Golan Family Dentistry - General dentist in Williston Park, NY

Drs. Marshall Golan, Howard Golan, and Jeffrey Etessincorporate laser dentistry extensively into treatment at our Williston Park, NY, practice. This no-shot dentistry approach minimizes patient discomfort and improves recovery time by reducing pain and swelling. The team at Golan Family Dentistry uses seven different types of lasers in the office to perform fillings, root canal therapy, gum contouring, andmuch more. Dr. Howard Golan has been using laser technology for over 10 years to provide his patients with an overall more comfortable dental experience, and is an international lecturer and teacher throughout North America and Europe on its use.

High-powered laser technology uses various wavelengths and quick pulses of light to deliver precise dental treatment compared to traditional methods. Since the introduction of lasers into the dental industry in 1994, dentists have used them for both surgical and non-surgical procedures, such as:

At Golan Family Dentistry, we can use laser dentistry during most procedures for optimal comfort, reduced swelling, and faster recovery. This approach to dentistry minimizes your need for shots and other types of anesthesia. Our trusted dentists are passionate about combining high-quality technology with integrative dentistry to provide patients with an overall smoother and more comfortable dental experience.

  • Waterlase iPlus: This particular laser provides doctors the ability to deliver surgical treatments with little to no anesthesia and impeccable precision. Using hydrokinetic technology that combines laser energy, water, and air, it can be used on both soft and hard tissues. Our dentists can use this laser for gum contouring, root canal therapy, dental fillings, andmore.
  • EPIC Diode Laser: This laser provides three therapy modes to whiten teeth, manage pain, and perform soft tissue surgery. Our dentists use this particular laser for professional teeth whitening, TMJ disorder treatment, and periodontal therapy.
  • Low-Level Laser: This type of laser provides low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to stimulate endorphins, fibroblasts, and osteoblasts in the body. Often used during TMJ disorder treatment, it can eliminate pain, repair soft tissue, promote bone healing, and increase circulation. The benefits include nerve regeneration, faster healing, and reduced pain and swelling.
  • Root canals get a bad rap! In many cases rightfully so. Thousands and thousands of root canals are done every day and every patient patients tell me the horror stories. While most root canals last for a long time, the reality is that root canals pose many inherent risks.

First, root canals are only performed when the nerve is dying or dead. Thus, we do not do root canals just because the decay is deep. In fact, with our biomimetic philosophy and protocol we can often avoid root canal in deep decay situations. Just because there is a lot of decay does not mean it needs a root canal. Dr. Etess and Drs. Golan are committed to keeping your tooth alive

Second, root canals are done blind. They are done with instruments and irrigants that go down thin, tiny canals that the practitioner cannot see. They rely on x-rays on electronic locators to make sure that the canal is cleaned, shaped and sealed correctly. Unfortunately, the root canal is not two dimensional. The root canal system is a series of twists and turns, with areas that harbor microscopic bacteria. It is virtually impossible to know if all the bacteria is removed. In fact, we cannot remove them all. Thus, when we seal a root canal, we always leave bacteria there.

It is of the utmost importance therefore, that we as dentists do everything we can to remove as many bacteria as possible. We need to go above and beyond what we used to do and use technology to get disinfection to areas we could never reach before.

Dr. Etess and Golan Family Dentistry is committed to this quest. We incorporate laser and ozone technology to make sure that we disinfect root canals as well as known to dentistry today. While success cannot be guaranteed, we are confident that we are raising the probability of success.

Finally, root canals weaken teeth. By dehydrating the tooth, the tooth becomes brittle. Traditional crowns and posts do not support this weakened tooth long term. Thus, even a root canal tooth must be restored with special attention paid to biomimetics so that the tooth can function normally for years to come. Dr. Etess and Dr. Howie arepractitioners trained in biomimetics whocan restore the root canal tooth with strength and flexibility that approaches what the natural tooth was.

Dental implants are small, screw-like posts made from durable titanium, surgically placed in the jaw to replace a missing tooth. The posts fuse with your jawbone and secure an implant-supported crown, bridge, or denture to restore your smile.

Have been treated here over the past two and a half years and am very satisfied with their level of expertise. Endodontist, periodontal, orthodontist, they supply who you need to meet your dental needs. I just had an implant done today and feel fine two hours later.

To qualify for this procedure, it is imperative that you have good oral health, sufficient jawbone strength, and that you do not smoke. Treatment is only safe for patients who are healthy enough to undergo surgery. You should check with your doctor to find out if you are at an increased risk of complications.

Since implants are placed within the jaw, patients need to have the adequate bone density to be successful. If needed, our Nassau County, NY, doctorscan offer preliminary procedures such as bone grafting or a sinus lift to prepare your jawbone and restore your candidacy.

This technique uses 3-D computer technology to predetermine the most accurate location for your implants before we begin the procedure. This helps us prevent malpositioned implants, which could lead to complications and the failure of treatment.

Once you are comfortable, we will make small incisions and insert the titanium implant posts. After surgery, we will send you home with detailed recovery instructions and schedule your next follow-up visit.

After you have healed, you will undergo a second surgery to attach abutments. Abutments are small components that fit directly on top of the implant posts and hold your restoration securely in place. In about two weeks, your gums will heal and you will be ready for your permanent prosthetics.

Earlier in your treatment Dr. Golan will have taken digital impressions of your teeth, to design your custom restoration. Once you are ready for your implant-supported crown, bridge, or denture, it is secured in place and your treatment is complete.

Our Nassau County dental patients have the opportunity to undergo platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) treatment with their dental implant procedure. PRF uses a combination of the patients platelets mixed with cytokines (growth factors) to promote quick soft and hard tissue healing. Thetechniques can help you heal afterimplant surgery and can potentially reduce complications.

Dental implant treatment does require an investment, but most patients feel they areworth it for the superior health and functional benefitsthey provide. Implant-supported crowns, bridges, and dentures also last longer than traditional restorations and will need fewer replacements over the course of a lifetime. Our practiceis happy toaccept financing throughCareCreditallowing patients to makeaffordable monthly paymentson their implant treatment.

Incredibly caring and kind staff! They helped me out in so many ways, including an alternative to a root canal, which was a great success. I used to travel 2 hours each way just to get to their practice because they are so great. Highly recommend Golan!

My husband was referred by a friend to this practice over 7 years ago because his dentist was unavailable . At his appointment he was told he has Gum disease, which he doesn't, as well as cavities, which up to that point had never had before. Those "cavities" were then filled, however later determined unnecessary by two other dentists. The big red flag was that they were pushing for treatment for gum disease (that he didn't have) which would have cost him out of pocket thousands and thousands of dollars. He walked away from that feeling that something was not right; like he was being scammed. Years later I was called to confirm an appointment for my husband (which he never made) and most recently, he received an email suggesting he has a balance to pay, yet no services were explained or listed on statement. Just a blank statement with a dollar amount. Stay away from this place, something is not right.

I was recommended by a friend to Golan Family Dentistry. Upon researching the practice further, I found that Dr. Jeffrey Etess was arrested and convicted for selling 150,000 Vicodin pills, among other drugs. If Dr. Golan chooses to work with a convicted felon, I think that tells me all I need to know about this practice. I'd recommend a pass on this one.
