Dr. Ryan Gilreath Dr. Ryan Gilreath was born and raised in Greer, South Carolina. He attended undergraduate at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. In 2004, Dr. Gilreath was awarded the highest academic honor award, Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Gilreath graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina.Dr. Gilreath has been in Charleston since 2003 and resides in Goose Creek, South Carolina. He is a member of the Goose Creek Rotary Club, American Dental Association, and SC Dental Association.His interests include boating, softball, exercising, and spending time with family. Dr. Gilreath speaks fluent Spanish. He resides as a dentist in Goose Creek, servicing Goose Creek, Summerville, North Charleston, and surrounding areas.
Dr. Ponton joined Goose Creek Family Dentistry in July 2016. His undergraduate degree is from the College of Charleston, where he earned a BS in biology and graduated cum laude. His Doctor of Dental Medicine degree is from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Ponton has an Advanced Education in General Dentistry from East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. He resides in Charleston with his wife and son. He enjoys spending time with his family. Dr. Ponton is a dentist in Goose Creek, servicing Goose Creek, North Charleston, Summerville, and surrounding areas.
Dr. Burgess grew up on James Island, SC. She is an honor graduate of Ashley Hall School. She went on to obtain her undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston, graduating cum laude. Dr. Burgess graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2013 from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Al-Kakhan grew up around the Washington, D.C., area. He attended Virginia Tech where he earned his bachelors degree in biological sciences and went on to earn a masters degree in biomedicine. Dr. Al-Kakhan earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University. He then completed a one-year general practice residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham University Hospital. Dr. Al-Kakhan enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He enjoys working out, playing tennis, soccer and basketball, and he is an avid Manchester United and Virginia Tech fan!
Dr. Braxton is from Greenville, North Carolina, where she attended East Carolina University. She received a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry, and she was president of the East Carolina University Pre-Dental Honor society, graduating magna cum laude. She then moved to Chapel Hill, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry. Dr. Braxton continued her dental studies at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program. Here she became proficient in multidisciplinary treatment planning, implant restorations, removable prostheses, CAD/CAM dentistry and treating patients with special health care needs. Dr. Braxton and her husband, Dewey, live on Sullivans Island, where they enjoy island life with their Yellow Lab, Sampson.

I love going here the staff is always so nice and careful to explain and answer any questions asked of the patients. During the treatments whether its a cleaning or a filling they Providers make sure that the patients are comfortable. I was cold and was giving a blanket which no other dentist I been to had ever done for me. Definitely Highly Recommend!

Staff is personable, courteous and knowledgeable. My hygienist suggested a mouth guard to prevent further gum recession because I clench my otherwise healthy 32 teeth. The dentist agreed with her. Unfortunately, it was the first time (I am a decades-long patient) anyone ever suggested a guard for my condition!! If someone had, I'm sure I wouldn't have as much recession. I am disappointed with not being given any other option than grafts. This is the only reason I'm giving Goose Creek family dentistry 4 stars rather than 5.

This was my first visit to Goose Creek Family Denistry. The staff was friendly and answered any questions I had. There was no Wait time upon arrival. The Dental Assistant was pleasant and knowledgeable about her job and the practice. Dr. Graves is very knowledgeable and explained what needed to be done to correct issues I am having with my tooth. Wonderful experience, I feel that I made the right choice in choosing Goose Creek Family Denistry.

My wife and have both been going here a couple of years. The good is the staff is super nice. The hygienist and dentist are always very nice and explain everything well. The bad, every time we go (approx every 6 month) they try to get us to pay for something up front. I have insurance that pays for exams and cleaning. Then when I check out, there is always some kind of balance that I basically have to argue with them about. I pay for any extra procedure out of insurance when I get it done. It's always a different excuse why I owe, then eventually the officer manager (I think) steps in and says she will take care of it. Not to mention they tell me one thing and her another. We are fed up with the deceptive financial practices and are leaving. It's ashame because I like the dental staff, just not how they do business . ***Update after response. I am well aware how insurance works. Your company should be calling the insurance company (as they say they did) any time there is a procedure outside of a normal cleaning/exam to make sure what expenses are covered. Aside from that both my wife and I came in on the same day (separate times) and you told both of us there is a $50 charge for x-rays because my deductible hasn't been met. Not that you want to do a panoramic x-ray that is not necessary nor covered like regular bite wing x-rays are. Plus you just took them less than two years ago. You got the extra $50 from my wife because you lied about what the fee was for and she is not as familiar with the coverage. Luckily I knew better and didn't pay.

How do you review the best? Excellent service provided by excellent staff! Had a crown come loose during the night. Called early and was "worked in" not only for the crown reinstall, but took care of next months cleaning as well. Courteous, professional, and just great people! Can't go wrong with G.C. The receptionist are really pushy when you try to schedule an appointment. When a patient says "let me check my schedule," the receptionist should not reply with "can you come in today?" It is very annoying because it tells me they aren't listening and that their needs far outweighs the patient's. That, among other issues, have me considering looking into a new dentist.
