Dr. Burton Gooch has been practicing general dentistry for about 13 years. You will not find a dentist who loves what he does more than Dr. Gooch. It shows in his devotion to his practice and his patients. To broaden and further his education, he did a general practice residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Andrews joined Gooch Family Dental in July of 2018.

Dr. Andrews attended Bethel University in McKenzie, TN for his undergraduate studies and also played collegiate golf for the Bethel Royals. Our dentists offer a more efficient dental crown placement treatment process. This expedited treatment option is possible due to advanced dental technology. Some of the advantages of same-day crowns include:

Many patients get nervous and feel apprehensive when visiting the dentist. We want to make the dental crown treatment process as comfortable as possible for patients. That is why we offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation. We also use a desensitizing agent with any crown that we place to reduce discomfort during and after treatment.

All-porcelain crowns are strong and look extremely natural. At our Birmingham practice, our dentists typically use traditional dental porcelain for crowns that are placed over the patient's front teeth.

For the back teeth, we may recommend e.max porcelain, which is five times more durable than traditional porcelain. The dental crowns are fabricated using the CEREC system, which combines 3D imaging, design software, and milling technology into one machine.

Wonderful experience! They were all so kind working me in for a broken tooth-very impressed with their technology used and greatly appreciated the same day crown. Dr Claire Wood was personable and professional!

If you have a damaged tooth, it becomes increasingly vulnerable to further breakage and bacterial invasion. That is why we often recommend a crown to treat a broken tooth, a cavity that is too large for a filling, or a tooth that has undergone a root canal. To restore your tooth to its full beauty and function, our dentists can place a crown, which protects and strengthens the tooth by completely covering it down to the gum line.

If you have a single missing tooth, there are two restorations that can replace it: a traditional bridge or a dental implant-supported crown. Of these two restorations, an implant-retained crown is considered the superior option. The dental implant is placed in the jawbone and becomes permanently fused during the healing process. Because the implant replaces the roots, it provides the stimulation necessary to halt the bone atrophy that follows tooth loss.

Using your highly precise impressions, along with our design specifications, the CEREC system at our Birmingham office will create your customized restoration from a single block of porcelain chosen to match the color of your teeth. Next, we will check the fit and make any necessary adjustments before bonding the crown into place.

With proper aftercare, your crown can last as long as 15years. All you have to do is care for your crown and oral health like normal. Brush your teeth twice a day, floss daily, and visit our Birmingham office every six months for an exam and cleaning. It is also important to avoid biting down on hard objects that can damage, crack, or dislodge the dental crown.

Brenda was OUTSTANDING!!! Very compassionate and caring ~ checking to make sure I was OK during the entire visit!!! Dr. Andrews and Brenda were VERY considerate and kept me informed during the root canal and crown process by addressing all my questions! When needed, I look forward to their assistance again!!!

Wonderful visit. Had to get a crown for a broken tooth and it was done perfectly on the same day. Took about 2 hours total. All of the employees were wonderful and very nice and helpful. Highly recommend!

Once your veneers are received, within two to three weeks, he will gently etch your teeth and apply the veneers using a specialized dental cement. For an even more comprehensive enhancement, Dr. Gooch often combines gum reshaping with the procedure. Veneers can be cared for just like your natural teeth, and with proper care, can last for years.

Patients choose to invest in porcelain veneers because of the extensive benefits they offer. Their thin, translucent finish means your teeth look greatly improved, but will also appear completely natural. Veneers can be used to:

Depending on your condition and aesthetic goals, Dr. Gooch may also suggest alternative solutions. Our goal is to guide you toward the treatment that best fits your budget, lifestyle, and other unique factors.

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your teeth, and have a healthy mouth free of disease and decay, you are most likely a good candidate for porcelain veneers. Veneers may be particularly helpful for patients with teeth that are resistant to bleaching, or who want a dramatically improved appearance in a single treatment. However, veneers are not right for everyone. For example, if your teeth are severely misaligned, you may benefit from more advanced orthodontic treatment before choosing porcelain veneers.

Traditional bridges and dentures can replace missing teeth, but unfortunately, they lack a crucial tooth structure: the roots. It is the root of a tooth that signals your body to maintain bone in your jaw, keeping it strong and healthy.

If you are missing a significant number of teeth, your receding jawbone may cause more teeth to fall out. The loss of teeth and bone then causes your facial features to sink, making you look older than you are.

I am the quintessential terrified-of-the-dentist person. I arrived at the office in tears from the anxiety. As embarrassing as that was, the entire staff was gracious and patient. We took time to develop a plan that would help me feel comfortable getting much-needed work done that I had procrastinated on due to fear. The combination of their professionalism, education, and amenities for comfort (I used nitrous and did very well), made the experience actually pleasant. I really cannot recommend them enough if a phobia of the dentist if youre issue. I look forward to working with them again.

Throughout the years, Ive tried multiple dentists and have a HUGE fear of them in general. Until now, Ive never found a dentist sympathetic to my fear of dental work or one that took the time to treat me like a person instead of just the person whos teeth theyre filling. Dr. Berry and both of the assistants Ive had have gone above and beyond, being both assuring in their profession and personable. All have made sure I was comfortable before and during the procedures and gotten to know my personality and truly make me feel like Im in good hands (like tolerating my oh it was a good day until I had to come see you guys! jokes). I truly tell everyone they need to come to Gooch Family Dental now. Fantastic staff.

If you are looking for a solution that is not just cosmetic but also helps prevent future complications, dental implants are ideal. But you also want your dentist to have the technology and techniques that promote a long-lasting, natural-looking result.

From our 3-D cone-beam scanner that identifies the ideal location for dental implants to our custom-designed surgical guides that ensure each implant is at the correct depth, angle, and location, Gooch Family Dental is a leader in dental implant surgery in Birmingham.

A dental implant is a small threaded post, typically made from biocompatible titanium, that replaces the root portion of a missing tooth. It is combined with two other pieces, a connector piece called an abutment and the artificial tooth, to create a complete tooth replacementfrom root to crown.

First, our3-D cone beam scanneridentifiesprime locations for implants in your jaw. We then use a sophisticated 3-D printerto create a customizedsurgical guide based on measurements of your smile to accurately position the implants.

For example, traditional partial dentures can weaken the natural teeth that support them, leading to a need for additional dental treatments. Likewise, a traditional bridge can cause the natural teeth supporting it to fail, in which case both the bridge and the natural teeth could be lost entirely.Meanwhile, it's important to remember that traditional dentures require ongoing adjustments as the jaw changes, which requires both time and money.

With the proper care, dental implants can last for decades or even a lifetime -only the restoration would need to be replaced. Denture wearers especially appreciate not having to constantly pay for denture adjustments since dental implantskeep the jaw strong and healthy.

Dental implants are an investment in youroral health and your quality of life. Our team in Birmingham will go out of their way to help you take full advantage of your insurance benefits. And, to cover out-of-pocket costs, we accept CareCredit, a third-party dental financing company endorsed by the American Dental Association (ADA). Their low-interest and interest-free payment plans can make implants a fit for virtually any budget.

This was absolutely the best dentist office! The staff treated me like I was their only patient and I always had someone with me just in case I needed anything. They have state of the art equipment. It was amazing!!

The best place for professional patient care. Every encounter I have had with anyone in this office has been a positive experience. They take preventive measures for overall dental health and wellbeing. Simply a great practice with a great staff.

Implant-supported partial and full dentures can be designed in two ways. They can be either screwed onto the implants or snap onto them. Screwed in partials and dentures, also called 'fixed,' remain in your mouth all the time. The snap-on version can be removed by the wearer for cleaning.

To optimize implant success, some patients need preparatory treatments. If you lack the bone density to support an implant, we can perform a bone graft. Gum disease is another condition that needs to be treated before implants are placed.

In preparation for oral surgery, the implant area will be numbed and, if you desire, we offer sedation dentistry to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. During dental implants surgery, we will use a custom surgical guide created specifically for you to precisely place the implant.

Once the implant has fused with the jaw, small incisions will be made in the gums to allow a connector piece called an abutment to be attached to the implant. It will take about two weeks for the gums to heal, leaving the abutment accessible above the gumline.

After the gums have healed, the dentist will take a digital impression of the area to guide the manufacturing of your restoration. If you need a dental crown, we can use our advanced CEREC technology to mill your restoration and attach it immediately.

When your restoration has been completed, the dentist will check that it fits comfortably and looks attractive. When both of you are satisfied with the results, the restoration will be attached to the dental implants.

Our doctors have advanced training in implants and are happy to address any questions you may have. We want you to make an informed decision about dental implants and decide whether they are right for you.

Most implants are made out of biocompatible materials like titanium to help with osseointegration, a process where your body accepts the implants as a natural part of the body. Successful osseointegration occurs when new bone grows around the titanium implant, securing it in place. This step accounts for the longest part of the procedure but leads to life-changing results.

Implant-supported dentures can replace several missing teeth or an entire arch of teeth. By using implants to secure your dentures you can restore daily functions like the ability to speak or chew and never have to worry that your denture will slip out of place.

Gooch Family Dental - General dentist in Birmingham, AL

Made using CEREC same-day technology, our crowns can be attached to implants and replace a missing tooth for a natural-feeling restoration. Our porcelain-based crowns also mimic the translucent properties of natural teeth to blend in with your smile.

Everyone is very kind and accommodating from the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave. Dr Bates and her assistant Daisy are great, Ive had to have a lot of work done and theyve been very nice during all the procedures making it as comfortable as possible for me.

My wife and I have NEVER had a dental experience as awesome as this. From the moment we walked through the door to the time we left it was an elevated experience. The Hygienist was gentle and informative. The doctor was clearly interested in giving me complete information and was not in a hurry.

My kids canceled my appointment the day before when a reminder text came through as they were playing on my phone. I still showed up for my appointment not knowing it was canceled and they were kind enough to still make space for me and get me in! They are so kind. Truly don't love teeth stuff but they make it feel so effortless!

Their terrible!! They judge every single person that walks in the door. Doctor Andrews is rude as all get out, he will literally make smart comments while your sitting in the chair getting work done. He doesn't know what he's doing, he burned me before. The only good doctor they have is Dr woods. Don't go there. Also very expensive!

Update: It's strange to see so many good reviews. I believe this place is really all about making money. They diagnosed my wife with 3 cavities and wanted to do fillings. Thank goodness she went to another dentist for a second opinion. No actual cavities. I would recommend an office that is not going to con you out of your money.

This business presented to me as an office more focused on aesthetics than true patient care- I will be looking for a different option for dental care in the future.
