Dr. Sonal Patel Maru earned her doctorate of dental medicine (DMD) from Boston University School of Dental Medicine. She did additional training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York before starting her Orthodontic residency program at St. Barnabas Hospital in affiliation with Columbia University. During her training, she was fortunate to have had the opportunity to treat many challenging cases in a community that is underserved. In addition, she participated in multidisciplinary craniofacial conferences at Columbia University. After completing her orthodontic residency in 2005 and earning her certificate in orthodontics, she worked as an associate in multiple successful practices. This gave her the chance to learn from her more experienced colleagues and provided valuable insight into the practical aspects of the field.
Dr. Patel Maru is excited about starting her practice in the town of Glastonbury. After moving to the area in 2011 with her husband and 2 young daughters, she has found the environment to be close knit, warm and inviting. She is thrilled to settle down roots and develop her practice capturing the warmth and community feel of Glastonbury.
The vision of the practice is to provide high quality orthodontic care with a personal touch. The state of the art office is designed to engage all of her patients in a friendly and comfortable environment. She prides herself on spending time with each and every patient ensuring that concerns and goals are addressed in order to achieve a healthy, beautiful, and confident smile.
Outside of work, Dr. Patel Maru loves spending time with her husband and 5 and 6 year old daughters who keep her on the go! She also enjoys traveling the world, reading, and photography. Be sure to ask her about some of her photography of Glastonbury that you see in the new office!

Love this place - Dr. Maru is fantastic and works really well with kids (my 8 year old loves going in for his appointments). Staff is friendly and helpful. Love the location too - right in the center of town and easy to get to. Would highly recommend Glastonbury Orthodontist.

Dr. Patel is great with kids (and parents). As new clients, she was very patient with answer the many questions we had. Her office is always neat and clean and her staff are friendly and attentive. My kids love going to this office because of the iPads she uses to distract the kids from the dental work they are having done. My kids happily jump in the car to go to Glastonbury Orthodontics!

Staff is wonderful - very knowledgeable and friendly. Very nice, clean office, with an intimate feel. Great that they have iPads for the siblings to play with, but also kind of wish there were some "traditional" toys to play with too. Highly recommend.

Dr. Patel is an excellent orthodontist whose close attention to detail, personal comfort, and service are beyond compare! I went through braces for myself in my teens, my four children in this local area much more recently, and now I am again dealing with for myself as an adult. This is a completely different experience. Brand new spotless, modern office with attention to details--like iPods in the waiting room to use if you wait--I have never waited yet!!--and TV's in the exam room to make you comfortable if you wish. It is anything but the production line I have experienced in the other orthodontics offices I have been in. I chose her initially because she is newer to the area and a woman, and as a woman physician myself, I am always interested in giving young women professionals a chance. I am so very glad I did!! Could not have asked for better in any way you look at it! Give Dr. Patel and her staff a thumbs up, and my highest recommendation!!

My son has had braces since July and our experience has been great. The individualized care you receive is second to none. The office enviroment is warm, friendly and state of the art. Dr. Sonal Patel-Maru has been extremely wonderful!! My son really likes Glastonbury Orthodontics and looks forwards to his appointments!

My experience with Glastonbury Orthodontics was phenomenal! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and was also extremely helpful when I had questions about my treatment, appointments and insurance. Dr. Patel is my hero of the year for fixing my smile-I feel so confident now that my teeth are back to where they should be and I am beyond grateful to GO! As an adult, now with braces, I appreciated the attention to detail, the explanation of options, the caring staff and most important, the skill of Dr. Patel. Having previously gone to the "BIG" orthodontic practice in town for my children, I appreciate the intimate setting and the personal care. It's a calm office and as a result I'm confident with the treatment I'm receiving. I recommend this practice HIGHLY.
