Dr. Sands was raised in the northern Louisiana town of Bossier City and came out to Utah to attend Brigham Young University from 1981 to 1982. After that time, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Honduras and Belize from 1982 to 1984, where he gained a love for Latin culture and people. He came back to BYU after that and finished his undergrad education at Brigham Young University from 1984 to 87. (Even in enemy territory, he isnt afraid to cheer, Go Cougs!)
Dental school took him back south to his home state, where he atteneded the LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans from 1987 to 1991. (Geaux Tigers!) There, he met his wife, Colleen, and they were married the day after he graduated dental school.
Though he loved being back in the south, Dr. Sands decided he couldnt live without Utah and came back here to stay. He started out his first year and a half working as an associate dentist in two other dental practices, but he wanted to be able to care for his patients more personally. So he purchased his own practice and has been building relationships with our patients and caring for their smiles since March of 1993.

All he wants to do is bill you for filings. Fillings you don't even need. If he tells you you have a cavity and need to get a filing, get a second opinion. He told me I had 8 cavities...EIGHT... that i needed to fill. I went somewhere else...I had no cavities, not one single cavity. Update to reply to the "owner". This is not my actual last name. This is the internet, I'm not putting my full name on here. I won't be contacting your office. There is no world in which I will ever trust anything Dr Sands has to say about my teeth again. I went my whole life with 1 cavity. ONE. Then I move here and need to find a new dentist. Somehow, in 6 months, I go from years and years with no cavities to EIGHT cavities??!! Imagine my horror! I mistakenly let him fill one of them because I had always trusted what a dentist said. I couldn't afford to do 8 at once. Luckily, after leaving the office and having time to think, I wisely got 2 other second opinions. Neither dentist found any cavities. (and I still haven't had any cavities since ). I'm sure the one I let him fill was not a cavity either. That's tooth that I will never get back. But he got to bill me..... seems that was all he was after. He is not concerned with good dental care, or honesty.

For nearly two decades, I have never left Dr. Sands's office without having had an incredible experience. He is so knowledgeable about every facet of dentistry; that said, if he feels an endodontist or periodontist is needed, he'll refer you to the very best. Every treatment from Dr. Sands, if treatment is needed, leaves you with a beautiful smile designed to last. Need numbing before treatment? I don't know how, but his shots are the most gentle I've ever had in my many years of extensive dental work. And he is hands down the friendliest dentist I ever had. Absolutely love Dr. Sands and his wonderful staff!

Dr Sands and his crew are the best! Very friendly and professional. Best dentistry service I've ever had. 4/5 stars because one time I went for a cleaning and I thought the hygienist took a while for just a cleaning and wasn't as thorough as I felt like it could have been. Other than that, I love my dentist!
