gpfd since they opened. Caring and competent are what comes to mind. From regular teeth cleaning to complicated procedures Dr Brown and staff can be trusted to do an excellent job.

They made sure I was completely numb, and then some, when I got my teeth pulled. They were really nice and shared tips on how to properly take care of your mouth when teeth are pulled. 10/10, no pain during procedure, lots of thanks!
