He believes his life was changed forever when he received the gift of straight teeth. Fascinated by the process and the amazing results, he was drawn to the profession. 'I dont feel like Ive worked a day in my adult life because I love what I do,' says Dr. Gierie.
His love of orthodontics has led him to share his knowledge with others. As part of the Invisalign Speakers Bureau, Dr. Gierie is a sought after speaker and lectures internationally, teaching other orthodontists how to use the Invisalign system and sharing his latest innovations. As an associate adjunct professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of North Carolina he shares his passion with young orthodontists in training.
The Ortho NAAB serves as a sounding board for Aligns North America leadership and commercial teams on Invisalign and iTero go-to-market strategies and initiatives to help drive greater understanding, utilization, and optimization of Align products and programs in the region.
Dr. Gierie is a past member of the Invisalign Global Scientific Advisory Board and was one of only 7 members in the world to serve on this board, whose mission is to provide feedback on product direction and development.
Dr. Gierie is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, the North Carolina Dental Society and the Wilmington Tri-County Dental Society (where he served as a past president). When not practicing orthodontics or lecturing, Dr. Gierie enjoys reading, computers, chess, cooking, boating, paddleboarding, cycling, running and being outdoors whenever possible.
Laura joined Gierie Orthodontics in 2006. Originally from Raleigh, NC she relocated to Wilmington in 1999. She is a UNC-Wilmington graduate. Her own experience with braces and jaw surgery as a teenager led her to become an orthodontic assistant and then later a treatment coordinator. Her vast experience as a chairside orthodontic assistant is a huge asset in explaining the orthodontic treatment process. Because she wore braces as a child and Invisalign as an adult she understands the process from both sides of the chair. She enjoys making patients feel comfortable and seeing their new smiles being created. Outside the office she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, friends and family.
Leslie relocated to Wilmington from Blacksburg, Virginia in 2001 and joined our team in early 2006. She lives in Wilmington with her husband Marcus and their two daughters. She finds joy in making people laugh and keeping the team entertained. Leslie loves interacting with the patients and the community. In her spare time she stays busy with her daughter's sports and enjoys spending time with friends.
Allison relocated from Charlotte, North Carolina and joined our team in 2016. She has over 10 years of experience in a combination of pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. She resides in Hampstead with her children, Maddox and Ellie. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, yoga, church and spending time with her family.
Elaina is originally from Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina but relocated to Wilmington in 2017 with her husband Kyle and son, Everette for Kyles job. Elaina joined our team in 2018, with a background in the Dental Sleep Medicine Field, as well as her certification as a Dental Assistant. She finds joy being the smiling face as patients walk through the door, making sure their orthodontic experience is a pleasant one! In her free time, she loves taking her boat out with her family, fishing and cheering on the Carolina Tar Heels!
Carli is originally from Washington State and moved to the east coast in 1998. Carli has been with us since August 2008 when she relocated to Wilmington for her husbands job. She has extensive experience as an orthodontic assistant prior to taking over 3D printing duties and overseeing our orthodontic lab. She lives in Southport with her husband, John, daughter, Kaitlyn and their two dogs. When Carli is not working you can find her fishing or hanging out by the beach.
Marisol relocated to North Carolina in 2014 after receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Central Florida. Marisol has experience in general dentistry and orthodontics. She joined our team in the spring of 2016. She is bilingual and is able to accommodate our patients with Spanish speaking needs. She lives in Burgaw, NC with her family and golden retriever named Elvis. In her free time, she enjoys many outdoor activities.
Bethany is a North Carolina native, growing up and living in a small town on the outskirts of Wilmington. After graduating from CFCC in 2008, she has worked in general dentistry and orthodontics. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her daughter Ellie and dog Sammy. Her hobbies include sports, shopping, church and playing with her farm animals.
Viviana is originally from Mexico and relocated to Wilmington in 1998. She joined our team in the summer of 2017 after graduating from CFCCs Dental Assisting Program. She is able to communicate to both English and Spanish speaking patients. She enjoys binge watching shows on Netflix with her husband and four dogs. Her hobbies include doing makeup, hiking, and going to the gym.
Danielle is a Wilmington native. After graduating from Hoggard High School, she obtained her certification in Dental Assisting in 2016. She joined our Team in October of 2019. In her spare time, she enjoys being on the water with her friends and dog, Atlas.
Elisa is a Wilmington native. She joined our team in the summer of 2018 after graduating from CFCC's dental assisting program. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach, traveling and spending time with her family and two dogs.
