Dr. Ghaffari grew up in Northern Virginia. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology where he perfected the art of balancing a difficult academic workload with the intense physical challenges of wrestling and Tae Kwon Do.
He enjoys interacting with patients, seeing beautiful results develop, establishing life-long friendships, and utilizing cutting-edge technology and techniques in orthodontics to achieve the best results. He is a firm believer in treating each patient individually and as conservatively as possible.
Despite receiving an admission offer from West Point, Dr. Ghaffari decided to stay closer to his family and attend Duke University. He double-majored in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, earned a 4.0-grade point average, and graduated summa cum laude.
Next, Dr. Ghaffari attended the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) where he studied dentistry and orthodontics. Dr. Ghaffari graduated at the top of his dental class and received numerous academic commendations for his excellent performance and outstanding service to the community.
He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists. As a former member of the VCU Craniofacial/Facial Reconstruction Team, he has had extensive experience with difficult interdisciplinary cases requiring orthognathic jaw surgery.
Dr. Ghaffari and his wife have two adorable girls with another on the way that keep them inspired and energized. In his free time, Dr. Ghaffari plays the guitar, bikes, and soaks up every second he can with his babies.

Dr. Ghaffari and the entire staff were amazing the whole 6 years or so we were with them for our 2 kids. They had come highly recommended from trusted friends so I knew the work would be excellent. I was also impressed with how well they helped us navigate times when coordination with the dentist was needed and also in navigating insurance. And overall their kindness and empathy to the kids throughout every stage of treatment was absolutely priceless.

I visited the doctor last year for a consultation to correct poor work performed by a local Vienna orthodontist. He said things that seemed asinine. For example, he claimed that my chin and nose are misaligned and that I needed jaw surgery to correct it. He also claimed that my lips would sink in and look thinner if I got braces. I visited several other orthodontists, and they all disagreed with his assessment, but he traumatized me. Honestly, I do not recommend going to this doctor for treatment. I also took issue with the condition of the tools he was using. The bite wings and other plastic appliances he used were old, and didn't appear clean or sterile. IN RESPONSE TO STAFF: I AM NOT MISTAKEN. IT WAS YOUR 100% YOUR PRACTICE. IT WAS THIS DOCTOR.

This is the best ortho practice in Northern Virginia, no question! I had looked around at options, and Dr. Ghaffari showed to have the most efficient plan at the best cost. All employees are wonderful and make you feel like family. Additionally, they make the experience with braces as easy and fun as possible. Dr. Ghaffari + staff are the best! I came here for Invisalign - after having braces as a teen, my teeth shifted in adulthood. He is attentive and knowledgeable and his entire staff is pleasant and friendly. They even worked with my timeline as I wanted to be completed with it all before my wedding. He gave me my confidence back with a now perfect smile!! 100% recommend coming here for any orthodontic needs.

I am so grateful to Dr. Ghaffari and the whole staff for making my children's orthodontic treatment a very positive experience. We are thrilled with their beautiful, healthy smiles. Each child received customized treatments that worked well for them and were completed on schedule. Having had nightmarishly bad orthodontia when I was a child, I was very nervous going in the first time. Dr. Ghaffari and his staff were always so patient in answering my questions and explaining to my kids what they were supposed to do. Everyone there is always caring and friendly so they made it fun for us to go in for appointments. We were always able to get very convenient appointment times and Shirlie was amazing at helping us with insurance payments.They did a phenomenal job keeping the treatments going during Covid. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Ghaffari and the whole team!!

When we found out both our daughters needed braces, we interviewed a couple orthodontists in the area. After we had our consultation with Dr. Ghaffari, we knew we would go with him. He explained the process in great detail and was very friendly and personable. His staff are also extremely knowledgable, professional and friendly. We had a great experience with both our daughters and their teeth are perfect thanks to Dr. Ghaffari! Would highly recommend him!

We took our daughter to Dr. Ghaffari three years ago. From the moment we walked in for a consultation to 18 months later. Dr. Ghaffari and his team professionalism and warm welcoming is undeniable.
