Gibson Kathy T DDS - General dentist in Houston, TX

While it may sound over-dramatic to say that dentistry is my world, in a way, it is. Dentistry allows me to build a personal relationship with patients, and each patient has brought so much joy to my life. During my 32 years of practice, my patients have become part of my family, and I cant imagine coming to work each day and not hearing their laughter and seeing their smiles.

My journey to dentistry began when I was quite youngsix years old! I loved going to the dentist and appreciated the detailed work, my dentists quiet confidence, his ability to problem solve, and the chance to help people. Healthcare was the field for me!

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Rice University in 1976. I did research in renal physiology and organ transplantation for several years after college, but it never fulfilled my need to work with people. So, I returned to school at the University of Texas School of Dentistry and earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1986.

Several years ago, I decided to try my hand at teaching and found that I loved it. I teach clinical dentistry at my alma mater and hope to help new dentists have the confidence and ability to love dentistry as much as I do.

My love for dentistry and my patients inspires me to continually update my education to stay up to date with a variety of procedures. I attend lectures and hands-on continuing education courses, especially crown and bridge and implants, although lately I have been taking more courses in pathology, geriatrics, and sedation.

In addition to continuing my education, I also maintain memberships in the Ninth District Dental Society, the Greater Houston Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association to have a voice in how the government and insurance companies affect the treatment of my patients. Itwas my honor to be asked to join the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists, which are dental honor societies that promote ethics and volunteerism in dentistry.

My interest in volunteer work extends past my work in the office. I feel it is important to give of my time as I feel I have been given much in my life. I spend time working with the dental societies and Rotary charity events. I have been the editor of the Ninth District newsletter for 30 years and just became the assistant journal editor for the Greater Houston Dental Society this year. I serve as Secretary for my Rotary and Secretary-Treasurer of the Rotary Foundation, with which I have been involved for more than 25 years.

I am native East Texan, having been born in Longview. Both my parents and my husbands parents were in the military, so we traveled a lot as kids. Houston is my home, and this is where I have lived the longest in my life.

My patients get to hear about my family frequently. Many of them have met my husband, my daughters, my granddaughter, and my grandson. I think they get a kick out of hearing the adventures of our menagerie of five dogs and two cats as well.

It seems like I am always working. If I am not at the office, then I am usually teaching or serving on committees at the dental school. If I take a true day off, I love to spend time at my house gardening, doing needlepoint, and playing with the pets. My husband and I have also been doing a lot of traveling the last few years. I have a hard time doing nothing; there is so much to do and so little time!

Gibson Kathy T DDS - General dentist in Houston, TX

Dr. Garcia was raised in Rio Grande City, Texas. He attended The University of Texas Pan American where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. He then attended The University of Texas School of Dentistry to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery. The year after graduation, Dr. Garcia continued his education with a one-year General Practice Residency at UTSD. Upon completion of his GPR, Dr. Garcia began to volunteer at UTSD as a Clinical Assistant Professor.

Growing up, Dr. Garcia always knew he would find himself practicing dentistry. From a young age, every school assignment or question of What do you want to be when you grow up? always had the same answer, A dentist. There was never any doubt or other dream to pursue another profession, he simply knew dentistry was meant for him. This certainty was further solidified when he began to care for his own patients.

We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive dental care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented dental team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding dental experience every time you visit our practice.

Mary joined our team in 2017, bringing with her more than 37 years of experience as a dental hygienist. She works with patients to help them achieve great oral health through professional cleanings, treating periodontal issues, and fine-tuning their homecare routines. Her goal is to make all her patients feel comfortable and positive about their teeth.

Sierra is from La Porte and graduated from La Porte High School in 2014. She is currently attending San Jacinto College for her basics and plans to transfer to UH-Clear Lake to pursue a degree in Graphic Design. She has been with Dr. Gibson's office since 2014. Sierra loves being part of a team that is dedicated to keeping patients informed and comfortable during their treatment.

Eva was born and raised right here in South Houston. She graduated from South Houston High School and has been with Dr. Gibson's office since 2014, but she has been a certified dental assistant for more than 16. Eva frequently serves as our Spanish translator and gives Spanish lessons to the staff. She enjoys explaining to our patients all the possibilities with their treatment and how we can make their smiles better, all while making everyone feel right at home.

Eva is the proud mom of two boys and is known as an enthusiastic baseball mom.' Every office has to have one, and Eva is our huge Dallas Cowboys fan. When she is not at the office or at the ballpark, she loves fishing, trips to San Antonio, and dancing.

Ngoc was born in Vietnam and came to the United States at age five. She started at our office as a co-op student and has progressed to the position of office manager over the course of nine years, all while earning her undergraduate degrees in accounting and finance from U of H. Ngoc is here to help patients and work with them through scheduling and financially so they can meet their dental needs. She does just about everything to make sure our office runs smoothly.

In her spare time, Ngoc enjoys being around family and friends and working on craft projects (just in case her day job doesn't work out). She also has a one-year-old Maltese. She is currently working to achieve her CPA license. Ngoc also serves as our Vietnamese translator.

Dr. Kathy Gibson and our team want to make your dental experience something truly memorable. We love creating healthy smiles using the latest, proven technologies and techniques, all delivered by friendly, compassionate people. Our uniqueness stems from our ability to listen and respond to patients needs and desires. Your needs, your comfort, your oral health goals are always our top priority. Our team will make sure that you enjoy your experience with us, no matter what that involves.

Our Houston dental office is a warm, inviting, and safe environment, where we have created a space in which you can relax knowing that youre in excellent hands. You will always be welcomed with a smile by people who are genuinely happy to see you.

Dr. Gibson is absolutely the best dentist I have ever seen. I have a full mouth of restorations and I have seen many dentists. She is kind , compassionate and gives an almost painless injection. She will be my dentist for the rest of my life.

Words just aren't sufficient describe the comfort i felt as a patient here. If my first dentist had this positive energy and way of explaining things to put me at ease, i never would have settled for anything less in my second. Office staff and nurses are a delight. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I love Dr Gibson & her staff! We've been going to her for 6 years now! Dr Gibson really gets to know her patients & what their needs are to continue having healthy teeth & gums! She's very personable & friendly with a great sense of humor! Also her amazing and caring staff: Sierra, Gnoc, Eva, & Mary are the sweetest I've ever known for a dentists office! They love when I bring them homemade goodies! Thank you all for a wonderful & easy time every single time!

Dr. Gibson/staff and I now have a long-standing relationship with extensive dental work still to follow. She offered me multiple options on how to proceed with different price points, which was certainly appreciated, as some of the procedures were necessary and others were cosmetic. I chose what was best for me. She and her entire staff have been extremely accommodating, but most importantly, she is a Master at what she does and certainly cares about the well-being of her patients and the final outcome after treatments. I have been extremely pleased with all aspects of care and I highly recommend Dr. Gibson and her team. Cheers to Dr. Gibson, Eva, Ngoc, and the rest of the staff!
