I had a really great experience the first time I came in for an emergency visit. Great staff, doctor is awesome and down to earth. But when I called to make my next appointment today with my new insurance, I had a totally different experience. The person who answered cut me off as I was explaining why I was calling (asking impatiently "what's your name"), then continued to be impatient as I was trying to look at my calendar for availability. I mistook the date she offered for a Wednesday, and asked if they had Thursday available and she curtly said "this is for Thursday." I totally understand - my mistake - but a totally unnecessary tone. I am not a Karen, I do not leave reviews often and only if they're really great or really poor, I just am a person who is not stoked about going to the dentist ever and looks for the kindest people to do my (and my kids') dental care, and this was not that. I went to school to be a dental assistant and that was my career of choice years ago, I also did dental front office, have a background in the service industry and am currently a decade into recruitment, working daily with people just like myself, hoping for a good experience. Again, GREAT experience the first time, and doctor is AWESOME, but whoever answered the phone today (7/18/22), needs some additional training on customer service, patience and not making people feel rushed, stupid or like they're just a number. Apologies for the staff that were super wonderful the first go round, but this has made me choose another practice. That is the unfortunate reality of how impactful the first contact is.

I find Gig Harbor Family Dentistry very friendly and helpful. They have quick service and they care for your dental health. During this pandemic they have been super at making sure things are sanitized at each use and they are very thorough.

Huge dental fear but I was very comfortable with Dr.Wilcox. he took my wisdom teeth out for me and I thought I would never be brave enough to do that but I was educated and comforted the whole time! Emma the hygeinist is smart and gentle and has some great jokes as well ! I will always go back for my routine cleanings and it has truly helped me get over my fear of the dental office.

The front office is amazing at reminding you of appointments, fretting estimates from insurance and assisting you with making appointments. The back staff is quick i was pulled in right away from the waiting room. The assistants were educational as well as polite and Dr.Wilcox was the nicest dentist I've ever met . This is a great office for children and families

Great preventative care. Horrible billing practices. They recently combined my Cigna and my wife's Medicare on a single account without consulting us first (and it has caused confusion). When asked why they started doing this, they rudely told me I should have requested separate accounts previously (event though I have previous statements indicating otherwise) previously. They have also charged me a finance charge on a balance that they say will be credited when insurance pays and we do not know what account, (wife's or mine) this is against. I requested they split the statement separately and the rudely reported that their "system" will not allow them to do this. Also, I had a 40 year crown replaced a year or so ago and it has since been sensitive to pain. They have fixed it with grinding it well below the point of contact twice now and I am told that is should get better or I will need root canal.

Went here last minute because a brace fell off when I was on vacation nearby. They literally just stuck some glue on a tooth and then told me that it was on the house and they would not charge me. Months later I find out that my insurance was charged for an evaluation and now they won't cover my actual annual exam & cleaning because this place lied. Read the other reviews...I'm not the only one insurance issues.

Front desk has absolutely no soft skills whatsoever . Was extremely rigid on the phone and rude . That said , their hygienist Emma is awesome and extremely friendly.

Nice people but, I've had problems in the past, and currently, where new fillings have fallen out or cracked several times (because of there work). I'm in emergent and horrendous pain currently and I had to wait 4 days until they can take me in because they close every other Saturday, extremely inconvenient.

Honesty the people are great, services...eh. but they're HORRIBLE about constantly calling which actually made me go to a new dentist all together. I have a weird work schedule so it's hard for me to make appointments until i have the schedule I told one receptionist on the phone. 20 min later i got another call to schedule. Blew it off thinking they shared a call list. 2 months later i get a call.. I said i'm not able to right now we're short handed yada yada..the girl was SUPER pushy about dental health..i'm like yes but i also have to work...fast forward a week...i got ANOTHER call. finally i quit answering. fast forward a year to about 2 months ago. i recieved 4 calls in one day and 2 VM's to schedule. I ignored as i have new dental. called back to let them know i have new dental provider...and that brings us to today... 3 calls later and 2 vm's..... i'm not sure if the receptionists get credit for bringing people in and thats why they're so pushy... but they were SO pushy about scheduling i went to a provider that understands people have to work and we don't all work 8-4:30.

Great preventative care but horrible billing . We verified they were in our prefer provider network then my husband had work done and as he was the chair they tell him they can't reach our insurance to get covered amount and they proceed to tell him he has to pay in full. It was over $1,000.00 We were forced to pay out of pocket at time of service, basically treating us as a Cash patient no insurance. They then billed insurance and looking at the statement received from our insurance it shows that they billed them less than they charged us, after the allowed amount and insurance portion the Insurance paid , our portion to pay dentist was only $287.50. We had to wait a month but went in and got a refund check for over $700 ! The lady I dealt with in the beginning would not even come out from behind the wall to talk with me when I picked up the check . We won't go back and won't recommend a dentist who operates like that. They new we had insurance , we knew we were going to have a co pay amount but to make us pay the entire amount as if we were a cash patient and over charge us. No matter how good of a dentist you are if your not honest No thank you !

My husband has been seeing Emma for his cleanings, she always does a great job and is super friendly! Dr. Wilcox and the rest of the staff always make it a good experience when we come in.
