As a 1st time older mom I went here for a tongue tie issues that our pediatrician didn't seem to care about & I'm so glad we went! They provide a lot of information, they're super knowledgeable and caring. Efficient as you can ask and we sadly had to call bc she was screaming for almost two hours & nothing stopped her & the Dr himself even called back later to check again. That means a lot!

Such a great experience for my son every time he's gone. He's 4 and never feared the dentist because of how amazing they've always been each and every time. They seem to be there because they love what they do and the kids.

I had a baby a week ago and was never told about his lip/tongue tie until after I left the hospital and met with a lactation consultant. She referred me to Great Beginnings for the laser procedure to help this condition. The staff was phenomenal! The front staff was super friendly and addressed me as soon as I walked in (pretty impressive for being on a Monday! And bonus, it was Halloween and everyone was dressed up as 101 Dalmations characters!) And the lady who called us back and explained the procedure was so nice and informative! You could really tell they care about the kiddos and helping families, especially with situations hindering breastfeeding. Dr. Stephanie was amazing and definitely agreed the procedure would be super beneficial and got us in same day! The whole procedure was over in about 15 minutes and my little guy wasn't even fussy when they brought him back to me. I was super pleased. Fast forward to the next day, he is doing fantastic - already noticed a major improvement in latch and he isn't leaking milk all over himself (and me!) because his tongue is finally free and able to move where it needs too! Aftercare was made crystal clear and I haven't had any issues since we have been home. I highly recommend this clinic for all pediatric needs and will continue to take Rowan to them as he gets older for any dental needs he may have. Thanks Great Beginnings, for making my breastfeeding journey so much more enjoyable!

My daughter has special needs and is nonverbal. Dr. Chambers has taken great care of her for over 18 years! He made recommendations to optimize her dental outcomes that others never did. (I won't say that I went with everything he recommended and that I regret. I can say that he was right and I was wrong! LOL) Lynn, I can't say enough about her patience and willingness to work with OUR girl! I could not ask for anyone better!

The best place to bring your kids!!! On this visit, my 6 year old had a meltdown because only big sis had an appointment. So the hygienist brought my 6-year-old tableside so she could watch her sister's teeth getting cleaned. Everyone is sooo patient and kind. They really do care about your child's overall experience at the dentist. My kids have grown up in this practice and have absolutely no fear of the dentist or anything that happens at the dental office. Dr. Doug Pratt's manor is amazing. All the hygienists are super sweet, gentle and kind.

We drive an hour to get to Great Beginnings because their staff is the best! They have helped my sweet girl so much, as she struggles with anxiety. After many baby steps, she now goes back with a smile and comes back with an even prettier one.

My daughter was pretty nervous about her exam after not having seen the dentist in over a year and also having some newer sensory processing difficulties. However the hygienist Stacy was extremely patient and understanding of this and made this nerve wracking experience as smooth as possible! And of course Dr. Doug is always great - whether he's dressed as the ToothFairy or not! Thanks everyone for your understanding!

I had a lot of respect for this practice until today. I work full time and have three children. I took a half day off and left work at 11. Each of my children are at different schools, and I picked them up individually. As I was driving into asheville at 12:25 I called to tell them that I was on my way and would be 10 minutes late. The receptionist told me that I would need to reschedule for all three of my children. I was shocked. I called again at 1230, which was the actual appointment time for all three of my children to say I was closer than I thought. Again, I was told to reschedule. The receptionist continued to say " I understand where you're coming from" Obviously not. I will take my 3 kids and their dental insurance elsewhere

Our first visit was absolutely wonderful. The second, not so much. I took my two year old here for an emergency visit after she fell and knocked a front tooth loose. I was super nervous about the visit as this was her first time, and normally her pediatric appointments don't go over very well. (Think lots of crying) But this experience was nothing short of perfect. The front staff were so friendly and helpful, and we're able to get her in that same day to be seen. The hygienist who saw my daughter was absolutely wonderful. She got down on her level and engaged her in conversation. She carefully showed my daughter each tool she would need to use and explained what it was for and waited until my daughter felt comfortable before examining her mouth. She took her time and really did a phenomenal job making sure my daughter felt safe. Any time my daughter started to tense up, she backed off and waited until she was ok before attempting anything else. Dr. Doug was absolutely great as well! He was very calm, and gentle, and my daughter was comfortable enough to let him look over her mouth as well. We got through the appointment with no tears at all! There were lots of little prizes that they let her pick out and the appointment ended with a balloon The first appointment went so well, that I wasn't prepared at all for what happened the second. We had a different hygienist this time. She was younger so perhaps newer? But she seemed rushed. She didn't make nearly as much of an effort to converse with my daughter. And immediately wanted her up on the table to examine her. It took a bit of coaxing and a little time to get my daughter up there the first time, and this time she was just as hesitant. Instead of backing off and reassuring her when she started to act scared, this hygienist seemed to get annoyed. She didn't give my daughter time to feel comfortable and asked me to "just put her up there". While her mouth was being examined, my daughter started to get nervous and turn away, and the hygienist forcibly held her head against the table so she couldn't turn. At that point my daughter started to panic. She clenched her teeth shut and started crying and screaming. The hygienist got visibly frustrated and tried to pry her mouth open while telling my daughter, "no, you need to open your mouth. Stop, I need to look at your teeth" etc. She told me to hold my daughter's arms and to hold her down on the table so she could count her teeth. Ultimately my daughter just didn't cooperate and that was the end of that. The hygienist stopped trying to finish her examination and told me that "this is why it's usually better for the parents to stay in the waiting room". And I understand that sometimes it is better that way, I really do. But this was not the issue in this case. If the hygienist had given my daughter a little more time and had put a little more effort into ensuring she was comfortable, I know she would have been ok. My daughter calmed down and let Dr. Doug look at her and finish the exam. He took his time and waited until she was ready to open her mouth for him, and she was happy to cooperate. While checking out, the hygienist was short and unapologetic. Our very first experience was so wonderful that I was prepared to make the two hour each way trip to take all three of my kids here. But I hesitate to do that now after the awful experience the second time. Overall I think this is a really great place if you're lucky enough to get a hygienist that is caring and happy to work with your kids. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Doug! If I was sure we'd see the same the lady who helped us the first time I'd go back in a heartbeat. I'm just so disappointed with how things went the second time that I'm not sure it's worth it to take the gamble of not knowing how the hygienist is going to treat my kids.
