I earned my dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. After Tufts, I completed my orthodontic residency program at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) earning my Master of Science degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics as well as my Orthodontic Specialty Certificate.
During residency, I guest lectured for the OHSU predoctoral orthodontics course, taught for the predoc orthodontic clinic, and organized prospective resident interviews. I also studied orthodontic white spot lesions for my Masters thesis.
Best day EVER? The day I matched with OHSU for my orthodontic residency! Learning that I got to return home to the Pacific Northwest for my orthodontic training, I was ecstatic. It was the first moment all my hopes of becoming an orthodontist werent just hopes anymore they were becoming a reality!

Great experience with Dr Petra and all of her staff. We moved during our daughters treatment and the office staff worked with our previous Ortho to make the transfer seamless and easy! We are very happy with Gig Harbor Orthodontics- the staff is always friendly too

Gig harbor orthodontist did magic on my teeth quite literally. My teeth were so crowded in the front and bottom. They were super nice and friendly everytime I saw them. I had moved a lot and they even accommodated to my wild schedule. I highly recommend going here.

Dr. Alatsis is an amazing orthodontist. She is very knowledgeable about the process, and very good at explaining the process and outcomes to others. I admire that she looks beyond the immediate issue and takes into consideration what is to come and how that plays into our child's health. There is probably not enough space in this review form to explain our examples, but I will tell you, I trust Dr. Alatsis's insight and direction with all three of my boys. I can't end this without also mentioning that the rest of the staff is a joy to see each visit.

I meant to write this a month ago! I am older and just needed a clear retainer because I feel my teeth are shifting (braces over 10 years ago). Well I called all over tacoma, fed way and gig harbor and no orthodontist would take me because I am not "their patient". Then I found gig harbor orthodontist. Not only did they get me in quick, the retainer was made the same day- no issues. I am sooo thankful for them. The office staff and orthodontist were professional and wonderful to work with! Great place! Thanks so much!
