Dr. Alan Gold grew up in Flushing, NY, and was educated in New York City public schools. He graduated #3 in a class of 815 students from John Bowne High School. After receiving a B.A. degree from SUNY Binghamton (with a major in chemistry) he went to the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery, receiving a D.D.S. degree in 1983. Following a General Practice Residency at the Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, he moved to the Berkshires, and joined the practice of Dr. Ira Colby, who had moved to Pittsfield from New York in the 1950s. Shortly after Dr. Colby retired, Dr. Gold moved his office from a 2nd floor walk-up location near the Berkshire Museum to 515 South Street, where we have been for 28 years.

Dr. Gold is a member of the Berkshire District Dental Society and the American Dental Association. He is a Past-President of the Massachusetts Dental Society, and a past-General Chair of the Yankee Dental Congress. In addition to Fellowship in both the American and International College of Dentists, he is on the staff at Berkshire Medical Center and is an occasional attending at the CHP Dental Clinic.

Dr. Gold is very active in musical endeavors; he is the Music Director at Temple Anshe Amunim, organist/pianist at the First Bapist Church, and occasionally plays in klezmer ensembles. Alan has, in the past, been musical and vocal director for numerous productions in the Berkshires.
