The term oral surgery can include a range of treatments designed to enhance the function, appearance and in particular the health of your mouth and teeth and the surrounding and supporting structures. While a conservative approach to treatment is always the preferred option, oral surgery may in fact be the best choice for improving your smile. We offer an extensive range of treatments to address a variety of issues and our oral surgeons will be happy to talk with you about which treatment or combination of treatments may be right for you. We also work with referring dentists and physicians to help you achieve the results you want.

If you have questions about oral and maxillofacial surgery, please contact one of our conveniently located offices . We also invite you to follow this link to visit American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

I can not recommend this place enough. After having my jaw messed up by another dentist up north I was very very nervous to have another oral surgery. First off kyle made sure i was comfortable and feeling good the whole time, she even went and got me a juice and refused to leave until i was feeling better. Everything was explained to me before it was done, nothing felt rushed, and i felt like all the concerns i voiced to them were actually listened to. I wish i remembered the doctors name (sedation effects) but he was equally kind and i have zero after pain and it even seems like he fixed my jaw to a degree. After so many negative dental experiences these people were a god send. And I will be driving the 3 hours from home every time i need dental work just to see them, well worth the trip and thanks again to nurse kyle and the entire staff at G.T.O.S.

We were very happy that they got my husband in as soon as they could! He had an infected tooth and facial cellulitis! We were very pleased with the Dentist and his assistant!! Although I do have one complaint. Our insurance wasn't accepted but they are billing them anyway. I told them no worries I had cash to pay for the dental work which included 8 upper teeth extracted. I was very offended and disappointed in the billing process because the lady came right in the room with us, my husband was still not aware of a lot and said " I am here for the payment". Never in my lifetime had this happen before! It made me feel that they didn't think we had the money to pay and that incident was very unprofessional!!!!!

I had SUCH a great flippin experience here!!!!! Everyone was SOO nice and patient, even when anxiety got the better of me and I couldn't focus and was shaking violently. Christina, the nurse helping Dr. Fountain, was soooooooo patient with me, and the other nurse (I never got her name ...) even held my hand while they put the I.V. in my arm!!!!! My legs stopped shaking IMMEDIATELY and I felt soooooo much calmer. And when I woke up, Christina helped me walk out when I was still kinda weak and tired. I am forever indebted to y'all beautiful people, and I nursery hope NO ONE takes advantage of your kindness, EVER. Thank you sooooooooooo much!!!!!

Similar to other reviewers, I was referred here and had a terrible experience. I kept waking up during my procedure and the staff's attitude only added to my anxiety and fear.

I want to thank the staff and surgeon that got me in for oral surgery within 6 hours of my dentist contacting them about my broken wisdom tooth. Unfortunately they don't take my insurance but they did get me in immediately and Dr. Madion even discounted my surgery for me. I was put under cery quickly and woke up in no pain whatsoever. And it healed very fast. Everyone was super friendly and cared about my dental emergency. 5 stars all the way. Thank you staff and Dr. Madion!

My daughter was super anxious about her extractions but Dr. Dee and Suzie put her right at ease! Overall genuine and caring staff! Would definitely recommend, especially for nervous patients. It was well worth the long drive for us.

Not your mama's oral surgeon! Wonderful team at GTOS in Alpena. Dr. Fountain and staff were devoted to my care and offer a clean, comfortable atmosphere.

I called 2 different places and both couldn't get me in for 2-3 months despite me describing my emergency situation. I then called grand traverse oral surgery and they squeezed me in the next day. Customer service was great all around. I only remember the name of Tammy, who took care of scheduling my appointment and was super nice and caring. Woke up once during surgery and Dr. Madion (I believe is whats written on my papers) told me "sorry buddy" and I was out less than half a second later. The whole procedure lasted about 30 minutes. Well worth the 2 hour drive.. Will definitely return if I ever need oral surgery done again and will recommend this place to anyone I know that needs work done. Thank you everybody at Grand Traverse Oral Surgery!

In January My son had a tooth that his regular dentist had tried to pull twice. Unfortunately he had gotten an infection so the numbing medicine didn't work. He wouldn't hold still and it was not good. Our normal dentist Dr Free was able to get us an emergency appointment with Dr Fountain. He has a very calming nature and voice especially when it came to my 6 year old. He explained everything to me and my son. He was very calm even when my son was not. Hours after my sons tooth extraction Dr Fountain called to check up on my son. Not many Doctors/Dentist call themselves it's always the office staff. But Dr Fountain himself call to check in. That tells me he truly cares about all of his patients.

Customer service is terrible. Referred to this location, not my first choice. Arrived one hour early for surgery and they couldn't get my child seen before our appointment. Finally seen 10 min after our assigned time. Receptionist requested my license and medical ID, then told us we need to wait till the end to present it. Service felt like something you would expect at a free walk-in clinic, only I paid my bill in full, and now must wait for them to file our out-of-network claim for reimbursement. Highway robbery!

This place is amazing! If you have a negative review about GTOS, then I highly doubt it's a problem to do with the business or the employees there. I went there when I was pregnant to have an emergency wisdom tooth extraction and was basically eating normally that day with no problem. In and out in not even a half hour. Today I had another wisdom tooth removed, this time on the bottom AND the molar next to it. 2 teeth. The appointment was made yesterday. I was able to get in next day. Fast, PAINLESS, I was in and out in an hour. And that's with getting x-rays done and going over them, getting hooked up to an IV, which I have slight PTSD when it comes to IVs. I can't say enough good things about this Oral Surgeon! They are amazing. And no, I am not in personal relation to anybody that works here, this is an honest review and I am one happy customer!

My husband hard an exposed nerve for 5 days, in alot of pain. They were able to get him in the same day. He doesn't like dentist appointments but they were so good with him. While the regular dentist could not numb him to get his tooth pulled. Grand Traverse Oral Surgery were able to put him out and while they were in there they were able to take a total of 3 bad teeth out and it only took them 1/2 hour from start to finish. His experience was informative and very comforting. If he needs a tooth pulled in the future, he will definitely go here. It was worth the 1 1/2 drive Highly recommend this Oral Surgeon.

I called Dr. Fountain in a panic after having a horrible infection. Not only was he extremely accommodating by getting me in right away, he was also very informative on what to expect afterwards and explained all my options. The extraction went extremely well and I was in and out within 45 minutes. I highly recommend Dr. Fountain and his amazing team!

I was referred to Grand Traverse Oral Surgery to have 2 wisdom teeth removed. It was as good of an experience you can have while having oral surgery. The staff were exceptional polite, I never felt uncomfortable or uncared for at any time. All of my questions were answered politely, and I left with minimal pain.
