At Grand Rapids Dental Care, we dont want our patients to ever regret not taking good enough care of their smile, which is why we focus on patient education. At each checkup and cleaning, we make sure to speak with our patients about the problems they may face and how to prevent them from cropping back up in the future. By doing this, were able to preserve our patients smiles and save them from needing invasive, serious dental treatments that tend to be more costly.
Contrary to most kids, Dr. Spencer really liked visiting the dentists office while growing up. After shadowing some dentists later in life as he explored his career options, he began to realize how many boxes oral healthcare checked for him. Hes a very mechanical person who likes being able to build and fix things, and he also has an innate passion for helping people. The idea of owning his own small business was really appealing as well and today, hes able to do all of those things in one job!
After completing both his Bachelors in Business Management at Saint Johns University and his Bachelors in Biology at Saint Cloud State University, Dr. Spencer pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He joined the Academy of General Dentistry during this time as a student member. Following graduation, he pursued extensive continuing education during his Active-Duty Air Force service as well (almost 500 hours worth) and even underwent a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, NE.
Today, Dr. Spencer still attends advanced training from several organizations regularly, including a local Spear study club, the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, and the Academy of General Dentistry, to name a few. He is passionate about continually expanding his skillset and being able to offer as many procedures and services at Grand Rapid Dental Care as possible! In addition to the AGD, he is also currently a member of the Minnesota Dental Association and SPEAR Education.
Giving back and passing on knowledge is also a critical part of continued professional growth to Dr. Spencer, which is why he works as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry at their outreach site at Hibbing Community College. He and Dr. Rachel have also joined a program with the HCC dental assisting school and currently have a student intern working at the office so they can gain some experience in a private practice setting!
Dr. Spencer met Dr. Rachel in dental school, and they graduated in the same class. Today, they have two young children named Ellie and Lyle. In his spare time, he really loves being outdoors, doing activities like downhill skiing, camping, waterskiing, boating, waterfowl hunting, and having fun with various shooting sports. Hes a real DIY-er and is always up for a project where he can work with his hands. In the future, he hopes to get more into restoration projects with old cars and motorcycles!

On Friday night I started to experience horrible tooth pain. Trying to find a dentist that would help me over the weekend would have been impossible if not for Grand Rapids Dental Care. No one else that I called would respond. They helped me get through the weekend, checking on important issues like what meds I was currently on so they could provide safe advice. Then saw me on Monday morning. Life savers in my book!

My husband and I are very pleased with Grand Rapids Dental. The office staff are welcoming and we like the text message reminders . The husband and wife team dentists are kind and thoughtful and do a thorough job explaining procedures. The dental assistance are super friendly as are the hygienists. The environment is very clean . We would highly recommend Grand Dental.

I was a 25 year patient of Dean Singsank until he sold his practice to Dr. Hagley. I was a reluctant transfer patient. Dr. Hagley and his staff have won me over wholeheartedly. The office is state of the art, the whole staff has knowledge about the latest procedures and they are very caring. I recently had to have a root canal, Dr. Hagley called me after hours to see if I was doing okay. I am so happy with Grand Rapids Dental that I now drive from Park Rapids. VERY HAPPY!!!

I actually look forward to my dental appointments! I know I will get the best dental care possible by competent professionals who are also very friendly. Grand Rapids Dental Care is simply the best. Great experience again! When was the last time you said that after your dental appointment? On time, professional, competent, patient-focused, what more can I say? Called with an emergency toothache that needed to get taken care of .their website says emergency care called and was told to go look around cause they dont have time. I said tomorrow then and still no.....need to change your website from emergency care To appt only!!!!

Having recently moved to the area, had to find a new dentist. Dr. Rachael was great. Took the time to get to know me and in return she shared some of her life with me. Felt very welcome. Pricing is reasonable if one doesn't have insurance. Would highly recommend Grand Rapuds Dental.

This was my first time seeing Dr. Spencer Buchert. The visit was a very good experience. Dr. Buchert's knowledge, expertise, and confidence resulted in a quick and relaxed visit. He was quick to answer questions and offer helpful suggestions. I highly recommend visiting Grand Rapids Dental Care. The staff and dental providers are exceptional and consistently make my 2 hour drive worth it.

I called to schedule an appointment for myself and my daughter as new patients. I was told that they are accepting new patients but they are not accepting my insurance at this time which is IM Care. I guess if you have a nice job that provides you with good dental insurance then they will take you because they get paid more. would that be considered discrimination? I also told them I have uni - care dental plan which is basically like paying cash and was told that they don't accept that either. I have called every dentist in the grand Rapids area and have been told the exact same thing. What ever happened to caring about people and there health or is it all just about the money now? every place that has denied me and my daughter should be ashamed of themselves, I will make sure I review all of them with my displeasure of there lack of caring. I have a broken tooth if that matters to anyone.
