A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges. Endodontic patients should expect a comprehensive examination to diagnose orofacial pain and pulpal injury and determine if the tooth is a good candidate for endodontic therapy.

At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.

The cost associated with this procedure can vary depending on factors such as the severity of damage to the affected tooth and which tooth is affected. In general, endodontic treatment is much less expensive than tooth removal and replacement with an artificial tooth.

I had high anxiety and excruciating pain when I was referred to Great Lakes Endodontics. Dr. Phillips gave me a not-so-positive prognosis, but the procedure went better than I had expected. He prepared me for the worst but we got the best. I won't hesitate to have future treatment here, if needed. His care and his team are professional, gentle and compassionate.

8/16/22 Updated Dr Phillips called me and sent me a letter regarding the complaint I left on this review. We talked and Dr. Phillips was so patient, gracious and understanding. He said his office would call me to set up an appointment for me if that would work. I said yes that would be wonderful. I had my appointment today and it was a great experience! From the moment I walked in the door everyone was so helpful and kind. Dr. Phillips was so thorough and helped me so much. Thank you Dr Phillips and your team!!! I called to make an appointment and Tiffany stated I needed a referral. I called again after getting ahold of my dentist office for a referral Stephanie stated she cannot make an appointment without knowing the number of the tooth Dr Phillip would need to look at. I stating that the referral will be forthcoming as I don't remember what number the tooth is. She informed me no appointments can be made until they know that information and I was to call back. Do you think anyone just calls to make appointment when they are in pain? I said I don't think I'll be calling back. The customer service thing would have been for someone at Dr Phillips office to say they would call me once they receive the referral

Great Lakes Endodontics did a superb job treating a very painful and infected molar by performing a root canal The procedure took less than one hour and was painless. There is no need to be afraid of root canals when you are in the skilled hands of Dr. Phillips. The support staff were very nice and competent, getting me in less than 24 hours after my general dentist reached out to them. Modern equipment, fair price and fabulous care.--posted by Elizabeth Dahl

I had to have 2 root canals done and could not be more pleased with the outcome. The staff was informative and friendly and even got me in than my sooner than my scheduled time for both appointments which was very nice. Dr Phillips explained everything and as a new patient made me feel very comfortable. I would highly recommend his office for your dental work.

I was a little apprehensive about this root canal because my regular dentist suggested a specialist because of the twisty roots. I figured that meant it would be worse than previous root canals. However Dr. Philips and the staff made this an easy, pain free experience. They took time to walk me through everything and gave me lots of opportunities to ask questions. Dr Philips assured me I had no reason to be anxious, that he would be slow and gentle making it as pain free and easy as possible. He did just as he said. I would refer friends and family as well as return myself if I needed his services again.
