Dr. Amy Gimlens mission is to provide excellent, cutting-edge orthodontic care in a warm and comfortable environment. She believes that orthodontics goes beyond the function and aesthetics of her patients smiles, and strives to help them achieve personal growth and self-confidence, in addition to beautiful smiles.

Dr. Gimlen completed her degree in Biochemistry at UCLA and continued to graduate Magna Cum Laude from UCLA dental school. She earned her Masters degree in Craniofacial Biology along with her Certificate in Orthodontics from USC. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics, California Dental Association, and the Western Los Angeles Dental Society, where she acts as the Chair of the Membership Committee. Dr. Gimlen was also elected to the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. She is an Invisalign Diamond Provider.

Dr. Gimlen served as president of the UCLA chapter of the American Dental Student Association and president of her residency program at USC. She also acted as a member of the USC Orthodontics Alumni Association Board and is an active member of Sandpipers, a South Bay philanthropic organization, and The LA25. She is also a member of the St. Johns Hospital craniofacial team, where she treats patients with cleft lip and palate as well as other craniofacial growth issues.

Dr. Gimlen grew up in the South Bay and has also lived in Hawaii and in Northern California. She and her husband, Scott, reside in Manhattan Beach with their daughter, Kiele, their son, Kai, and dog, Ruby. In addition to her commitment to serving her patients and her community, Dr. Gimlen enjoys traveling and going to the beach. Dr. Gimlen looks forward to continuing the 45+ year tradition of excellence in patient care in the South Bay!

We get asked, why cant my dentist do my orthodontic treatment? Your dentist could do orthodontics, just like your family physician could do surgery. Less than 30% of California orthodontists are Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. They are chosen based on stringent standards for skills, knowledge and ability. The application process takes years and involves submitting long term difficult cases of treatment, written tests and practical tests. Only the top doctors are admitted. Dr. Gimlen has completed this process and is proud to be a board certified orthodontist. Additionally Dr. Gimlen graduated from the top orthodontic program in the US and a top 5 dental school Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Gimlen also is on the Cleft lip and palate team St Johns hospital and trains UCLA dental residents on treating cleft lip and palate cases. You deserve the best trained doctor.

Established in 1967 by Dr. James Duffin, joined by Dr. Adams in 1977 and Dr. Gimlen in 2006, weve been treating local families for more than a half century.
