Dr. Bekka graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Lehigh University College of Engineering. She then complete four years at University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery to receive her DDS degree. Dr. Tannen then completed two years of a general practice residency at St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx NY. After completion of residency she began her journey of discovery with the completion of a one year fellowship in Special Care Dentistry and the Rose F. Kenney Center of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Bekka completed her two year Pediatric Dental Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital; a level I trauma center in 1999 and immediately began teaching as an associate attending post-graduation; She became a diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in 2006. Dr. Tannen is currently the section chief of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at St. Barnabas Hospital and has been practicing in Dutchess and Putnam Counties for the past 15 years.
When not teaching or practicing pediatric dentistry Dr. Bekka enjoys spending time with her husband Greg watching him perform as the lead singer of Vinyl Meltdown a local band performing in Westchester and Rockland Counties. Her favorite home activities are coloring and watching Fairy movies with her daughter Zoe and cuddling with their boxer Laila.

I do not recommend this place. Would have given minus point if I could! It started out nice. The dentist seemed great at first. But they really press on the treatment that they recommend. We were waiting to hear from our insurance to confirm our out of pocket and meanwhile this dentist started to send us threatening letters!! No less! Email and by post!! They seemed desperate for our wallet! It was very disturbing how they pressured and treated us!! So took my kids somewhere else. Save your energy and yourself from this unpleasant experience!

Beautiful office! Dr. Tannen was fantastic with my fussy toddler. Her staff is also very friendly, knowledgeable, and easygoing. My son absolutely loved the prize he received at the end of the visit. I highly recommend this practice!

Because of this doctor's poor treatment, inability to diagnose my daughter's infected tooth in time and poor job in fixing the tooth, my daughter lost her tooth earlier than she should have. She had so many opportunities ( over 3 visits) in ~6 months where X-rays were taken and her mouth checked out for her to identify any problems. Her inability to read x-rays and properly diagnose an infected tooth is mind blowing to me. I would not recommend this dentist. It should be 1 star but the staff were kind and the office environment is appealing to kids. Hence the 2nd star.

I Highly recommend Dr Tannen! I have 3 very busy boys and they absolutely love going to see her. I can't say enough about how patient and thorough Dr Tannen is with my boys. She is knowledgeable, respectful and sensory friendly . Dr Tannen is truly talented with children and has gone above and beyond to care for my boys. I can't thank her enough for making going to the dentist with my kids a positive experience!

I had a really bad experience at this dentist (Dr. Tannen). I came here because of the positive reviews, but then I realized that she spends hardly any time cleaning the kids teeth and tries to get you to pay for ever test she can think of. I definitely don't recommend her.

We love everyone at Giving Tree Dental. Dr. Tannen is incredible with all 6 of my kids. My children are continually asking when we can go back to the dentist and cheer when we pull in the parking lot.

My kids went here for the first time last week for a dental checkup after being unhappy with a prior dentist. The experience was amazing.. Very warm and friendly and appropriate for children. TV's in the dental chair (on the ceiling) with selection of Netflix movies. Dr. Tannen is a natural "mom" to the kids. She talks to them, tells them what to expect and makes them very comfortable before proceeding with anything. Kids are allowed to pick from a variety of gifts at the end, and the gifts are good!! compared to some cheap plastic spider rings that we got at prior place. My son who needed cavities filled and had had numbing injections is asking when he can go back again. Why because it didn't hurt, he got laughing gas (because he is a fidgety guy) and he got a gift card for cold stone creamery after. They have been brushing their teeth every night since our first visit without me prompting them. Something about what the doc told them really made an impact.. The staff is amazing from the front desk to the dental assistant.. Everyone works seamlessly together and it feels more like a family than co-workers. So glad I listened to my FB friends who recommended this wonderful place.

We've been with Dr. Tannen for approx 9 years and couldn't be happier! She is professional, knowledgeable and has a fantastic bedside manner. I wouldn't trust my children with anyone else!!

We recently finished up a series of visits with Dr. Tannen to have my son's cavities filled and I couldn't be happier with our experience. My son (age 3) was very nervous at first, but Dr. Tannen and her hygienist, Steph, were fantastic. They are so friendly and welcoming and really took the time to allow my son to get comfortable. Our first visit, my son started out refusing to get in the chair or open his mouth, but the second visit he hopped right up, and by the third visit he was excited to go! She took the time to answer any questions I had and walked us through every step of the way. Truly couldn't be happier to her found her!

My daughter needed a tooth extracted and several cavities filled. It took four trips to complete all of the dental work and she LOOKED FORWARD to each one! She couldn't wait to see Dr. Tannen and hang out in her office. My daughter felt right at home and had no complaints. In fact, my son started faking tooth pain a few weeks later because he was jealous of all the fun his sister had! I'm so happy we switched to Dr. Tannen and wish we had done it sooner. My kids just love her. You won't regret making an appointment with Dr. Tannen.
