Dr. Leia Porcaro, D.M.D. Leia Porcaro, D.M.D. is a Brazilian-born dentist who graduated from the University of Alfenas with a degree in Dentistry. While in Brazil, she specialized in cosmetic dentistry and received advanced degree in Orthodontics.
Immediately upon graduation, Dr. Porcaro opened a private dental practice where she practiced for over 8 years. This included 7 years of orthodontics.In addition to owning her dental practice she also worked for the Government of Brazil providing preventative dental care and treatment for the underprivileged. In 2003, Dr. Porcaro moved to Lorena Sao Paulo because she was hired as the Director of a clinic that provided free dental care to low-income citizens overseeing thirty-five dentists while still owning and operating a private dental practice. Through these experiences, Dr. Porcaro developed great compassion, exceptional skills and a passion for excellence in dentistry.
In 2004, after practicing dentistry in Brazil for over eight years, Dr. Porcaro moved to the United States to pursue a career in dentistry. She was one of 25 international applicants out of 850 chosen to attend the prestigious Nova Southeastern University college of dental medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Porcaro graduated at the top of her class from the three-year dental program at Nova University Southeastern and received all the proper licensing and accreditation necessary to practice dentistry in the United States.

Your wisdom teeth are your third set of molars and the last teeth to erupt into your mouth. In many cases, there is not sufficient room in the mouth for these teeth to fully erupt and become useful. In this case, they become impacted. Let me just say, I ALWAYS have a great visit at this office, but this last visit was really great. I had a deep clean done by Nikki & SHE MADE EVERYTHING PLEASANT in a different way. I can tell she loves what she does because she educated me on exactly what I needed to know about my personal dental health, allowing me to understand exactly what is needed, & where I stand. If I could I'd request for her EVERY VISIT. Not only that SHE HAS A SINCE OF HUMOR, which made my visit more comfortable. The office is overall the best i have ever visited thus far. Thank guys. I decided to give Grateful dental a try because it's across the street from my home and so far I'm loving my decision. I had the pleasure of having my cleaning done by the wonderful Lisa and she was absolutely amazing. She laughed and joked with me, made me feel extremely comfortable and most importantly, did amazing on my teeth. After my cleaning I met with Sheppard Cox to discuss my treatment plan and he also made me feel very comfortable and was extremely knowledgeable. Overall I'm loving Grateful dental and can't wait to go back.

I have bad dental anxiety. Last time I went to the dentist was over 15 years ago. I found a general dentistry who referred me to a root canal practice. I will not name this location, but it was a terrible, traumatic experience. It reassured me that my fear in dentists was accurate. However, I still needed to get a crown. I searched around for places that offered options for patients with dental anxiety, and came across Grateful Dental. I grew up on 60's and 70's music so I already liked the name. I set up an appointment with Maggie at the front desk. She was very informative and professional, but still casual enough to make me feel comfortable. I cannot remember my other two ladies names, there was a blonde dental technician/ceramist who shaped my crown, she was extremely friendly and comforting. Then there was the doctor, and after looking at their website, her name is Dr. Leia Porcaro. I have very sensitive gums, and the shots I received from the root canal place hurt for 5 days after. Dr. Porcaro is so good at what she does, I literally had no idea she had given me my shots! She gave me a cheek/gum massage, chit chatted for a few minutes, then all of a sudden my face went numb. The anxiety pill they prescribed me kicked in, and I was extremely relaxed. They got to work, zero pain whatsoever. Zero discomfort. Less than an hour later, they're done. I have a deep-seated dislike for dentists that stems from when I was a kid, which has caused me to need two root canals and a few fillings. I am actually happy to come back to this practice. They were professional, comforting people, and they made me feel safe and cared. If you have dental anxiety of any kind, please give this place a chance! I'm so excited to get my teeth back in good shape! Thank you :)

From the time I walked in to Grateful Dental I could tell that it was the Nicest, kindest most professional Dental Office I would ever encounterd.The Staff at Reception Desk we're very Kind and Courteous. Then I was really impressed by the Dentist who went the extra mile and reassured me that the procedure would go well and be less painful because I had a fear of the Dentist. To my amazement it was above and beyond expectations. This was my second time other wise It would have been crying time. It was little to no pain and I was a chicken. I am no longer afraid and will visit the Dentist on a regular basis. That was why I stayed away so long because of pain and the fear of cruel cold Dentist and Staff. I broke my front tooth on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning I called Grateful Dental and I had an appointment at noon the same day! The staff were all very friendly, and assured me that they would take care of me. I was presented with several options, and care plans, and together we came up with the best course of action. The doctor and Carissa (her assistant) were both wonderful and empathetic, and created a very stress free and relaxing environment. I would whole heartedly recommend this practice and this team of professional caregivers for your routine dentistry needs or in a dental emergency.

Its really unfortunate that this office has received a low rating from me. This office seems to be hit or miss. The cleaning was awesome and painless, but the crown prep was painful and horrible. 13 July is when I was prepped for the crown,... til this day, 10 August, I still can't open my mouth 100%, or chew on that side of my jaw. Im still in pain. I thank you for allowing me to retrieve my crown without any issues, and its really sad I will not be returning. I thought I found a Dentist home. But pain and agony will always keep me away. This is a great office, it really is, just choose the right day to go. And even though the work wasn't completed 100%, I still paid 100% of the bill. Just so, there's no hard feelings.
