My insurance covers dental cleaning at 100%, but the assistant told me I had a $55 co-pay. After asking why, they said they had added on 'optional' services that I have never had and did not need, and my insurance did not cover. I was frustrated that they just add these optional services on without asking or explaining them to you, and simply reporting matter-of-factly that you will be paying a co-pay of $55. I also saw the charges billed to the insurance, totaling over $250 for a cleaning. At my previous dentist, a typical cleaning had always been around $85, always completely covered by my insurance. It did seem like they were just after making as big of a bill as possible. They did not take X-rays, as I was pregnant and declined them, but they took photos and said it looked like I have 3 cavities that need to be filled. I've only ever had 2 cavities over the course of my lifetime, so I am skeptical that I would have developed 3 more in the past 6 months. I'll be following up on these potential cavities and getting future cleaning from another dentist. The cleaning seemed typical and thorough, which is why I gave 2, instead of 1, stars. Edited update: I ended up following up with another dentist. They said I had one stain that could have potentially been mistaken as a pre-cavity, but he had no idea where the other 2 potential cavities could have come from. Scary to think they could have drilled into three teeth for no reason.

Wonderful Dentist, awesome professionals, would recommend Great Expressions of both Livonia & Ann Arbor to anyone who might be looking for a dentist or oral surgeon. Just had an implant completed, all did an amazing job! Update, 5-12-2022, moving out of State and will miss this Dental Office. Staff is great, service and skill level of dentists are spot on.. I looked over comments and realized most 1 star reviews reflect poor insurance or costs associated with services rendered. This is an unfair review. Know your co-pay options with regard to your insurance coverage anytime you walk into a dentist office. Thank you Great Expressions for 7 years of wonderful service and my wonderful smile.
