I was fortunate to have a great orthodontist when I was growing up and my time in orthodontic treatment was positively life-changing. My goal since then has always been to become an orthodontic specialist so that I could share that experience with others. I attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida for my undergraduate studies and am an avid fan of college sports (Go Noles!).
I achieved my bachelors degree in biological sciences, chemistry, and physics. I was also proud to contribute to original genetic research funded by the American Cancer Society. I received my dental education at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was elected to serve as class president and student body president. I graduated at the top of my class and was recognized for my leadership and dedication to the profession with the Chancellors Award for Excellence.
I was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. I completed my orthodontic residency at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. There, I was able to learn from distinguished faculty and gain experience with many cutting edge orthodontic techniques, including mini-implant TADs, accelerated tooth movement, and 3D imaging. Upon graduation, I received my Certificate in Orthodontics, as well as my Masters degree for my research thesis studying the effects of jaw position on breathing and sleep apnea.
Outside the office, you can find me spending time with my wife, Katie and our amazing kids, James and Juliette. We live in the Masons Bend community of Fort Mill and absolutely love our neighborhood! My family is my biggest passion and no success in the world would be worth it without their constant love and support.
We love to go out to eat (SPICE and NAPA are always top contenders!), travel to new places and spend time outside. We enjoy camping, hiking, snow sports, and kayaking down the Catawba River! I believe that family is one of the most important aspects of a fulfilled life and I am incredibly excited to build the GoClear Orthodontics family.

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had at a dentist office. The whole team was very friendly, thorough, and explained everything. The office is very nice and high-tech! The location is very convenient! I highly recommend!

From my initial call to my first visit to the office, Valentino was courteous and so nice and welcoming. Once I arrived at the office, he continued the same behavior and it flowed throughout my visit with Dr. Avey. Dr. Avey has a terrific demeanor and made my first experience bearable and even had a few laughs with me. They are also affordable and have flexible payment plans to fit any budget.. Thanks for making my first orthodontic experience a blast!

There are golf guys, fishing guys, lawn guys, and, then, there are tooth guys. Dr. Avey is the definition of a tooth guy. He is always smiling and excited about helping his patients achieve their best smile. He is informative and optimistic, just like the rest of his staff. The whole process from start to finish is seamless. I highly recommend GoClear Orthodontics.

I wanted a custom mouthguard and GoClear was kind enough to do it free of cost! It's clear the team here really does want to keep teeth healthy and safe. The mouthguard came out amazing, so I had them do a retainer as well. Service here was impeccable, and the end-product was more than viable.

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Avey and his entire staff, they are phenomenal!! The results my daughter saw from Invisalign were amazing and even better that she didn't have to wear braces. The entire process was so easy and they took great care of us! My daughter was actually sad when she got her night retainer because that meant she wouldn't see them for another year. We will definitely be sending our other daughters there as well!

Love my new smile! I am very pleased with my experience at GoClear Orthodontics. Dr. Avey and his staff are professional, genuine and personable. They are well organized, accommodating and timely. My initial consultation was very detailed. With 3D imaging technology, I was able to view expected results within a given timeframe. The process was incredibly smooth and easy. Dr. Avey addressed any concerns promptly and ensured I was extremely happy with my results. When it comes to orthodontic care, I would highly recommend GoClear Orthodontics!

It's always a pleasure visiting doctor Avey and his staff for routine adjustments. The treatment stages are gradual and comfortable. All seams to be working towards a much-improved smile. His ability to produce 3D models keep the cost down compared to the National programs, with essentially the same result. Thanks Dr Avey!

Dr. Avey and ALL the staff at GoClear are amazing! I started my process right before everything shut down due to the pandemic, & they made sure it never effected my care and/or treatment plan. The staff always communicated well about changes & when they were allowed to open back up, I have always felt safe & like the facility was CLEAN! Dr. Avey is the best, hands down! I've never had a bad experience, & will recommend him and his practice to everyone!

We have been nothing but pleased at Go Clear. Today my Son had something pop up at school and Go Clear worked his appt around it at the last minute. They were great! Also have a nice and friendly staff. Very happy we chose them.

GoClear made my dreams come true, as silly as that may sound. As a kid, my teeth were deemed "good enough" and so I never had braces. I watched all my friends achieve perfect smiles via braces and admittedly was a bit envious. Fast forward a decade or two, I noticed that my teeth were getting more crooked and crowded. I chose to make a change and started my Invisalign journey with GoClear. I was impressed with the state-of-the-art equipment used to analyze my teeth and create my aligners. Dr. Avey and his staff were always so professional and kind along the way. Dr. Avey is a perfectionist and delivered on his promise of giving me an amazing smile. Everything was so clear and easy.. From making the appointment with very friendly front desk to meeting Megan and April as they took care of my 11year old daughter .. I love visiting this office every time I'm there. I started my Invisalign journey in October, and was welcomed with open arms and reassured of my orthodontic success every step of the way. After only a few months of treatment I have seen dramatic difference in my smile already-- and others are noticing too! Dr. Avey and his staff are helping me get the confident smile I've wanted my whole life, and I couldn't recommend this practice more. They're simply the best.
