Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is an infection of the gums surrounding your teeth. Gum disease is one of the top reasons for tooth loss in adults, and because it is virtually pain-free, many patients do not know they have the disease. During each regular checkup, your dentist will check for signs of periodontal disease by measuring the space between your teeth and gums.
Gum disease is caused by a buildup of plaque (a sticky form of bacteria that forms on the teeth). If the plaque is not removed (by flossing, brushing, and regular dental checkups), it will continue to build up and create toxins that can damage the gums. Periodontal disease forms just below the gum line and creates small pockets that separate the gums from the teeth. Periodontal disease has two stages: gingivitis and periodontitis.
Regular dental checkups and periodontal examinations are important for maintaining your health and the health of your smile. You dont have to lose teeth to periodontal disease, and by practicing good oral hygiene at home, you can significantly reduce your chances of ever getting gum disease. Remember to brush regularly, clean between your teeth, eat a balanced diet, and schedule regular dental visits to help keep your smile healthy.

My current dentist was on vacation and I had to find an office that could handle my dental emergency. I called Gilford Dental and they we able to get me into the office the next day. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment to fil out some paperwork and was taken into the treatment room at the appointed time. I was seen by Natasha, who took an x-ray and looked over my teeth. Dr. Dan then came in and went over what the situation was. I was very impressed with this office.. from the front desk, hygienist, Dr... and Office manager. I have anxiety going to the dentist and this office took that all away... I can't believe that going to the Dentist could be such a nice experience. It makes me think about changing practices... If your looking for a new Dentist... I'd consider Gilford Dental.

I never thought that I would use the words "amazing experience" and "tooth extraction" in the same sentence but I can now. The whole staff were very professional are incredibly kind. They were able to get me in as soon as they could. And Dr. Dan Zhao was very compassionate and gentle throughout the entire procedure. I had no idea that this what a Dentists office Should be like and I don't want to go anywhere else. I highly recommend Gilford Dental.

Best dental office I've ever been to hands down & I've moved a good amount & been to more than a few. Very informative and knowledgeable. Makes going to the dentist even more tolerable. Everyone there is friendly, good at their jobs and overall awesome. Great group of women to trust with you & your families teeth.

Amazing isn't the word, Karen is amazingly caring and kind. I can't find my paperwork but my dentist was amazing, she was so careful and concerned during my tooth extraction. The receptionist was beyond polite and didn't look down on me when I paid in cash (simple construction worker). All in all from every aspect they could be rated 10 out of 10! You are all the best, thank you ever so much. OH and my dental hygienist was the best! And a star wars fan. Lol. Between all the lovely staff and the suits, and me being bad with names I apologize. My wife called Gilford Dental last Friday about a tooth I needed pulled. They responded within an hour and scheduled an appointment for me first thing Saturday morning on their day off. From the moment I got there till I left it was the most pleasant dental visit I've ever had. Getting a tooth extracted at Gilford Dental was less painful than some cleanings I've had at other dentist offices. My options were thoroughly explained to me before any work took place. The staff is very friendly and have a great sense of humor. If that wasn't enough, they texted my wife the next day asking how I was doing. I don't write reviews for anything but I was so impressed by this dentist office I had to write this. Thanks again Dr. Mary Hand, Allison and Lori at Gilford Dental. - A very appreciative new patient

My experience at gilford dental was amazing there staff is amazing! When I went in there my two front teeth were broken and when I was done they looked better than my natural teeth so if you need a dentist I would 100% recommended this place! I'm serious you need to go there... my experience 10/10
