My career began nearly three decades ago when I moved to Chicago after finishing dental school to begin a general practice residency at Ravenswood Hospital. The residency included advanced dental and emergency room training, but it also had a component with internal medicine rotations. This experience in particular gave me an appreciation for how dental health contributes to a persons overall health and well-being. My view on complete health dentistry has continued to evolve due to the links that have been found between what goes on in our mouth and what diseases occur in the rest of our body.
When my residency was over, I stayed on as a staff dentist at the hospital for fouryears. Although I enjoyed the work, the hours were very demanding, and when my wife and I decided to start a family, I knew that I needed to make a change that would give me a better work/life balance. I moved back to the Detroit area Detroit to start Goldstein Dental Group, which has been serving patients in Novi, MI and the surrounding areas for the past 24 years.
We have expanded the practice several times, first by moving into a larger office that could better accommodate the growing number of patients, and also by becoming a member of the medical staff at Oakland Hospital, which has since merged with Beaumont and Botsford Hospitals.
We all work hard at easing our patients anxiety about dental care, leaving them with a positive impression both personally and professionally. In many instances, patients who initially had great anxiety about going to the dentist, required sedation even for routine dental work. Eventually almost all have become so comfortable with us that their fears have completely disappeared.
Over the years, Ive enjoyed seeing patients who first came to us as young children, and are now in dental school. I can only hope that their positive experience with our dental practice helped mold their passion for dentistry in some way.
Dr. Raphael V. Goldstein founded Goldstein Dental Group, PLLC in 1993. He is a skilled practitioner and loved by his patients of all ages. Dr. Goldstein takes pride in offering his patients outstanding oral care in a very comfortable environment. He surrounds himself with skilled professionals and his dedicated staff loves their exceptional working environment.
Dr. Goldstein earned his undergraduate degree with honors and high distinction in 1985 from Michigan State University, Lansing. He then completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1989 from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Ann Arbor. He completed his post-graduate hospital general practice residency training at Ravenswood Hospital & Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He subsequently was invited to serve as a hospital attending medical staff member for fouryears before deciding to return to the metro Detroit area.
Dr. Goldstein is well respected by his colleagues and loved by his patients. He offers the most advanced dental care in the pediatric and adult arenas. Dr. Goldstein specializes in general and cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, dental implants, and root canals. He offers sedation dentistry and is also trained in the Pinhole Surgical Technique for treating gum recession. Advantages of the Pinhole Surgical Technique over traditional gum grafting include a suture and scalpel free option, minimal discomfort, shorter healing time, improved cosmetic results, and fewer complications.
Dr. Goldstein remains on the cutting edge of dental medicine and regularly participates in continuing education programs. His past and present professional affiliations include membership in the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Oakland County Dental Association, Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, Academy of General Dentistry & the Alpha Omega Dental Society.
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Goldstein enjoys spending time with his three children. He also enjoys riding motorcycles and has climbed to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. He is an exceptional chef and truly loves to cook A joy he inherited from his Italian mother.
Dr. Steven P. Jaffe, DDS joined the professional staff of Goldstein Dental Group in August 2010. He takes pride in providing his patients with exceptional oral health care. A current West Bloomfield, Michigan resident, Dr. Jaffe joined Dr. Goldstein as a partner and practices comprehensive dentistry in both the Novi and Dearborn Michigan offices.
Dr. Jaffe earned his undergraduate degree in 2005 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2009 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In 2010, he completed a General Practice Residency at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He also received a certificate in dental implant procedures at Apsun Dental Implant Research and Education Center in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
With his professional training, interests and skills, Dr. Jaffe offers adult and pediatric patients a variety of dental services that increase their oral health, physical appearance and overall well-being. He excels in implant placement and restoration, including bone grafting and denture stabilization. Dr. Jaffe also performs oral surgery including wisdom teeth removal, along with rotary endodontic and cosmetic procedures. Using only the latest technology, Dr. Jaffe is fully committed to complete patient comfort and satisfaction.
As a member of several professional organizations, Dr. Jaffe remains up-to-date on current dental practices and procedures that benefit his patients. A proud husband, father and community member, Dr. Jaffe enjoys traveling in his free time. So far, he has visited more than 25 countries and plans to visit many more. He also plays competitive sports. While he instructed tennis for many years and played on several softball and basketball leagues, golf is now Dr. Jaffes current sport of choice as its much easier on the body.
