Dr. Maidans is a licensed general dentist who's been helping patients in New England since 2016. He acquired Dr Fales practice with the aim of offering patients a new kind of experience at the dentists office. His goal is for patients to enjoy being in his office and to offer them an educational, transparent, high quality, and gentle experience.
Originally from Latvia, Dr. Maidans came to the United States and moved to North Carolina at the age of 17. After receiving his undergraduate degrees in North Carolina, he moved to Virginia where he attended Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry.
In Virginia, Dr. Maidans worked in private practice for a year and then moved to practice in California together with his wife, Yalda Shahriari-Maidans. In summer 2016, Dr. Maidans joined his wife, after she received a faculty position in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island.
Beyond just helping his patients relax, Dr. Maidans is committed to working with his patients as partners. He focuses on offering preventive dental care and keeping his patients healthy. When patients need more than a routine check up, he makes sure they understand his recommendations and can make well informed decisions about their dental care.
Dr. Maidans is a member of the American Dental Association, Connecticut Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Originally from Riga, Latvia, Dr. Maidans graduated from University of North Carolina at Charlotte with Bachelor degrees in Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. He completed dental school at the Medical College of Virginia (now VCU) School of Dentistry.
Patti grew up on Long Island and received her degree from Hudson Valley Community College in upstate New York After receiving her degree, she moved up to Connecticut with her husband Lou. She worked for Dr. Gene Renz for 26 years, many of those part time while she raised 3 children. After his retirement, Patti was fortunate to join Dr. David and Dr. Judy Fales practice and is looking forward to her next adventure with Dr. Ruslan Maidans. In her spare time Patti enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves to be outside tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, as well as spending time hiking, kayaking, and relaxing at the beach with her husband.
Alexandria Bear-Teazis was born and raised in Miami Florida.She attended the University of Florida 1976-1978 with a business certificate. She moved to Massachusetts in 1983 and opened a gymnastics school with her husband. For 25 years she was a business co-owner, office manager, program director, choreographer and coach while she continued her education. She was a professional member, and national safety certified by the United States Gymnastics Federation University Junior Olympic program. With passion and love for the sport through the years, she produced several State and New England champions. She now is a member of the professional team at Gold Star Dental office and looking to continue serving the clients with high professionalism and perfectionism.
Tabitha was born in New London, Connecticut. She lived there until her family moved to Norwich, Connecticut in her middle school years. She still resides in Norwich. Tabitha graduated High School from Norwich Free Academy in 1996. She started Dental Assisting School a year after graduating. She started her dental career when she was hired by Children's Dental Associates in 1998. In 2001 she was asked to join the practice of Drs David and Judy Fales (now Gold Star Dental). She became a Certified Dental Assistant in 2011. She and her husband have four sons. Her and her family enjoy hiking, camping and adventures with the boys. Tabitha in her spare time enjoys reading and listening to music.

Questionable business practices. When I made my appt I made it clear the insurance I had and that I only wanted an appt if it was completely covered. I received confirmation from their office that, yes, pre approval was done and I was good to go. Went to my appt and during appt declined all additional services that would not be covered. Fast forward a couple months and I receive a $250 bill. They have already received payment from my insurance and still want me to pay more. Insurance fraud. After several calls back and forth I'm told the person I made my appt with was fired for not knowing her job. This office even tried to accuse me of making an appt with the office with a similar name and being confused. Absolutely not. Why would I show up for a scheduled appt at this office and be seen if my appt were at the other office. Military community beware of this office, do not seek treatment here.

They were great on my first visit but the i was scheduled 3 different time for a fillings appointment and it keeps getting pushed back this is the worst dentist I've been too

I love the people here. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The procedures that I've had done have been top-notch. Always forward thinking in making it more proficient for staff and clients. Highly recommend checking them out.

Amazing!!! Kindest staff. I've been here twice now. Once for my initial cleaning and then second for a mouth emergency. They got me in right away. I'm so happy I've found such a great dentist here as I moved here from Illinois about a year ago. I could go on all day with compliments. If you're looking for a dentist, look no further!

I am leaving them a one star because I did not realize there are two different dentist offices in two different buildings; anyway I called this one that doesn't take husky cause it is a poor man insurance and when I just asked the lady whoever answers for the front was very rude like if I disgusted her about my insurance and to be seen.. Well if I'm ever a millionaire I'll remind myself to never deal with this place at all.

I have never had a more lovely and caring dental care team. Everyone including Dr. Ruslan is amazing and kind and caring. They make what can be a scary or daunting procedure so much better and talk you through everything and make sure you are comfortable and know what's going on. Thank you so much!

The staff at this office from the door you walk in to the time you leave, every single one of them were amazing, kind, friendly, and not judgmental. I get major anxiety when it comes to dental work, so much so that I usually won't return for follow up work. Gold Star is the most comfortable dental office I've ever been to. I will be back! Guaranteed!
