Dr. Timothy Glass was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA. After four years of experience in private practice as a general dentist and subsequently working as a board certified orthodontist, Dr. Glass has acquired a vast knowledge of overall oral health and a substantial foundation for his work as an orthodontist.

Dr. Glass earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Biochemistry from Old Dominion University. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. After dental school, Dr. Glass worked in private practice as a general dentist, with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry. His experience as a cosmetic general dentist led him to his decision to specialize in orthodontics. He received a Master of Science as well as a Certificate in Orthodontics from West Virginia University.

Dr. Glass continued his education at the prestigious Dawson Academy, advancing his knowledge and skill in the treatment and management of malocclusion and TMJ. He is a board certified orthodontist, which is an achievement earned by less than 30% of all orthodontists. Board certification requires hundreds of additional hours in training to demonstrate the exceptional judgment, skills and knowledge required to provide the highest level of patient care. In addition, Dr. Glass was named as a Top Dentist by Coastal Virginia Magazine.

I started Glass Orthodontics because I wanted to do something different. We love creating beautiful smiles, but we also want to create bites that function and last, and that are healthy for a lifetime. Our focus is to get the jaw in the socket and help create a stable bite.

Used by fewer than twenty percent of orthodontists, indirect bonding allows for quicker installation of braces and ensures proper bracket placement on each individual tooth. Traditionally, braces are placed on each individual tooth, one at a time requiring meticulous, long, painstaking sessions for both patient and doctor. Indirect bonding is a technique in which molds of the teeth are made, and most of the work for the braces is done in the lab. The brackets for the braces are placed on the models of the teeth, exactly in the right place, fitted into the trays made on the model, and sealed and cured. Taking the time to place the brackets in a proper position on the lab model eliminates the difficult process of placing orthodontic brackets directly on the teeth. It also takes much less time, is more comfortable, and causes fewer loose brackets.

Palatal expansion creates a wider jaw allowing sufficient room for permanent upper and lower teeth to come in, helps the teeth and jaws to function correctly and can make the final smile broader and more attractive. Expansion often prevents the need to extract permanent teeth because space is created for permanent teeth and may even shorten or negate full orthodontic treatment. Dr. Glass offers several types of palatal expansion to customize treatment to the patient. The most common type of expansion is early expansion used for children. He also offers the acrylic TAD palatal expander, a non-surgical device for adolescents and the MSE Expander, a non-surgical device for adults with a narrowed, high-angle palate, or upper and lower jaw discrepancy. When necessary, Dr. Glass also uses surgical expansion when the use of palate expanders cannot provide the necessary results on their own. He is able to individualize your treatment for the most effective result.
