The primary reason that most people want to address crowded teeth is because they do not like to smile when their teeth are rotated and misaligned. Unfortunately, this is the least of the worries for a person with crowded teeth. In fact, misaligned teeth simply do not function or bite correctly and make it difficult to maintain proper oral hygiene.
For instance, floss may be difficult to thread between the teeth. Tooth brushing is difficult when teeth overlap one another. Dental decay may result in the hard to brush and floss areas. Decay left untreated may very likely lead to gum disease. As the problem worsens, it can lead to loss of teeth, pain, difficulty chewing, gum disease, bad breath, etc.
Orthodontic treatment is the key to correcting crowded teeth. Braces can realign teeth allowing for correct bite and proper oral hygiene. An orthodontist will evaluate how best to achieve alignment of teeth and provide one or more options. Unfortunately, there may be circumstances in which extraction of permanent teeth is required to obtain a stable, ideal result. Extraction of teeth is a very serious consideration, selected after careful deliberation and as the only option to correct the bite.

A gapped smile or crooked baby teeth is just one indication of dental health. An orthodontist is not only concerned with the health of the teeth and gums, but more importantly with the relationship and structure of the jaws. Does the growth pattern indicate sufficient development to allow for the permanent teeth waiting to erupt? Is the lower jaw too far out front of the upper jaw or vice versa indicating a need for growth modification?
What may the orthodontist see when an x-ray is reviewed? The orthodontist may see too many teeth (supernumerary) or too few teeth (congenitally missing) revealed by a Panoramic X-ray that shows all the teeth in both jaws in one view. The evaluation may reveal very large teeth about to erupt in a too narrow upper jaw or one or more teeth at a severe angle that may not erupt at all without treatment (impacted).
Your childs smile reveals a great deal about future needs. Many times though, its what cant be seen that requires professional guidance. A comprehensive orthodontic evaluation by 7 years old may indicate that your child exhibits normal growth patterns or exhibits issues that may best be addressed with early (interceptive) treatment.

Lingual, or inside the teeth braces, are similar to traditional braces except that they are hidden inside your teeth. Rather than the braces being placed on the outside of your teeth, they are placed on the inside where they work in the same manner as they would if they were on the outside. Yet, because they are on the inside of your teeth, nobody even knows that you have braces. Discreet and effective.

I have been an orthodontic patient for a little over 2 or so years ever since I started braces in college, and everyone has been so kind and friendly with me. At first I was very nervous to wear braces of course because of the food rules I'd have to follow and how tight they may feel in the beginning but Dr. Hukmani assured me that everything would be alright and it was! Despite going through the arduous process of braces and the work it would take to correct my teeth, I have felt highly comforted every step of the way as I was encouraged to keep up the good work on everything I had to do. I'm very happy now to be in my retainer phase of the process and I've finally ended my journey with a lovely smile to thank for it :) I'd recommend anyone to come to this dentistry for not only efficient but helpful service.

Doctor Hukmani and his team of caring professionals are outstanding in their field. I initially inquired about Invisalign, but learned that traditional braces would best correct my bite and straighten my teeth. He said that he wanted to do it right, and I would be much happier with the end result. I've now had my braces off for a month, and I couldn't be happier with the final outcome! My teeth and smile have never looked more beautiful! Doctor Hukmani and staff took the time and were very precise each and every visit. For nearly 2.5 years, the staff of Glow Orthodontist were responsible for taking take of me while having my braces on. I will say this without hesitating or trying to find pretty words to describe my experience: This people are phenomenal and extremely professional when it comes to take care of patients. Such amazing experience began from the minute you interact with the receptionists, all the way until the Doctor comes and check your teeth and the end of each visit. My braces were removed last week and I am so pleased and happy with the results. I will like to thank you all for being so professional and for making this process so smooth. I am already in the process to bring my son so he can get this process started. 10/10 Highly recommend!!!

My dentist recommended seeing the orthodontist for over crowding of my teeth. Orthodontist recommended the ALF appliance after a medial history was taken. He mentioned this would alleviate my migraine headaches. Since having the appliance the last 4 months I have stopped my month preventative migraine injections and have not had to take any break through migraine medicine.

My journey began in May 2018 when I had a consult with Dr. Nitika Mittal. During the examination her excitement came through as she talked about my case was difficult, but she was up for the challenge as she felt it could be accomplished without distractions despite my crowding and small jaw. To be honest, I had never experience an Orthodontist who exuded such joy for their job until I met her. I later sat with April to discuss my thoughts on starting treatment and the financials. To be honest, braces had been suggested before, but I was one of those felt strange about getting braces as an adult. Before I left April, with a beaming smile, said, "I will see you back here when you are ready." Four months later, to my own surprise, she was right. And Dr. Mittal went to work. As my treatment progressed I came to enjoy my appointments even more because of the staff. I learned more about Holly, Leah, "Angie", Jaime and April, and they about me. The atmosphere is one of family and they are all friendly, yet extremely professional. I began to see changes in my teeth positioning almost immediately and so did Dr. Mittal and the staff. Each time I visited they were amazed at the transformation, as was I. Midway through my treatment Dr. Mittal disappeared (I later discovered that she had an amazing opportunity to head her own practice). I began working with Dr. Navin Hukmani and to be honest I initially gave him a hard time because some of the suggestions he was making were contrary to what Dr. Mittal was trying to accomplish, such as completing treatment without extractions. We worked through that brief period and he was able to pick up where she left off. To be honest, if he had shared that Dr. Mittal was no longer with the practice versus saying he was picking up her Friday patients it may have been a smoother transition, but I had to find out for myself. In my opinion, it is a testament to how amazing and accomplished he is as an Orthodontist that someone who he chose to join a practice he established was able to progress in their career and begin a thriving practice of their own. I'm sure there was some sort of politics or NDA type situation as there tends to be with businesses which precipitated the decision not to inform the patients, but I've digressed. The level of care, respect, and professionalism that Dr. Mittal had shown me continued with Dr. Hukmani and I quickly came to trust him as well. I followed his instructions once I entered the elastics phase and I am so glad I did. In spite of the Coronavirus Pandemic causing me to miss two scheduled appointments, once the offices opened back up I was still on track to have my braces removed within 24 months. And I've never felt weary of visiting during the era of COVID-19 because their protocols and safety measures are top notch. I could not be happier with my results. I now have a smile that I never imagined was possible thanks to the Glow Orthodontics Team/Family!

The staff and the dentist was very nice. The wait time was usually only 5-10 minutes, even if it was busy. I am very satisfied with how my teeth turned out. I would 10 out of 10 recommend anyone looking for a dentist or orthodontist to go to Dental One Associates.

The staff is very caring, helpful and knowledgeable. I was on braces for around 18 months and changes in schedule they accommodate easily and very responsive. The results are so worth as my smile looks fabulous. I love the services so much that I have my oldest son go to them for his orthodontist needs. I didn't know what to expect when I got the ALF appliances for the first time in March, heck I'd never even heard of ALF appliances. The Dr. told me of all the great dental health benefits of the appliance and I was very skeptical thinking oh no another health practice trying to get money out of me. After they were placed in, I have to admit I am pleased. My headaches have been greatly reduced. I normally have headaches weekly but only have had one since getting the appliance. Im only 5 weeks in but definitely looking forward to what's to come with continued treatment.
